Music Library

2019-11-03 Thread Victor Gouveia
Hi Folks,

As of this latest update, 13.2, I am finding my daughter’s iCloud library on my
phone.

First some background...

I have two iPhones, a 6S, which I am using, and an XS, which my daughter is
using. Both are using different numbers, but the same Apple I.D., so
consequently, she’s got Apple Music, and a subscription.

I also use Apple Music, but not the cloud music, I use the stuff I get off my
computer that is uploaded to the phone.

I have turned off Apple Music in the music settings, and even when my iTunes
shows the music in my library on my computer, when I sync the music to my
phone, , it tells me I cannot sync downloaded music to my phone, which is fine.
I don’t even know how iTunes on my computer has the music from my daughter’s
iPhone, since she doesn’t even sync with this computer.

Any ideas as to how I can get this turned off so her music isn’t showing on my
phone?

I’m finding every second song is hers, even though I’ve set my music to
shuffle, and I’m not following any playlist, it’s just a shuffling of my music
on my phone.

Hope I’m explaining this right...

If anyone has a solution for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

I’ve even gone into the iCloud settings, but I can’t find music as one of the
apps using iCloud.

Anyone have any ideas?

Victor

Before I found out about the screen curtain my cat "swiped" mine on more than
one occasion, I think usually by accidentally dragging her tail over the
screen.

I've also seen a yarn with a percentage of silver blended into it that can be
used to knit or crochet conductive gloves.

Yes, any skin contact, or any contact by a conductive material like what they
make smart devices styluses out of will result in the phone thinking the was a
touch.
You can even by gloves with that material on the finger tips.
For that matter, you can put the iPhone in a ziplock bag and use it through the
plastic.

Your iPhone touch screen will respond to anything with the electrical
capacitance of your finger, such as another part of your body, a stylus
or glove designed to work with your touch screen, and more. I've set my

I only used it once a couple of years ago when my wife and I were in Calgary

able to get through the ordering process, I found it very cluttered and
difficult and on top of it the food took forever to arrive and was not in very
good shape by the time it did and I doubt I'll ever use it again.

Richard,
Sorry, but we are currently all sold out of the Rainbow 2 Color Reader. Due to
technical problems with our component suppliers, we are currently doing a
complete redesign for the Rainbow 3. It is currently planned to be available
sometime during the last of half of next year…

Hi Richard,

I would also be interested like you if the Rainbow could pick up LED lights on
devices. That way we could tell if devices are charged up and other things. Let
me know if you ever find out if it will pick up LED lights.

You must have missed part of the thread, I sent the response I received from
them stating they are not able to get some of the components so they are
working on a complete redesign and hope to have the Rainbow 3 out in the later
half of 2020.

I love my Rainbow A2 color identifier. I paid only $20 and this one out
performs the more expensive ones I had in the past. I did not know the name of
it until today when I had my Husband read the name to me. The name is found
inside the battery compartment. The 2A is small, about 2” x 1.5” and has a key

A couple of things to consider here. You could reach into your pocket and
unlock the iPHONE with the passcode. I just did that with the iPHONE in my
pocket while wearing earpods. I use touch typing and was able to enter my
passcode easily. The iPHONE was upside down in my pocket and I simply dragged
my finger to the right digit and then lifted my finger to enter it. I did this
for each number in my passcode and the iPHONE then unlocked. There's no way to
unlock it with your voice so you can't have it completely hands-free.

Once the iPHONE is unlocked, you can then return it to your pocket and use it
hands-free. You'd want to turn off the auto-lock feature so id didn't lock on
you after too much inactivity. Also, don't forget that it's possible to make
and receive calls and do other things with Siri even if the iPHONE is locked
presuming your security settings allow for this. Voice Control might extend the
possibilities quite a bit. I have yet to experiment with this.

It sticks with basically 40 color names rather than trying to be cute.

If you have a Colorino and are satisfied, stick with it.

Carolyn, Don't unpair and re-pair. Go to audio in accessibility, and it should
show toward the bottom sound to right and sound to left, not sure of the words
but it is obvious. Toggle both of these, and after toggling off and back on the

there are no apps that are dependable for color ID.

The Rainbow II color identifier is the most reliable device, and is around $75.

