[videoblogging] Vlogeurope 2010 - Lisbon

2010-03-28 Thread Miguel

Hi Joel et all,

This could be the place for Vlogeurope.
Looked around and the location is excellent and the place very good. Emailed
them to ask for a group price, and my starting point was ±15pax from november
12th to november 15th. I know it's just a rough estimate but it's a start. How
did it go in Budapest (nights and people)?

Mark your calendars,

Miguel.

P. S. - I'm meeting Byciclemark in Amsterdam (actually crashing at his
place) in June, so more brainstorming around that time I hope. In the meantime
I'll keep you posted.

Re: [videoblogging] VlogEurope 2010 - Lisbon.

2010-02-03 Thread joel
Hey Miguel - great to hear from you. I would love to be there and if the
dates are set far enough out I will absolutely try to do what I can to be
there. Best vlogeuropes thus far have been where a constant meeting space
is available. Our vlogeurope in Budapest was great because we rented out a
30 bed hostel. this gave us a great place to meet up and for most of a
place to stay. I will contribute some funds to make that happen if you do
the ground work on finding a space. Just needs to have internet and maybe a
wall to project some videos on... best is close to where things are
happening.

Hey Miguel...I notice no one has answered this message yet. Might be
better to post on . Not sure how many US
citizens can afford to travel overseas right now. Tough financial
times and an uncertain future. Not sure what the atmosphere is like in
Europe.

But I love the idea of an event in Portugal.

[videoblogging] VlogEurope 2010 - Lisbon.

2010-01-25 Thread miglsd27

VlogEurope 2010 - Lisbon.

I've had this on my mind for some time, and now is as good a time as
any to start spreading the word and getting people to find time in their
schedule to make it to Portugal in November. So why VlogEurope 2010 - Lisbon?

My only Vlogeurope happened in Milan 2006
, and I had the time of my life. The event
was very well put together by Deirdré and Andreas, and Milan and Bellagio
turned out to be a great place to hang out. But most of all I really enjoyed
the people I met there, and that's what drove me to try to put this together.

Every year I postpone going to VlogEurope, sometimes it's money, others
no time, one time a baby was born… so why not have VlogEurope here? Bicyclemark
and I have had this conversation more than once and since he's a regular visit
here making all this happen will be much easier.

Portugal is easily reachable from both sides of the Atlantic, and if I
had my way the event would mix up as much of the world as possible. It's not
expensive to fly here, and accommodations are reasonable by European standards.

What will happen? For me VlogEurope should be about what the people
attending want to do, but judging from previous editions the main thing will be
about having people together in a big session of vlog fun, and discovering the
city. Lisbon has seen a boom of really nice hostels, and since that turned out
good in Budapest, shouldn't we try something like that here? There will be lots
to see after, and also to eat and drink. Trust me ;).

Just trying to start the conversation and get some feedback. But we're
on!

 All the best,

Miguel.

P. S. - email me at mig...@gmail.com , twitter me at twitter.com/miglsd
and a webpage/wiki/whatever will see the light of day eventually. All
suggestions and input are welcomed!

Talk, Cory Doctorow, Gilberto Gil, and remix contributions from

PS those that won't be in Amsterdam can check out the film at

[videoblogging] VlogEurope 2008 date and time suggestion

2008-01-29 Thread Raymond M. Kristiansen
Hey all,

Some of you might have heard of VlogEurope. If you have not, VlogEurope is
an annual informal gathering of videobloggers from Europe and friends from
outside Europe. It has so far taken place three times: September 2005:
Amsterdam, November 2006: Milan, September 2007: Heidelberg.

This year we were hoping to let VlogEurope take place in a more central- or
Eastern European setting, and after Loiez (www.loiez.org) suggested
Budapest, we thought: Yeah! Budapest fulfills our mentioned and often stated
intention to move things east, it is cheap to get to, cheap to be in and we
hear of many good times there.

The date of such a "conference" is always tricky. After requesting feedback
from our community, we concluded that October 18th and 19th, Saturday and
Sunday, are the best dates – with hopes that as many people as possible can
be in Budapest Friday night. October is in the climate-friendly autumn,
squarely situated between the summer and christmas'y travel plans that you
might have.

