You know and are comfortable with FCP: get a mac.You know and are
comfortable with Vegas: get a pc.
You use Premiere: I'm so sorry. Learn FCP or Vegas.
You use Avid: Your boss is choosing for you.
You don't know any editing software and aren't comfortable with computers
period: probably get a mac.
Exactly. The problem is that the camera and the software will still be
looking for data on a firewire BUS. Adding a firewire to USB adapter, or
using a dual format external drive as a hub adapter, isn't going to
magically add a firewire bus that the software understands as being
firewire. And again
Hi,
i am trying to understand if you are really understanding between
yourselves. as i am not sure i wrote this message here:
I am afraid Roshani is thinking of connecting the camera do the
firewire port of the disk, and it will only work if the other firewire
port on that disk is connecte

Yes, they are both right. Both can use one system successfully for years.
I'd bet both can make the opposing system work well for them for years as

I was comfortable on my custom built PC video workstation but was open to
macs as I used them in

Heath is right. But Michael is right too. I've used windows forever - mostly
I suppose because I could never afford a Mac. I also l

Thanks Rupert. Just to clarify, if i hook up the hard drive to themacbook and
the video camera to the hard drive, i can download the video from the
tape in the video camera to the hard drive or my macbook?
Are there specific things to look out for in the hard drive to make sure this
would work

Or if you have a tapeless camera, you can store its files on the hard
drive, via the computer.
But if you can afford you probably want to get a bigger drive th
i have a external hd. with a firewire and usb 2 ports,
