[vchkpw] SpamAssassin/vmodinfo changes

2003-03-08 Thread Gabriel Ambuehl
Hi,

I just added my SpamAssassin changes to vpopmail-5.3.19 which is now
vpopmail-5.3.20.

I couldn't verify Bill's problem of vdelivermail crashing when spamd
wasn't running on FreeBSD 4.7 myself but I'd like to hear from others.

Furthermore, even if activated, SpamAssassin will now only be used if
there's a .use_spamassassin file in domain.com/user/ so everyone can
set whatever they like.

Now I'd very much like to see qmailadmin be able to set the flag, of
course.

  SF something else.

We don't offer lifetime email accounts, so setting the accounts to
expire automatically at the end of their term, is what we'd like to do.

but is this really something vpopmail should worry about? i guess we could add
a new option to vadduser, like -x 2003-05-12 which then also adds the expire
date to the vpopmail sql table. then you would have to run a script once a
day SELECT * FROM vpopmail WHERE expiredate CURRENT_DATE and calling
vdeluser for every returned row.. an automated check every
vdelivermail/vchkpw is uneccessary and just slows mail delivery down.

[vchkpw] POP before SMTP vs rcpthosts

2003-03-08 Thread Jesse Guardiani
Howdy list,

I'm confused about something. Why do we need POP before SMTP? Don't the rcpthosts and
morercpthosts files offer the same
functionality?

Thanks!

Nevermind. I read life with qmail again and figured out what I was missing. Sorry for
the post.

 Thanks!

[vchkpw] smtp filter proxy

2003-03-08 Thread Jesse Guardiani
Howdy list,

I'd like to insert an SMTP filter proxy between tcpserver and qmail (or, in my case:
rblsmtpd) that reads a file or cdb containing
all of the domains in my rcpthosts file, and REJECTS messages that are addressed FROM
one of those domains UNLESS the RELAYCLIENT
environment variable is set (which would mean that it's legitimate email from one of
my customers).

Does anyone know of a program that can do this?

The idea seems relatively simple, and I can't immediately think of any problems with
it. And Implementing it would greatly reduce
spam with forged headers claiming to be from one of my customers.

Well, did you actually implement FALLBACK support?

Also, how many other people would be interested in a feature like this? My
company doesn't offer lifetime accounts either. When their contract is up, we
remove the domain. It seems like this would be an unneccesary complication.
You could also write a simple perl script that would check a flat file, or
database, or whatever and if that account has hit it's expiry, then run
vmoduser against it and disable the account. Still not sure why you'd want to
disable over delete.

Tren

Personally, I think your billing system should be taking care of the
removal/suspension of accounts...

[vchkpw] vnysql: can't find limits for domain

2003-03-08 Thread Dorneles Treméa
Hi guys,

I'm curious if anyone more get messages like:

delivery 1: success: vnysql:_can't_find_limits_for_domain_'test.org'/did_0+0+1/

What I did: just installed vpopmail 5.3.19 (with
MySQL suport), vqadmin 2.3.5, created 'test.org'
domain with a postmaster user and send a message
from this user to himself... And my current log
shows that 'error'...

I already got this last week, with 5.3.18 version.

PS: All services was restarted.
