Re: [vdr] Why is VDR appending :S23.5E: entries to my channels.conf?

I have recently removed all :S23.5E: lines,
but they came back immediately:

cko/vdrconfig fgrep :S23.5E: channels.conf | wc
152 352 16541
cko/vdrconfig fgrep :S19.2E: channels.conf | wc
1266 2774 122268

Does anyone know why I am getting :S23.5E:

Is this a bug or am I missing somerhing?

I am using vdr-1.7.26.

If you send me your channels.conf (without the S23.5E channels), diseqc.conf
and setup.conf I could try to reproduce this here.

Re: [vdr] noad-0.7.3 and HD ?

2012-05-01 Thread Frank Neumann
Hi there Karim,

Is there any version or any patch I missed ?

noad did never work with HD recordings, there has only been a patch a couple of
time ago, which made it possible to recognize HD recordings for noad, to stop
scanning immediately in case of and not to waste CPU time.

If you want to have that funktionality, you need to look at vdr-plugin-markad.

second time now. Its the standard gen2vdr distribution so various patches and
plugins I guess.

I am not trying to use VPS, can I rule that out due to the messages shown?

Since there is no VPS keyword in the timer line at

  Apr 30 21:59:00 [vdr] [2496] timer 1 (1 2159-2310 'Silent Witness') start

it's safe to assume that VPS is not being used.

Apr 30 23:01:59 [vdr] [2734] read incomplete section - len = 428, r = 214

Is the above message important?

No.

I'll try to strip it down then and see if it reoccurs.

Try to get rid of as many patches as possible (preferably all of them ;-).
And use only the plugin necessary for output, nothing else.

Re: [vdr] Why is VDR appending :S23.5E: entries to my channels.conf?

I also removed all non-:S19.2E: entries again

[vdr] Small python script to rearrange channels.conf.

2012-05-01 Thread Carsten Koch

Hi,

I wrote a small python script that helps me
keep my channels.conf tidy.

The scripts assumes that I have
(among others) channel groups
:HDTV, :Deutschsprachig,
:(auch)Englisch, :Verschiedenes,
:Astra Radio and :new channels
at the end.

It moves all radio channels from
all groups into :Astra Radio.

It moves channels that have
a HD in their name from :new channels
to :HDTV.

It moves channels that have
geman sound from :new channels
to :Deutschsprachig.

It moves channels that do not have
german sound, but english sound
from :new channels to :(auch)Englisch.

All other new channels are moved from
:new channels to :Verschiedenes.

It ignores all non-S19.2E channels
(see my other posting).

Finally, all channel groups are sorted
alphabetically.

The script/program is a filter, so
you can do things like
   python sort_channels.py channels.confchannels.new

Cheers,
Carsten.

Most plugins should have updated versions or developer snapshots
available by now. Some patches are also available at vdr-portal.de.

For the common iI18NPhrase bugs, there's usually a line missing in i18n.h:

[vdr] POLL: epg behavior when guide data is missing

2012-05-01 Thread VDR User
Hi ML. I had noticed that several of my channels were missing from the
epg list. It turns out this is because VDR will exclude any channels
from epg list that don't have epg data. It made more sense to me that
rather than excluding those channels, they be listed with No data
available so the channels are at least still accessible from the epg
list. Otherwise the user has to exit the epg, navigate to the channels
list and find them there.

Since it's probably safe to assume most users spend most of their time
in the epg list when in the osd, doesn't it also make sense that the
full channel list should be available there as a matter of
convenience? Klaus recommended I pose this to the ML and if see if
others agreed. If so, he'll adopt the idea.

So in consideration of the above, do you think the epg list should
display _all_ channels, including those without any guide data, giving
those channels No data available. Or, do you think the epg list
should exclude channels without guide data and leave those channels
only accessible elsewhere?

Thanks for your input

[vdr] vdr-1.7.x + TT S2-6400 + mkv

Hi,

I dug up this old post ...

I am still looking for a solution to view mkv files from vdr-1.7.x and
Technotrend S2-6400.
AFAIK, there is no evolution for mplayer at this time, and no vdr-plugin
either :-(

(I suppose that most of people are using Xineliboutpout and its own player).

Do you know about a solution for Technotrend S2-6400 ? Dis I missed
something ?

Thanks.

As already mentioned. Such a thing does not exist. Your best bet would be to
translate the mkv to ts and convert it to a recording. Then it MIGHT be
possible to watch. But there is no media player which can output to your
device.

[vdr] probs with new ZDF HDchannels

2012-05-01 Thread Harald Milz
Hi guys,

I just added the new ZDF HD channels (ZDF, KIKA, ZDF neo, kultur and info) and
I get strange effects like the ones described in
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Neue-HDTV-Sender-Ruckler-auf-bestimmten-Receivern-1564225.html.
It looks as if the color pallette switched every 0.7 s. This didn't happen
with the old ZDF HD channel. My setup is unchanged. Other HD channels are not
affected.

Did anyone else observe this, and what can we do to fix this?

You didn't mention your setup in detail, but I assume you're
using a xine-lib VDPAU based solution.

In my vdr-xine setup I had to switch from vdpau_h264 to
vdpau_h264_alter decoder. The following lines from ~/.xine/config
give vdpau_h264_alter a higher priority:
