I have compilied vpopmail 5.0 with your hints, but
the problem is the same.
After more than 10 hours the tcp.smtp file was removed.
When i downgrade then to 4.10.24 with the same options,
all works fine.

work with --enable-qmaildir=/not/var/qmail :
Instead of searching necessary qmail-binaries under specified
/not/var/qmail/bin 'configure' script tries to seek inside
default /var/qmail

I dicovered today that when sending mail to one of
my domains it now says no mailbox, but the domain is there and the entires are
in mysql. Running vpomail 5 with qmail.
Anyone seen this.

sorry for some reason three domains ended up in the
locals file jsut had to remove them and restart qmail. so far so
good

check mail, the tcp.smtp and the tcp.smtp.cdb do not...
all 3 files open-smtp, tcp.smtp, and tcp.smtp.cdb are owned by usur root

I'm using the older vpopmail (4.10.? I think) and it created 3 tables in
mysql -- dir_control (stores domain info), relay (appears to be pop before
smtp info), and vpopmail (all individual user info). I must say that this
thing, along with qmadmin, vqregister and vqadmin was a real nightmare to
do you think that doing all the email stuff with the vqregister is ok with
out using mysql? i have mysql, but so far i have seen that the mail server
works ok with out the mysql. i have qmail, vpopmail, sqwebmail, qmailadmin,
and now vqregister all running. does anyone have any numbers that
