Sorry Klaus I only seen your post now.

Thanks a lot for implementing Arabic Language, Klaus. Unfortunately I dont know
any Arabic channels
broadcasting Arabic EPG on those sats,,, I guess they are only on Nilesat 7w
and Badr 26e.
But using external Xmltv importer(like rytec xmltv for OSN) JSC sports on 13e
has Arabic EPG.

I'm adding this to the core VDR code right now.
Can you please name a channel that has an actual EPG in Arabian?

Arr ... absolutely not, that's totally my mistake, sorry!

Please replace

VDRPLUGINS="-P xineliboutput"

with

VDRPLUGINS=""

in $HOME/vdr-1.7.15/runvdr

I had a quick look at the Arabic menus using xineliboutput and forgot about
that change.

The menus look fine, some text passages are not translated yet.

Try again with this setup of runvdr

[vdr] vdr] Arabic language EPG is inappropriately displayed

2010-09-12 Thread Mr. Tux
Each of those packages carry the {u} marker, so they should be replaced by
other packages, and are no longer in use.

Please do yourself a favour and backup important data anyway before you setup
a build environment.

I made some adjustments to the runvdr script:

export VDR_LANG="$LANG"
export LC_ALL="$VDR_LANG"
export LC_COLLATE="$VDR_LANG"
export VDR_CHARSET_OVERRIDE="ISO-8859-6"

VDRPRG="/usr/local/src/vdr/vdr-1.7.15/vdr"

# For other options see manpage vdr.1
VDROPTIONS="-w 60 --port=2001 --log=3 \
--config=$HOME/vdr-1.7.15/ \
--video=$HOME/vdr-1.7.15/videos \
--localedir=/usr/local/src/vdr/vdr-1.7.15/locale/ \
--lib=/usr/local/src/vdr/vdr-1.7.15/PLUGINS/lib"

VDRPLUGINS="-P xineliboutput"
# You will need to select your output device plugin if you want
# to use VDR to watch video. For instance, for a "Full Featured"
# DVB card that would be
# VDRPLUGINS="-P dvbsddevice"

VDRCMD="$VDRPRG $VDROPTIONS $VDRPLUGINS $*"

while (true); do
  eval "$VDRCMD"
  if test $? -eq 0 -o $? -eq 2; then exit; fi
  done

It makes no sense to load/unload dvb drivers right now, so let's leave those
code passages aside, you can run it without sudo then.

Hi,
just copy the diff file in the directory where VDR installed, later open
a console, move to the path where VDR is present and give this command:

patch -p1 < ./VDR/path/patch.diff

Obviously replace the names of your real files.

Please see

  ftp://ftp.tvdr.de/vdr/Developer/vdr-1.7.0-bidi.diff.gz

for a patch that I received a while ago from Osama Alrawib .
I haven't had time to take a closer look at this, or even try it myself yet.

>From a quick look at it I'm afraid it produces quite a memory leak,
because 'Rightstr' is allocated but never deleted.

I'm also not sure about the language code "ar". Normally these are
all three letter codes, so maybe it should be "ara"?

Let me know if this patch works for you, and any improvements
you might implement. I hope I'll find the time to add this to the
VDR source later on.

Hi,

The VDR menu in yavdr0.2 does not support Arabic i.e There is no Arabic option
to set.

Where is the Locale Option? All I did was editing the /etc/default/vdr and
ADDING this line:

VDR_CHARSET_OVERRIDE="ISO-8859-6" ,,, The "ISO-8859-6" is the Arabic ISO

The result now Arabic lettrs per se are recognized(they were appearing squares
before) but as I said they are set to be read from left to right and the
letters are seperated from each other.

I used XBMC LIve TV and the TV guide is displayed fine. So I think something
has to be changed in VDR code perhaps. I hope Klaus help us in this issue.

I think half of it is not necessary - question are:
- does vdr have arabic translation allready ?
- if not, ist it possible to have it, including right to left display
- what is required to make vdr display the text correctly from right
to left for languages requiring this

This should be questions which someone here should be able to answer.

Question to sami which remains:
- What Locale you have set ? (ar_??)
- Is the rest of the menus english or translated ?

[vdr] Arabic language EPG is inappropriately displayed

2010-09-08 Thread semsem85 sami

Hi,

I am using Yavdr 0.2 with VDR 1.7.15 and the EPG or EIT for arabic language is
inappropriately displayed in VDR. Using the arabic

ISO-8859-6 in etc/default/vdr now the letters are shown correctly but they
appear disjointed and are read from from left to right[whereas

normally Arabic is read from right to left and the letters should be
connected to each other to give a word and these words give a sentence
].

Is there any way to make the EPG readable in Arabic? Thanks alot.