Or, you could use Be My Eyes or Aira, or Facetime or Skype with a friend.

In my experience, the Rainbow II is more accurate. And it is only $70.00.

It is far more portable.

It sticks with basically 40 color names rather than trying to be cute.

It has been over 5 years since I tried a Colorino.

If you have a Colorino and are satisfied, stick with it.

But, if you need a device, try the Rainbow II. I believe they have a good
return policy but I haven’t read the details on the web site for a while.

Re: how to unlock your iphone XR when you are whereing a blutooth ear piece

2019-11-03 Thread Michael Feir
A couple of things to consider here. You could reach into your pocket and
unlock the iPHONE with the passcode. I just did that with the iPHONE in my
pocket while wearing earpods. I use touch typing and was able to enter my
passcode easily. The iPHONE was upside down in my pocket and I simply
dragged my finger to the right digit and then lifted my finger to enter it.
I did this for each number in my passcode and the iPHONE then unlocked.
There's no way to unlock it with your voice so you can't have it completely
hands-free.

Once the iPHONE is unlocked, you can then return it to your pocket and use
it hands-free. You'd want to turn off the auto-lock feature so id didn't
lock on you after too much inactivity. Also, don't forget that it's
possible to make and receive calls and do other things with Siri even if
the iPHONE is locked presuming your security settings allow for this. Voice
Control might extend the possibilities quite a bit. I have yet to
experiment with this.

Hi I have the 10 XR and I had on A Bluetooth ear piece and was wondering.

Can you while wearing an ear piece like that unlock the 10 XR phone with out
taking it out of your pocket if so how do you do this?

Cause if you can't then what good is it having the phone in your pocket if you
need to have the phone at your face to unlock it while wearing A Bluetooth ear
piece.

Cause if this is the case then you just shouldn't use A Bluetooth ear piece
with the phone cause then it really isn't hands free.

how to unlock your iphone XR when you are whereing a blutooth ear piece

2019-11-03 Thread Casey

Hi I have the 10 XR and I had on A Bluetooth ear piece and was wondering.

Can you while wearing an ear piece like that unlock the 10 XR phone with
out taking it out of your pocket if so how do you do this?

Cause if you can't then what good is it having the phone in your pocket
if you need to have the phone at your face to unlock it while wearing A
Bluetooth ear piece.

Cause if this is the case then you just shouldn't use A Bluetooth ear
piece with the phone cause then it really isn't hands free.

Re: VO and Bluetooth Earbuds

2019-11-03 Thread kelby carlson
I use the Anker Soundbuds. They were under $20, and for the price sound
excellent. I doubt I'll change models anytime soon—the elevated prices just
aren't worth it, especially considering the battery life on the Soundbuds is
decent and they charge very fast.

Re: Rainbow II Color Identifier

2019-11-03 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Albert,
You must have missed part of the thread, I sent the response I received from
them stating they are not able to get some of the components so they are
working on a complete redesign and hope to have the Rainbow 3 out in the later
half of 2020.

I love my Rainbow A2 color identifier. I paid only $20 and this one out
performs the more expensive ones I had in the past. I did not know the name of
it until today when I had my Husband read the name to me. The name is found
inside the battery compartment. The 2A is small, about 2” x 1.5” and has a key
ring on it.

I suspect the Rainbow 3 will be better even than the Rainbow II.

Richard,
Sorry, but we are currently all sold out of the Rainbow 2 Color Reader. Due to
technical problems with our component suppliers, we are currently doing a

Double tap the dish you want, flick through the options you'll be
presented with that let you customize it then at the end you'll find
an add to basket button. Once you're done go back to the menu of the
place and feel around the bottom left of the screen to find the view
basket button. Double tap it and follow the instructions to checkout.

you may have accidentally hit three fingers instead of two and muted voiceover.
Try a three finger double tap again.
Then go to settings, General About.
You are probably on 12.4.

If you didn’t do this yesterday, you will have to use a computer. I believe
12:00 AM November 3rd, was last night. The date changes at midnight, so really
it should have said 11.59 PM on November 2nd.
I hope I’m wrong for those who were still on iOS 9.X.
Here is the full article:

Still using an iPhone 5? You’ll need to update by Sunday, Apple warns
1:45 pm October 30, 2019
Are you still using your reliable iPhone 5? Unless you update before midnight
Sunday, you might end up being out of luck.

