for the list
Pretty cool tyin' station..here's a fly i did night before
last...head looks much better now; than it does in this pic..i
managed to fix it a bit, lol. Still not at all happy with it..but thass
ok.i got a Thing bout heads..and this one pisses me
off.but, it's not the end of the world..lol. Of the 5 basic styles
of winging Salmon flies.Slips, Married, Mixed, Built, and Single
feather.this is what's known as a Mixed wing style. i very rarely do an
Artistic fly without a bead anymore.just KArazy bout beads. This
particular bead was very inexpensive. Hooks is a Sprite 5/0 extra long. The
tail is Kori Bustard.the butt is genetic saddle hackle, the bead veiling is
dyed burnt Orange Ring Neck Pheasent, and the wing is a combination of the dyed
Ring Neck, natural and dyed Golden Pheasent and dyed Hot Orange Amherst
Pheasent.throat is Olive Marabou.collar is Ring Neck Pheasent
feathers.two.body is just some dubbing that was handy, and looked like
a pretty cool color to use...lol. i've got every dubbing known to
man.but my favorite nowdays in Arizona.if you've never tried
it.DO! Stuff is out of this world GORGEOUS! http://www.azflyfishing.net
John Rohmer owns the company and makes and dyes all his own
dubbing.INCREDABLE stuff. mark.

Here are pictures of the converted vanity that i use for my fly tying. I am
currently remodeling our craft room so all my fly tying stuff is boxed up or
in a travel case, so it looks real clean. The best part that i like about the
tying station is the mirror. I can take unique pictures of tied flies. The
picture would capture both sides of the fly.

DEAN.WOW! Great to hear from you.hope your health is good. i'm so
glad i saw this post..check it out. We'll be in Montana on May 4th,
give or take a day.and Misa would be SO happy to be able to go to that pond
you took me to, that time we spent two days float tubing for those BIG Trout.
It'd have to be that first pod we went to.not the one you own.because
we're gonna be on a very tight scheduall, and have to be in N.Y. by the 9th.
Please email me privately if it's possible. She really needs some lake fishing
practice for the Championship in Scotland in June. Almost all the fishing at
this year's WFFCCS is gonna be on still water. i hope you see this in time to
answer by tonight or tomorrow. Sun. morning very early, we hit the road.

Yeah, and then some of us could get a word in "edgewise." I'm not aware
of a mass exodus of VFB members.
The very least you can do is change the "subject line" instead of using Material
Swap over and over. If the sugject/thread
is new, then please change the subject line. Material Swap as a viable subject
was worn out long ago. OK!

should have been 3 weeks ago. I've never remembered you having any trouble

Yeah, and then some of us could get a word in edgewise.  I'm not aware
of a mass exodus of VFB members.

The very least you can do is change the subject line instead of using Material
Swap over and over.  If the sugject/thread

is new, then please change the subject line.  Material Swap as a viable subject
was worn out long ago. OK!

  Why?

If we did that then there would be little if any traffic on the list. I
know you mean no harm but suggestions like this is what has caused VFB to
lose  many of the tyers that used to support the list, IMHO. How can it be
said that the list is cluttered. It appears that there are less than 50 messages

2009-04-24 Thread jbalmer

It appears that there was a problem w/ my e-mail address. I didn't
realize I had an account w/ my business address too that's the one
that was banned. Don't know why but oh well.
As to the pond, my 5wt isn't the best rod for casting into a 20 knot
wind. Crosswind, I was almost God-like, but there were a few sine
waves going into it. The crappies the bass seemed to want it that
way, so I got to work on part of the qualification test.

A suggestion. Why not use the VFB Chat Room, for back and forth
posts on the VFB list. Would sure keep the list from getting so
cluttered. I know, I can just hit the delete key. But the Chat
Room could really serve a good purpose right about now. We used to
use it often, especially at night.

Hi Alan.ALL his dubbings are great...(i've seen various people usin'
them etc.), but the only one i've bought so far (in EVERY Color), is the
Semi-Seal. The main reason i LOVE it..well, two reasons, is because 1. i
don't have to make blends (big time saver).because i hate (for the most
part) to use most dubbings right outta the package.and prefere to blend
different colors/mix 'em together to come up with more natural, softer, hipper,
blends. but with his stuff...that isn't nessessary, cause it's already
been done...his colors are never strikingly ONE thing...he's got KILLER
blends. And 2. the fibers are SERIOUSLY LONG...and i almost ALWAYS
pick out my bodies...BIG TIME. i just LOVE picked out bodies...and that
AZ dubbing can
be picked out for days...then you can pick it out some more. KILLER
stuffhe's sposed to be sendin' me some samples of the new Semi-Seal
soon...says it's got even longer fibers.YES
Man, i can dig itcause i NEED it LONG.
When you workin' on hooks all the way up to say.size 20/0.you NEED
LONG fibers...with picked out bodies the way i like 'emyou
wanna have the fibers to at least reach down as far as parrelle with the hook
point. Now apply that theory to a 20/0 hook, and you begin to understand what
i'm after in fiber length. later, mark

Mark:

which one of John Rohmers are you talking about.
The Sparkle Yarn, the Simi Seal, The Rabbit Sheen or the Minnow Hair?

for the list

Good luck on your trip, Alan. I'm looking forward to hearing your big
fish tales when you return.
Next time you come this way, I'll make it a point not to have a bunch of
other stuff scheduled.

Take Care.
