I found this thread on Applevis, and think it might answer your question:

If I have both my phone and watch connected to my Plantronics Voyager Legend

is there a toggle to switch between 1 and the other? If there's a toggle,
 how do I activate it?

I tried this today, both were said to be connected, but I could only hear my
phone, nothing from the watch. And, nothing was coming from the watch
itself, so I'm guessing it was connected. Maybe it was a volume setting on
the watch that was low, I don't know.

Thanks in advance for any help. Keith

 Hi Carol,

I've written to one of the tech people at HIMS to let them know about
 the
lag in writing and correcting text using Smart Beetle. I am not sure
 -
 nor
do I hold my breath - whether they will take note of the problem. But
 I
thought I'd let them know anyway because that's quite a point against
 buying
their product which otherwise is very attractive.

I will write to accessibility at Apple as I always do when I encounter
 the
problem. I haven't done so so far because I wasn't sure whose patch
 it
 is.
it's getting rather confusing who is responsible for what.

Please keep my e-mail in your contacts and let me know what you've
 found
out. And maybe if you wish, please send me your e-mail address for my
records privately. I will keep in touch with respect to Smart Beetle.

 Best wishes

I don’t know, I’ve not tried magazines. I suppose it will depend on how large
the magazine is. You can raise the height of the Fopydo to 14 inches above the
document and still have it be stable. That is just what he has marked so you
can be sure the platform is level. You could possibly get it even higher, but
it might become too top heavy.

IPod touch sixth generation battery life

2015-08-27 Thread Mary Otten
For those of you who have purchased the newest iPod touch, I am curious how is
the battery life? I have an iPad mini, which I like quite a bit, but I know
that the touch has a little bit better chip in it. I also have an iPhone 5 S,
which I'm really satisfied with, but I noticed that I'm not getting the battery
life out of it that I used to, not surprising given how much I use it. So I'm
thinking about upgrading my phone and turning the 5S into more or less an iPod
touch. My old for S is about done. I'm curious about the new touches battery
life, however, because it would be far cheaper to get one of those and then it
would be to purchase a new phone. All of this is just in the thinking stage. I
have read articles about the battery life compared to the iPad mini, but of
course, that is with the video fully engaged. And I don't plan to do that with
a new touch. So, any comments would be appreciated.

Hello,

So, I was listening to my music on my iphone all day.

I got the battery is running low message and for the next 3/4 hours I put it
on the charger.

I heard the last song play, and thought that I went through my song list for
the day. I thought no problem, and sense my work day was about over, didn't
restart it.

At the end of my work day, I took the phone off the charger, and realized it
was off.

I have tried to turn the phone back on, and no luck. Now that I am home,
have it charging again from my computer like I have done with the phone
sense I got it and it still hasn't come back on.

I have an Iphone 6+.

Any help would be appreciated.

Especially sense I use my phone as an alarm to wake me up in the morning for
work heh.

I kind of need it badly lol.

Hi Jeremy,

I would also try plugging the phone using the supplied adapter into a wall
outlet as opposed to the computer. It is possible that the computer is in
generating sufficient power to get the battery back up to where it needs to
be before it will let the iPhone power back on.

Re: IPod touch sixth generation battery life

I bought it on July 19th.
I usually lock it while listening to books or music.
I am not sure it is getting as good battery life as my 5th Generation did when

I'm probably getting half of that or less, I think.
I have not kept a running log or anything, so it might be more.

RE: crashed iphone?

2015-08-27 Thread Paul Roberts
I had to do this, soon after I got my Iphone 5s.

One afternoon, I noticed I was getting no sound and when I checked with a
neighbor, they too couldn't see anything and so when I called the Apple Store
in Liverpool, they advised me to hold down, both the home and on-off buttons
together, for around 20 seconds

Whilst this didn't work ,I plugged my Iphone in, via the cable and plug which
came with it and after around 10 minutes or so, it started working again.

