Hi Les. I'm currently using the high quality Vocalizer Expressive Karen voice
and I don't hear any of the issues you and other people are hearing. Maybe try
to slow down your speech and see if that helps. Also, Apple really can't do
anything about the voices as the Vocalizer Expressive voices

Are the Vocalizer Express voices separate from the HQ voice that one downloads
from within the Accessibility menu? My speech rate is set to 40%, and I'm
pretty sure that slowing it down will not impact the clipping of vowels.

I don't agree that Apple can't do anything about the voices from Nuance.
Apple chose to go with Nuance as a provider. If Nuance isn't meeting
Apple's needs, then Apple can go with another provider. Also, I'm sure
some money is changing hands between Apple and Nuance, so I'm sure Apple
has some

It sounds slightly different, but is not cutting or clipping words etc.

Hi Les. Actually, the compact and high quality voices are both from Vocalizer
Expressive. And Maria, the reason why Karen sounds different is because Nuance
has tweaked her voice in order to make her sound more human. I wish they
would've done the same with other voices like Samantha, Daniel,
HI. I didn't like it at first but now that I'm used to it. I find it quite
good.
