It will take some practice before you will feel comfortable with face
ID. I honestly prefer touch ID myself, but I am getting used to face
ID.

Re: Face ID hit or miss

2022-09-03 Thread Anthony Vece
I would imagine that if this is a brand-new phone for the first few days or so
it would asked for your password more often than Face ID. This is so that
everything could stick to get it. However the suggestions you receivedmake

Re: Face ID hit or miss

2022-09-03 Thread Nimer Jaber
Hello,

A couple of things to try:
* Try holding it at arms-length away from your face, straight out in front
of you.
* If you are wearing glasses, try with them off.
* If you did not register face ID that way, try registering it again.
* Try using a microfiber cloth to wipe off the screen. Sometimes, skin oils
can cause interference, if you hold the phone up to your ear while on a
call.
* Note that, on device reboot, you will certainly need to enter your pin
again.

If none of these things help, I would probably go back to where you bought
it, or reach out to Apple, as it may be a hardware issue.

Face ID hit or miss

2022-09-03 Thread SoonerAnnie
Hi all,

Subject pretty much says it all. I just bought an iPhone 13 mini and have set
up Face ID with no difficulty; however, it seems that it'll work two or three
times and then will require me to use my pass code to unlock my phone. I am
getting very tempted to put my SIM card back in my SE 20 lol. It's much easier
to just reach over and unlock it with my finger than to pick up my mini and
hope I can get it to unlock without having to type in my pass code. Any
suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

RE: Having problems with pronunciation corrections

2022-09-03 Thread Richard Turner
My solution is to not use dictation. You are wanting to create a custom
pronunciation and most of the time when you dictate a word, it gives the
standard spelling or something useless.

Also, check that there isn’t a space being entered if you think the dictation
word would be useful.

This regards VoiceOver and correcting pronunciations. Specifically I haven’t
had success using the “dictate substitution” feature. It keeps coming back with
“transcription error.” This seems to have been the case for months now. Anyone
else experiencing this? Any fixes?

RE: voice memos query

2022-09-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
How do you know it doesn't work? If I play a recording in Voice memos it says
"Fast Forward 15 seconds" or "Rewind 15 seconds" and when I double tap it does
forward or rewind by the specified 15 second interval. You can check this by
checking the scrubber where the current elapsed time is displayed. If, for
example, I have a 1 minute recording and I start playing it and when I check
the scrubber is at 12 seconds I can then swipe right a few times and tap the
Fast Forward 15 seconds button. Then I can go back to the scrubber and I will
now see that the recording is at maybe a bit over 30 seconds because 12 seconds
+ 15 seconds is 27 xseconds, but it also takes me a couple of seconds each time
to from the scrubber to the fast forward button and back. I didn't test whether
this works if the recording is not playing.