In more recent months, I have had a similar thing happen, whereby Voiceover
just stopps talking altogether but then it will sometimes come back on of it's
own acord.

All very strange indeed and rather irritating.

Regards

Paul.

video fully engaged. And I don't plan to do that with a new touch. So, any
 comments would be appreciated.

I use flipboard, and it appears to be quite accessible. Sometimes I have to
hunt around the screen to find out where the content is coming from. It's on

signed up for two way too much stuff and I have way too much material to read!

Is anyone using the Flipboard app? It really seems quite accessible for the
most part. Sometime ago, I got in there probably with an older version, and
set up a bunch of stuff that I would now sort of like to get rid of. I also
just migrated my Zeit profile. Zite has not been very accessible for a very
long time. I think Flipboard bought them out and now they're migrating over.
What I am really looking for is an overview with an eye towards
accessibility, to find out how to simplify the interface as much as
possible, get rid of as much of the things that I don't want as possible.

Calling 9 1 1 with SIRI

2015-08-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello,

A year or two ago there was a discussion about how to best call 9 1 1 in a
true emergency situation. Many on the list expressed concern that their
dialing skills are maybe not so good and they were afraid that in a real
emergency and under a lot of stress they may not be able to quickly bring up
the emergency call screen from the lock screen and dial 9 1 1. At the time
various apps were discussed as literally dozens of them exist to help with
this. Some are very basic and others offer more features like dialing other
emergency contacts or making it easy to send one's GPS coordinates to the 9
1 1 operator.

When this discussion took place, it was not possible to call 9 1 1 by
telling SIRI to Call 9 1 1. SIRI would inform you at that point that she
couldn't do that. Recently I heard a Podcast where a situation was mentioned
where a young guy got pinned under his car when he was doing repairs and his
jack collapsed. Apparently he had his iPhone in his pocket and was somehow
able to activate SIRI and shout Call 9 1 1. My first thought was that this
is nonsense since it doesn't work. Then I thought that maybe things changed
so I simply tried it. I told SIRI to Call 9 1 1 and surprise surprise,
SIRI replied Calling emergency services in 5 seconds. Of course at that
point I quickly hung up since I didn't really want to call, but it is good
to know that one can now use SIRI in case of emergency to reach a 9 1 1
operator. I think the 5 second delay is a good way to prevent accidental
calls and it allows one to try it out. Just make sure you have a reliable
way to hang up before the call goes through, probably best with the Earpods
where you can simply press the hang up button on the headset remote.

Regards,

Sieghard

I would also try plugging the phone using the supplied adapter into a wall

Hi Jeremy,

I would also try plugging the phone using the supplied adapter into a wall
outlet as opposed to the computer. It is possible that the computer is in
generating sufficient power to get the battery back up to where it needs to
be before it will let the iPhone power back on.

Have you tried plugging your headphones in to make sure that the speaker is
not muted? I bet that's what you're dealing with.

Using native app, haven't been able to since past few updates, even though

 Thank you.

Difference Between Using a HotSpot or a Jetpack

2015-08-27 Thread Destene Noller
Hi Everyone,

Can someone explain the difference between using your phone as a HotSpot, or
using a Jetpack? And, in either case, do they both use your phone data?

Thanks so much!

Re: Difference Between Using a HotSpot or a Jetpack

2015-08-27 Thread Alex Hall
One uses your phone to simulate a Jetpack, one *is* a Jetpack. Functionally,
they both do the same thing, the only difference is one is on your phone and
the other is a separate, dedicated device. If you use your phone, yes, it takes
data; if you use a Jetpack, it does not. However, most cell plans nowadays give
you a set amount of data to be shared between all your lines, of which your
Jetpack is one. Thus, you can think of all data used by any device on your plan
as counting toward your limit. Of course, this varies from provider to provider
and plan to plan, so check with your particular provider to see how things work
in your situation. The trend, though, is toward shared data among all lines on
a plan.