(Update instructions are
HERE.)

Apple is warning users of iPhone 5 to install an update before then or they
will lose the ability to surf the web, check email and access the app store.

This is due to what Apple describes as a GPS time rollover issue that will
affect the time and date on your phone.

It’s especially important to
update your device’s software wirelessly or using your computer
before Nov. 3 to maintain accurate GPS location and to continue to use
functions that rely on correct date and time including App Store, iCloud, email,
and web browsing, according to Apple.

Here’s how Apple describes it in their support notice:

block quote
Starting just before 12:00 a.m. UTC on November 3, 2019,* iPhone 5 will require
an iOS update to maintain accurate GPS location and to continue to use
functions that rely on correct date and time including App Store, iCloud,
email, and web browsing. This is due to the GPS time rollover issue that began
affecting GPS-enabled products from other manufacturers on April 6, 2019.
Affected Apple devices are not impacted until just before 12:00 a.m. UTC on
November
3, 2019.

Update your device’s software
It’s always a good idea to keep the operating system on your iPhone updated. If
you have an iPhone 5, it’s especially important to update your device’s
software wirelessly or using your computer before November 3 to maintain
accurate GPS location and to continue to use functions that rely on correct date
and time including App Store, iCloud, email, and web browsing.

If the update to iPhone 5 is not completed by November 3, 2019, you will be
required to back up and restore using a Mac or PC in order to update because
over-the-air software updates and iCloud Backup will not work.
block quote end

The handful of users who still have the iPhone 4s or the iPad 4th generation
will also be required to update their devices, according to Apple, though
failure to do so will only mean that GPS functions on that device won’t work.

you may have accidentally hit three fingers instead of two and muted voiceover.
Try a three finger double tap again.
Then go to settings, General About.
You are probably on 12.4.

If you didn’t do this yesterday, you will have to use a computer. I believe
12:00 AM November 3rd, was last night. The date changes at midnight, so really

RE: update your iphone 5 today!

2019-11-03 Thread Richard Turner

Re: VO and Bluetooth Earbuds

2019-11-03 Thread Marie
I have several different BT headsets and no problem with VO coming through.
I believe the problems are mainly with Bose speakers and headphones.
I bought a Trekx Air for the ability to pair with two devices and switch
between them automatically but am less than thrilled. The sound quality on
phone calls is absolutely awful so that kind of takes away the use of the
auto switching.
Even though you have to manually switch the Apple Air pods, they are without
doubt the nicest headset I have ever used. There is almost zero latency, the
sound for both listening to music or books and on phone calls is fantastic
and the use of Siri is a total pleasure. Despite the high price tag and the
short battery life, in my opinion, they are my very favorites.
The Plantronics Edge is my next favorite and it does handle the auto
switching quite well and the price is lower. They have good sound but too
much lag time when using VO, and the battery life is little better than the
Air Pods.

I wouldn't mind VO not coming through an actual speaker, but obviously with
earbuds that would be a significant problem. I wasn't sure if VO had the
capability of differentiating between the two.

I am about to update to iOS 13, and I've heard that when connected to a
bluetooth speaker, VO output comes through the iPhone speaker but all
other sounds go to the bluetooth speaker. Is this true of earbuds also, or
will VO still speak through bluetooth earbuds?

Re: any plans to release an updated Apple Watch tutorial?

2019-11-03 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Terri,

Thanks so much for your note! I'm so glad you find my books helpful. I have no
plans to do a new Apple Watch book at the moment, but I will bring up the idea
with my boss at National Braille Press. While quite a few features have been
added to the watch since I wrote my book, most of it is still accurate. Have
you run across areas where you need help? That would be useful information to
pass on when I discuss this with my boss.

Thanks a lot,
Anna

their web site. I am going to check to see if possibly Amazon may have some in
stock. If not, I guess maybe I will await the Rainbow three.

Hi Donald,

I don't know whether you can transfer the purchases, but you can download the
music on your computer. In the Account menu in iTunes is a Check for Available
Downloads button. Choose that, and the music may download. If not, go to the
iTunes store and choose Purchased. You should be able to download the music
from there. You might also want to go into iTunes Preferences and set it to
automatically download items purchased on other devices.

