I try other voices briefly but always go back to compact Samantha! She's like
an old friend now! Smile.

Well, given the fact that there are apparently plenty of people on these lists
who don't think the voices are problem, maybe Apple isn't hearing a lot from
people who do think they are problem. And maybe they don't know. After all, the
number of people who use these voices, compared to the
Sorry, I was just assuming Apple was paying some royalties to Nuance to
use their voices, so just like any other customer, they'd have the right
to raise the issue with their supplier. I also assume Nuance gets quite
a bit of mileage out of having their voices on such a popular device, so
Unless you know that Apple has input into this whole deal, or you can prove

don't think you can blame Apple for the crappy voices. Where Apple could
improve would be either to insist that nuance up their game, which
You're right, but Apple chooses to use and upgrade these voices, and I'm
sure they also have some influence with Nuance, so I think it's fair to
let Apple share some of the responsibility.

The default Samantha is much faster and better in my opinion. I deleted

Hi, the enhanced Samantha is, excuse the language, but honestly and truly
screwed. I had to immediately delete her, once I heard her. What happened to
her? She
Apple gets these voices from Neuance. When an update comes out, Apple
updates the voices, so it isn't really Apple's fault. I do know what you
mean about Samantha. I use Alex, or Fred.

Hello Dan, I echo what you are saying. The quality of voices are very poor with
this new update. One often wonders why they touch what isn't broken. The
voices were not bad before they should just have left it alone. Just my opinion.

Hi Dan,
It seems to me that there is a little bit of a distortion going on with these
voices, it's almost like what used to happen if you have an analog recorder and
you had your recording will set just a little bit too high, so that it was over
modulated or somewhat distorted. Alex doesn't do
