Upgrade to 5.2.2, it includes patches that should correct your problem.

Also, make sure you re-compile qmailadmin after compiling and

[vchkpw] .qmail-default delivery problem

2003-11-12 Thread Vlady
Hello,
I am using vpopmail for a second day, and I have the folowing problem:
If I have in a ".qmail-default" file a local email drress, and for that email
adress I dont have a pop account but just .qmail- file wich contains
another local email addrres (for wich I have a finaly pop account) the qmail
delivery dies with an error "message_is_looping." .
The same scama is working for a regular .qmail-... file.

To clear a little my situation here is an example:

Doesn't work:
1. vpopmail/domains/domain1/.qmail-defaultcontains :
| /var/qmail/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2. vpopmail/domains/domain2/.qmail-salescontains :
&[EMAIL PROTECTED]

3. and in vpopmail/domains/main-domain I have a pop-account "sales"

If I try the same with a normal .qmail-.. file, it works corectly:

1. vpopmail/domains/domain1/.qmail-sales contains :
&[EMAIL PROTECTED]
2. vpopmail/domains/domain2/.qmail-salescontains :
&[EMAIL PROTECTED]
3. and in vpopmail/domains/main-domain I have a pop-account "sales"

What can I do to make .qmail-default to work in this case?

Cheers
Vlady

I guess it might be the only way.
I didnt want to do it at first because its a complex system with over 20mb of php
files (not only for webmail).

Anyway, i'd like to make a suggestion for the vpopmail developers: to user some kind
of mysql.conf table where the user can customize the layout. I've seen this in some
other patch, something like:
database: vpopmail
table: users
user_column: id
pass_column: password

thanks,

Jw

the mysql table which vpopmail will use to authenticate?
Do I have to change anything else besides vmysql.h?
I already did this, only changing the vmysql.h is enough.

You can add custom rows to the MySQL table, and vpopmail will not be
bothered or bother them at all, so if you wanted you could add a collumn
named comments, and vpopmail would ignore it, but the rest would be able
to retrieve the info if wanted.

No need to edit the source.

Installing squirrelmail is certainly an option, but in order to install
squirrelmail you must install an IMAP server as well (e.g., Courier-IMAP).

And once you have an IMAP server installed, you could also retrieve your

[vchkpw] use vchkpw/vauth i own/other application

2003-11-12 Thread Jens Gassmann
Hi,

i try to integrate the auth-process from vchkpw into
messagewall(http://www.messagewall.org) a nice spam-block.

Could someone with more programming expirience as me, write and comment
a simple function which checks if username and password correct and
returns then 1/0. Think it tooks not more then 5minutes for a good
programmer, but for me it will tooks days of learning.

message has it own smtp-auth-method an at the moment not
checkpassword-support. But to allow our customer to auth against the
server we must integrate the process into messagewall.

Hope someone could help, i'am a good perl-programmer, but not c.

regards,

Jens

  2. Mozilla doesn't store mail in a Maildir format, so it would not

I am not aware of all the available graphical mail clients out there,

mbox (and a few others).

Or you could setup a .qmail file in the user's vpopmail directory (eg,
/var/vpopmail/domains/linux-pour-lesnuls.com/deny/) to put the mail
elsewhere - so that would be done on a per-user basis.
I think your best bet would be to just IMAP or POP the messages, even if
only locally. That way you can use Mozilla (or any other mail client)
to read the mail. (of course, that requires you to setup an IMAP and/or
POP server)

yes like squirrelmail for example ?
thanks

You should switch to an even more recent version of qmailadmin. The

resulted in the problems you've seen (mail looping through infinite

I think we've been using

|/bin/true delete

As the replacement -- the delete is in there so qmailadmin can detect
it later. Once people start using more recent versions of vpopmail, we
can replace it with "# delete". vpopmail 5.3.20 can't handle comments
in .qmail files.