Best,
Anna

I wouldn't mind VO not coming through an actual speaker, but obviously with
earbuds that would be a significant problem. I wasn't sure if VO had the
capability of differentiating between the two.

purchase imazing you can experience it with it's trial. It works really well.

with further reading documentation, imazing does work with ipods. However
you will need too install the apple drivers or you could install itunes and
itunes would install the drivers. If you're just going to install apple drivers
this is the apple packages you need to install:

apple applications support

aif you're running 64 bit operating system it would be

apple application support 64

apple mobile device 64

bonjur 64

Bonjur gives you the wifi support.

I think that's all you would need to install.

No, you cannot purchase music, it is a program to transfer content to

Re: best color identification app

2019-11-03 Thread Arlene
The best color identifier as far as I'm concerned is the one I have from
brytech from Canada. Unfortunate brytech is no longer in business, their web
site is no longer and their phone number is no longer active. Earl was always
so pleasant to talk with. I wrote to a few email lists I'm on where there's a
number of cadian listers, but no one seem to know what happened with brytech. I
don't remember having to translate one color for another color. For example
when a friend showed me her 3 color identifiers about 11 years ago, which was
the first time I had seen a color identifier, she told me just remember if you
get this identifier if it says it's gray it's really brown or something like
that. I'll like to lookinto the colorino. Unfortunately we went through
contacting the owners of the rainbow identifier, and if I'm remembering right,
talking to the wife of the business, it was a sweet story how the color
identifer was developed and designed for her and for the interest of other
blind inividuals. We had a lovely talk with her. The talk with her was quite
pleasant, though she explained they were out of stock on the identifiers, and
she would call us to let us know when they got more identifiers in, and
unfortunately we never heard from her. It was really great in talking with her,
she answered all our questions and she also let us here the identifier, hearing
her seeing what colors things were that she had. So this is saying nothing
wrong since the talk was pleasant, just disappointing not knowing why we never
heard from her, but maybe the business is having some sort of troubles.I
remember also her husband used her voice for the identifier. I really like
having a stand alone identifier, but I hope one of these days there could be
one for the iphone that works well, maybe as well as the money identifier works
with the money.

  Hi,
You say “The Rainbow II color identifier is the most reliable device,” I’m
curious why you say this? Is it more reliable than the Colorino then?
I appreciate your thoughts on this topic that’s why I ask.
  Take good care.

there are no apps that are dependable for color ID.
The Rainbow II color identifier is the most reliable device, and is around
$75.
Or, you could use Be My Eyes or Aira, or Facetime or Skype with a friend.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Richard,

I am back with the same old question: to wit: can the Rainbow2 detect the
colour and number of leds, say, on a battery back-up iPhone case?

Thanks, Sandy.

You can transfer music from pc to phone. If you wanted too, before you purchase
imazing you can experience it with it's trial. It works really well. If you
need help, just ask.

Hello Arlene

Thanks very much for the info. The one final thing that I need before buying is
whether one can transfer music from pc to iphone?

with further reading documentation, imazing does work with ipods. However you
will need too install the apple drivers or you could install itunes and itunes
would install the drivers. If you're just going to install apple drivers this
is the apple packages you need to install:

apple applications support

aif you're running 64 bit operating system it would be

apple application support 64

apple mobile device 64

bonjur 64

Bonjur gives you the wifi support.

I think that's all you would need to install.

I do not quite understand you. An Apple iPod is an Apple device, so if Imazing
can transfer music from a pc to an iPhone the same would be true for an iPod.
Or do I totally misunderstand the whole concept of Imazing? So my question is
if one can transfer music from pc to iPhone or is it only possible to transfer
music from iPhone to pc?

Kind regards

Fanus

Hopefully someone has had experience with an ipod and imzing.

Hello Arlene

How does one copy music from PC to iPod using Imazing and where is the music
then stored on the iPod?

No, you cannot purchase music, it is a program to transfer content to an Apple
device.

I have been using WLTR2 since 2017 and have had no problem with it.

Note there are two programs WLTR and WLTR2 the latter works fine in my
experience.

I know some people are highly critical and dismissive of alternatives to ITunes
but some people prefer to use these packages.