If you have any feedback on this, you are welcome to leave them on this
mailing list, join the Vlog Europe Yahoogroup (
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vlogeurope), leave comments on our blog entry
(http://www.vlogeurope.com/blog, or e-mail me or Jeffrey Taylor
(thejeffreytaylor AT gmail.com) personally if you have questions or comments

We'll be coming out with further details on what we ourselves envision the
event to look like within the next couple of weeks.

Be sure to get the word out to anyone and everyone who would be interested
in coming to the event!

Best regards,

Raymond M. Kristiansen

the first weekend, or the second weekend (most vloggers seem to comefor the second one, which is perfect since then is when the vlogpartywill be), or - better still - come for the entire ten days ofVlogEurope!.

[videoblogging] VlogEurope!

2005-07-30 Thread R. Kristiansen
Hey all,

Some news about VlogEurope! - the ultimate videoblogging event of 2005
- at least here in Europe :)

Tonight a few of us (Gabemac, Max, Alex and myself) talked on AIM and
brainstormed what we want to do and how we want to do it.

Now it is clear that the name for this whole event will be
"VlogEurope!" and all the information will be on www.vlogeurope.com
asap.

VlogEurope! will last from September 9th-18th, which makes a full
blasting 10 days of vlogging events in Amsterdam and elsewhere in
Europe. The marathon event will have three stages:

September 9th-11th: IBC
In connection with the IBC conference (www.ibc.org) the videoblogging
community in Europe and elsewhere will be showing the media the
variety and depth of what we are doing. We will have people giving
press conferences, giving tutorials on how we for instance use ANT or
Mefeedia or blip.tv, and giving interested people cd-roms or DVDs with
a few selected vlogs, but also including loads of links to sites like
vlogdir so that this won't be about us deciding what vlogging "is",
but rather giving the outside world a window into this movement. Gabe
McIntyre from xolo.tv will be main responsible for this weekend's
activities and have the last say on what happens.

September 12th-15: Four days of training. Hopefully we have reached
quite a few new videobloggers during the weekend and in these days we
will be holding daily workshops (like the ones Ryanne and others have
done in NY) where we cover videoblogging from the basics to discussion
about techniques and approaches to vlogging. There will also be a
competition of some sort during these days.

September 16th-18th: Meet the vloggers (is that name copyrighted,
Markus et al?). This weekend is the vloggercue, the vloggers meeting
vloggers. This weekend no press are allowed to lurk at our party
unless they start videoblogging themselves. This weekend is about US.
Not as in the little clan of vloggers already vlogging, but the
meeting of people who by then are interested in vlogging and during
the 12th-15th have had their first baby steps into vlogdom. Friday
night is a pre-meet-up social event. Saturday we meet for lunch and
then we have a few hours of talks, discussions among ourselves. New
vloggers and old vloggers alike meet and discuss, almost like the
VloggerCon in NYC in January. This lasts say from 14-18, and then at
19-> we have a big vloggercue. Sunday 18th we share a brunch from
about 10 AM and then people are free to hang out together, vlog
Amsterdam, take their flights home or whatever. Main responsible for
this second weekend are currently Alex, Max, Duncan and myself.

The second weekend is when all we vloggers will meet, when we will
have our meet-up, as planned. The first weekend is when some of us
vloggers will be talking to the media, to the IBC delegations, will
create some stir, make some noise.

The two weekends are like the Yin and Yang of vlogging (™Michael
Verdi). Two aspects of a larger whole. The days inbetween are the days
when newborn vloggers can explore the vlogosphere, find their own
spheres, and explore their own new-found voice.

So: VlogEurope! is September 9th-18th, and we finish the ten days with
a smashing vlog-party on the 17th (including celebrating two
birthdays) and a quiet brunch on sunday morning.

All of the above is very unsettled, and we are still figuring out just
how we want this, but I guess it's better to give you more information
and tell you the details are uncertain than clamming shut and going
"You will see".

Best regards,

Raymond M. Kristiansen
on behalf of himself but hopefully also most of the other stakeholders
in this ;)

ps. The main point is, there are not two competing events. Come for
the first weekend, or the second weekend (most vloggers seem to come
for the second one, which is perfect since then is when the vlogparty
will be), or - better still - come for the entire ten days of
VlogEurope!.
