Can you remind me what the scrub jesture is? It's escaping me right now. Jen -Original Message- From: Christopher Chaltain Sent: Sunday, September 29, 2013 7:29 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Using the netflix app I used to use a double tap to bring up the controls, but I'm not sure this is still working in IOS 7. It was only ever intermittent in IOS 6. I'd suggest checking out the podcast on Applevis. I haven't listened to it myself, I've figured out most things on my own, but I've heard it's good and listening to it is definitely on my to do list. Once you get the controls up, you can double tap the done button to quit the show you're watching and then look for another show to watch. When the controls are visible, there's a rewind 10 seconds. There's also a scrub control which tells you how far into the show you are. You can flick up or down to move forwards and backwards by 10%. Once you've got it set to where you want, such as 50% for half way then double tap that scrub control and it'll take the show to that percentage, e.g. take you to the middle of the show in the 50% example. It's all pretty easy once you get those controls to show up, but I haven't found a consistent way to get them back. Note they do show up when you lock your phone and then unlock it, but this is a lot to do when you just want to rewind 10 seconds. Good luck and if you figure out an easy way to bring those controls up, let me know. On 09/29/2013 04:01 PM, Jen Colley wrote: Hi, I like in Canada and am using the netflix app on my iPhone 4s. sleep timer in the BARD app

I can't find one anywhere in the app. If someone can let me know if indeed there is a sleep timer, that would be great. That is one of the features I liked about the library of congress player. I guess the government has no confidence in web sites staying up by themselves? Are they going to cut all power to government buildings and that is why BARD will shut down? Re: no sound
A question about sounds, iPhone and iPad. I have phone vibration set to off. I have vibration set to on when silent. I have sounds for everything to 100 percent. I just put some notifications on iPad last night. As of this morning all I can get on my phone souns set to 100 percent is vibrations. No mail sound or notification sounds. Have not received a call so do not know what it is doing. I will check with someone and post if nobody can help. I have turned the phone off with the sleep/wake, taken everything out of the app switcher and even rebooted with the home and sleep/wake. I am receiving notifications from Breaking on iPad. As both devices are on same wifi, could there be a problem? I just received only a vibration on the phone for news and iPad had a sound. I don't care so much about this, but the mail sounds and other sounds I definitely want on my phone. I don't want to jump to conclusions that it is because I have 2 devices, but it seems so. Thanks to anyone who can illuminate my problem, and if you can come up with a solution, I really appreciate it. reggie and Allegra On Sep 29, 2013, at 11:04 PM, Lea Langley wrenlang...@sbcglobal.net wrote: Hi, this happened to me one time so it could be possible for you. Speaker issue
Hello I was on the phone earlier talking with An Apple representative, And all of a sudden, the speaker phone when out. It kind of came back on back off periodically through the convosation. Finally, I'm left with no sound whatsoever on the speakerphone. Music Won't play, VO won't work, or anything. I even tried calling myself from a land line, and the phone vibrates, but there is no sound and no ring tone, or email tone either. My ringer is on, and the volume is it 73%. I'm using an iPhone forS, and 6.13. Any ideas on what I can try? I think it may be a hardware issue. Thanks. So, download all them books now while the gettin's good. As we know, there isn't anything good on TV anyway. Re: sound problem
Hello Bryan, the process of determining what may be wrong starts with checking all of the obvious possibilities. For me, just about every possibility is obvious. I am a trainer, and have been a beta tester and AT setup and trainer in the past. I have no idea what you consider obvious unless you state specifically what you have already tried. That said, now that I know you will react negatively if I suggest something you consider obvious, I will reframe from taking any chances of giving you a wrong suggestion. Re: Audio player for MP3 audio books on IOS devices.
I haven't been able to figure out how to use Downcast for this. Can you please explain. On 9/30/13, Brett brettst...@gmail.com wrote: YHi, I use Downcast. If you are already using it for your podcasts, why not kill two birds with one stone. It will remember your place in the book, can continuously play all files in a folder, you can have it delete read files to save space on your phone if you wish. You can also speed up playback. If links with cloud services such as Box or Dropbox and has a much nicer media player than that built into those apps. Also, if you are listening to a book with multiple MP3 files then, unlike those other apps, it moves seamlessly from one file to the next to give unbroken playback without you having to navigate to the next file and double tap to get it to start playing. Also when you come back into CloudBeats it remembers where you were – but this is probably standard behaviour. Re: possible LOC shutdown
So, do you think sighted people never buy books that they want to read later? The only difference is in whether you want to fill 32 gigs of books on your phone or on the VRS' SDHC card. Quite frankly, depending on what you're reading, if you have more than a handful of books on either device, you're probably carrying them around just for the heck of it rather than because you're reading 24/7. In order to read any books from the NLS, the app authenticates with the NLS servers. If they are shut down, so is your ability to read. THis is why I prefer the use of both my Braille Sense and my Victor Reader Stream.
