I use Netscape 7.1 to connect to my email account ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and

When I attempt to reply, Netscape prompts me for a password. I supply
the same password I used to retreive email. After some churning, I am

Hi,

I don't know if this applies to you but older Netscape clients required

I've been interested in this for quite a while, but it has always met a lot

It seems to me that when a users email account is created a welcome
message should automatically be delivered to the account with key
information like where to get support, etc.

I've hacked up vpopmail.c vadduser() in 5.3.30 to deliver a message
contained in /home/vpopmail/etc/welcome.msg when an account is added. I
based it on code in vpopbull.c.

Right now it's a hack, but if there's any interest in the patch I can
clean it up. It would be cool if it could be included as a configure
 option --with-welcome-msg=...

[vchkpw] Problem with account (dialup)

2003-11-30 Thread Andrea Riela
Hi folks,

I've a problem with my vpopmail (now is 5.3.30, but I had the same problem
on 5.3.20).
When a specific user (ex:lsiro) of domain1.dom connects himself via dialup
on my pop3 server, I receive a message error in console: user
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (when IP is the dialup IP) not found.
But the user donwloads his mails correctly.
The problem is: I've [EMAIL PROTECTED] instead of [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Why? Misconfiguration? Mistake?

Thanks for all
Regards
Andrea

Well you could try configuring Spammassassin so that it does what you
want it to do. You can get it to label it as spam, move it some place
else on the hard drive, and a lot of other cool things. Just look for
what fits you best.

take a look at http://tmda.net, they even have a cgi front-end. Works pretty
good IMHO. Yea I will get 1 or 2 messages a week but there from a real
person. I have been using it now for about 6 months and on average it
is blocking about 50 messages a day :)

[vchkpw] welcome.msg patch submitted to vpopmail.sf.net patch manager.

2003-11-30 Thread Yermo M. Lamers
I've cleaned up my welcome.msg patch to vpopmail-5.3.30 and posted it on
vpopmail.sf.net. It adds a vsendwelcome() function to vpopmail.c and a
call to it at the end of vadduser(). Also included are README.welcomemsg
and a welcome.msg.dist file which is just a placeholder right now.

I've cleaned it up and added per-domain welcome messages.

Please note that if you apply this patch to vpopmail you will need to
relink vqadmin and qmailadmin for these changes to take effect.

It hasn't been extensively tested. If you give it a try and notice
problems or have comments please let me know.

-- Yermo

P.S. Inter7.com guys, if you decide to include this patch in the
distribution I'd suggest editing the sample welcome.msg.dist file.

Re: [vchkpw] welcome.msg patch submitted to vpopmail.sf.net patch manager.

2003-11-30 Thread Yermo M. Lamers
I don't have a need for that myself since my users will not be allowed
to edit the welcome message.

But, I was thinking about it. patch qmailadmin to allow editing of the
per-domain messages and vqadmin for the system-wide one.

I would certainly be willing to do that but let's wait to see if they
like the patch enough to include it in the main vpopmail distribution.

If they do and would accept qmailadmin/vqadmin patches from me I'll go
ahead and do the work to add an admin screens for it; if they don't I'd
be stuck updating the patch for each release which is something I don't
have enough time to to do.

Dear Michael,

* create the domain directory (completed)

* add the domain to /var/qmail/control/virtualdomains file

* add the domain to the auth system ?

* create the postmaster account (NOT completed)

The problem is definitely at the
postmaster creation, checked the files.

If I do ./vadduser
[EMAIL PROTECTED] password

Everything works great, all files are created

Also I have a problem at deleting the
domain

I installed 5.3.28 at first with roaming
users + cdb + qmail smtp auth patch

Upgraded 5.3.29 with same config

Then again 5.3.29 without roaming users
since I have smtp auth J

Upgraded 5.3.30 with same config

I know it must be some small glitch,

if I install again on a new box it would
be ok.

Thank you,

I haven't looked at the patch yet, but we can add it to the 5.5
development series once we get a stable 5.4 released out of the 5.3
series.

5.3.31 will probably be released as 5.4.0-pre1 shortly. We aren't
adding new features now -- only fixing bugs andtweaking the build
