you can talk to them and it will be like a phone call. The person at your door
can’t see you. You can also send the video to anybody you’d like so if you

Presuming no RGB or backlighting, that's true for a good many keyboards. You
don't need to spend big bucks for very long battery life. However, looking at
the longevity time difference between when lighting is used and turned off,
it's very drastic. I recently read about a keyboard which could last ten months
without the lighting being turned on or fifteen days with lighting activated
and used. My Keychron keyboard is similar. I can get around 100 hours with the
lighting turned off. However, that drops to around 34 hours with the lighting
used. My keyboard is a compact low profile design so it has a smaller battery.
However, I think it still serves to illustrate the potential problem of
dramatically overestimating the charge remaining and not realizing that your
lighting is on. RGB lighting effects can cut down your batteries even more than
backlighting. For many people with sight, such lighting seems to be very
desirable despite the power tradeoff. For people like me who are totally blind,
the lighting is a liability.

It all depends on what keyboard you're using. Some Bluetooth keyboards don't
report their battery status to the battery widget on your iPhone. Also, there
are things like the size of battery your keyboard has and whether backlighting
or RGB lighting is used. These factors can change how long you can go between
having to charge your keyboard. Typically, keyboards which feature backlighting
or RGB lighting will have keyboard commands to turn that lighting off to save
tons of power. It can make a massive difference. You can usually find the
manual for your keyboard online and discover the command in therre or often by
reading or listening to reviews of your keyboard. You could then get sighted
assistence to let you know if the lighting is disabled. The Be My Eyes app or
FaceTime would be good for this. Once I'm aware of the needed key command, I've
been able to use the light detecting function in Seeing AI to tell whether my
keyboard lighting is off. It's easier to tell if your keyboard and iPhone are
in a darker place.
In the best case, your keyboard will report its battery level to iOS and you
can use the battery widget to check its current level. It can also indicate
when your keyboard is charging. Remember that you can change the order of the
widgets on your today view and move the battery widget to the top.
With keyboards which don't report their battery level, you could use an app
like Aira to get sighted assistance in checking the battery level. You'd need
to read about how your keyboard indicates the level of charge. It's usually
done via status lights. Other than that, good charging habits are what you'll
need. What I tend to do is to have an external power bank with me and plug my
keyboard and iPhone into it while I work. That way, only the power bank drains
and you're keyboard will remain topped up. This way, I just need to remember to
charge the power bank regularly. If you don't like the idea of having the
cables around all the time, then you should probably plug your keyboard in
every few days or so. That way, it will be ready if circumstances prevent you
from doing this. Hope that helps.

Yes. If you don’t, you’ll only be archived for like 6 hours or something
whereas with the cloud you are archived for a longer time, I can’t remember how
long. I’ve used the archive before once to demonstrate to Fedex that they had
delivered the wrong package, and it was very obviously the wrong package when
their driver was saying he’d delivered the correct one.

What do you
want to know? If you’re totally blind, you obviously won’t see who’s there but
you can talk to them and it will be like a phone call. The person at your door
can’t see you. You can also send the video to anybody you’d like so if you
don’t know where a package is at your door, you can send the video to someone
who doesn’t have ring and they can play it. I’ve sent some cute videos of my
kids to Grandma that way and once when we had a package dropped off I sent the
video to my dad and asked him to take a look, my husband was busy, my dad
wasn’t and I wanted the package in before it started raining.

Since Amazon Prime day is almost upon us.. I’m thinking about buying the ring

accessible, is it usable? Will also do their cloud subscription to offload my
videos. Any thoughts?

RE: Glucose meter

2022-07-06 Thread Star Gazer
You may also want to hop onto the NFB’s diabetic network.. ACB may have one
too.

And my how times have changed, I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant
with my second child, and I remember having to do the finger sticks and using a
talking glucose meter, at the time, there was nothing that could monitor
through my skin.

Be prepared that the diabetes doctor may know nothing about what is or isn’t
accessible, my doctors sure didn’t, prompting my then six-year-old to say “I
thought doctors were supposed to be smart, we figured this out in ten minutes”.

I would highly recommend speaking to your doctor or diabetes educator about
getting a Libre 2 glucose monitor. It is fully accessible with your iPhone. You
were the sensor on your arm for two weeks and you can have it set for high and
low glucose alerts. No need for fingersticks. My husband and I both use the
Libre 2 and absolutely love it.

Re: Question about Bluetooth keyboard

2022-07-06 Thread Michael Feir
It all depends on what keyboard you're using. Some Bluetooth keyboards
don't report their battery status to the battery widget on your iPhone.
Also, there are things like the size of battery your keyboard has and
whether backlighting or RGB lighting is used. These factors can change how
long you can go between having to charge your keyboard. Typically,
keyboards which feature backlighting or RGB lighting will have keyboard
commands to turn that lighting off to save tons of power. It can make a
massive difference. You can usually find the manual for your keyboard
online and discover the command in therre or often by reading or listening
to reviews of your keyboard. You could then get sighted assistence to let
you know if the lighting is disabled. The Be My Eyes app or FaceTime would
be good for this. Once I'm aware of the needed key command, I've been able
to use the light detecting function in Seeing AI to tell whether my
keyboard lighting is off. It's easier to tell if your keyboard and iPhone
are in a darker place.
In the best case, your keyboard will report its battery level to iOS and
you can use the battery widget to check its current level. It can also
indicate when your keyboard is charging. Remember that you can change the
order of the widgets on your today view and move the battery widget to the
top.
With keyboards which don't report their battery level, you could use an app
like Aira to get sighted assistance in checking the battery level. You'd
need to read about how your keyboard indicates the level of charge. It's
usually done via status lights. Other than that, good charging habits are
what you'll need. What I tend to do is to have an external power bank with
me and plug my keyboard and iPhone into it while I work. That way, only the
power bank drains and you're keyboard will remain topped up. This way, I
just need to remember to charge the power bank regularly. If you don't like
the idea of having the cables around all the time, then you should probably
plug your keyboard in every few days or so. That way, it will be ready if
circumstances prevent you from doing this. Hope that helps.

Swipe right with three fingers on your home screen to get to the today screen.
Then swipe right down the list till you come to the battery widget, it is quite

Re: Sirius-XM problem

2022-07-06 Thread William Outman
Yes, I am still having problems. Not even getting the rolling schedule
announcements and interview clips.
I was onthe phone with Sirius-XM yesterday and got the account info straigtened
out and confirmed I am on Platinum, which should be enough to get the games
without problems. I then uninstalled and re-installed the app as was advised
earlier in this thread. No luck. As of last night there were still problems.
The phone agent confirmed they are having technical issues, but must be pretty
major for this to be going on for over a week now.
Those games were the major reason I became a customer of what was then XM back
in 2005 when regular baseball coverage began.

Wow! So easy when you know how! For some reason there are many similar
adjustments under Quick settings but they do not have the same effect, at least
in this case. I love my iPhone, but it is getting way overloaded for VoiceOver
users et cetera thanks for your help

If you want to learn how to play the guitar or, for that matter, other
instruments, you can start with the BARD web site. BARD has a music section
which contains lessons from basic to advanced by folks like Bill Brown which
will take you step by step through learning playing techniques and specific
songs.

accessible, is it usable? Will also do their cloud subscription to offload my
videos. Any thoughts?
