Wes,
I should be downstairs today, will check the hook # and see what smallest size
I have.
I think it might be a sz 10. You can make real good poppers, gurglers and
sliders from foam earplugs. They are easy to shape and take colored pens well.
I used a lot of yellow ones but I have seen them in
The "Kink " hooks I have are the Mustad 33903 and the 33900.
The 33903 has two bumps and the 33900 has a single bump.
I have them down to size 12.

Please disregard this message if you are not participating in this swap.
Just as a friendly reminder, I have received 3 sets for the swap with one more
on the way. I know the tying deadline isn't until December 1st, but I just
thought I would give an update as to the status.

Hi J
Take a look at the Garthside Gurgler. It can be any size or color.
It's easy to tie and easy to fish, and may work on trout. I use them
for bluegills and bass. Never tried any poppers on trout, but no reason
this one wouldn't work. Just Google it. Most I've seen are white, but
I've used many c
Steve,
I have a friend who ties gurglers down to size 14 and 16 and he DOES
catch trout on them.
Of course, our only trout within a 4 hour drive are stockers, and
they aren't overly intelligent.

Wow, the last two days on the VFB have been something to behold. I've

Has anyone tried to tie a size 32 fly? The smallest I have ever tied was a size
24. I was trying to find a place that sales them. I know that mustad makes them
but I can't find them anywhere.

Hi John,
I don't think that you'll find a Mustad 277 at any store. They're not
made any longer. There are a few people (and you know who you are!) who
have some. I think that I still have ONE - although it's hard to tell
because I don't want to open the bag. I tried tying a fly on one
once
Wes/Tony:
You have to be careful of the type of ear plug you use some, as I found out,
actually absorb water.
Here's a couple of ear plug sliders. Don't use them much.

Yep. Here's proof that people do tie size 32 flies.

Tony Spezio and myself participated. There maybe more folks from the VFB that were part of it.
Mustad doesn't make the size 32 anymore. I do have a couple of size 32's for days whe
Jerry,That was a good while back. I had 25 of those hooks and gave a number of them to list members that broke the ones they got from Hans when they clamped them in the vise jaws.. I only have four now but I did tie seven flies on those hooks when I could see. LOLTony--- On Wed, 10/15/08, [EMAIL PR

I have a story for you. In the SFP, I received a size 32 from Hans W, and
proceeded to try and tie a fly. The jaws spit it out. I tried to bow out but
Hans sent me another. I was trying to get it in my vise when it slipped and
disappeared when I knocked a couple of things over when
Jerry,
Thanks, I should of mentioned to use the DENSE foam ones. I have also seen them

I missed out on two boxes of 100 each at a fly fishing show I was tying at in

I tried to buy one box from the guy that bought them. No Dice.
Later I saw on E bay there was a box on bid. It went for 277.00.
