I used to use a double tap to bring up the controls, but I'm not sure
this is still working in IOS 7. It was only ever intermittent in IOS 6.
I'd suggest checking out the podcast on Applevis. I haven't listened to
it myself, I've figured out most things on my own, but I've heard it's
good and listening to it is definitely on my to do list.

Once you get the controls up, you can double tap the done button to quit
the show you're watching and then look for another show to watch.

When the controls are visible, there's a rewind 10 seconds. There's also
a scrub control which tells you how far into the show you are. You can
flick up or down to move forwards and backwards by 10%. Once you've got
it set to where you want, such as 50% for half way then double tap that
scrub control and it'll take the show to that percentage, e.g. take you
to the middle of the show in the 50% example.

It's all pretty easy once you get those controls to show up, but I
haven't found a consistent way to get them back. Note they do show up
when you lock your phone and then unlock it, but this is a lot to do
when you just want to rewind 10 seconds.

Good luck and if you figure out an easy way to bring those controls up,
let me know.

Hi, all. I’ve found something in IOS 7 that I like very much. I use the timer
this evening for the first time in a while. I found that I could check the
status of the timer while it’s running from the locked screen easily, and was
able to find the button to stop the timer also on the locked screen quite
easily. Will use it more now.

God bless!

sleep timer in the BARD app

2013-09-30 Thread Elizabeth Campbell
Hello all,

When the BARD app first came out, I thought I read something on this list
about a sleep timer. I can't find one anywhere in the app.

If someone can let me know if indeed there is a sleep timer, that would be
great.

That is one of the features I liked about the library of congress player.

I guess the government has no confidence in web sites staying up by

why the site needs to go away. Probably because it costs money to keep

Re: Installation of High Quality Voices

2013-09-30 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Two thoughts. first, you may have been using the HQ voice all along, so
you won't notice a difference.

Second, I don't find the HQ voices in IOS 7 to be as good as those in

sounded.

To find a list of all your backups, open iTunes, and press Command-Comma on a

Re: no sound

2013-09-30 Thread Regina Alvarado
A question about sounds, iPhone and iPad. I have phone vibration set to off. I
have vibration set to on when silent. I have sounds for everything to 100
percent. I just put some notifications on iPad last night. As of this morning
all I can get on my phone souns set to 100 percent is vibrations. No mail sound
or notification sounds. Have not received a call so do not know what it is
doing. I will check with someone and post if nobody can help. I have turned the
phone off with the sleep/wake, taken everything out of the app switcher and
even rebooted with the home and sleep/wake. I am receiving notifications from
Breaking on iPad. As both devices are on same wifi, could there be a problem? I
just received only a vibration on the phone for news and iPad had a sound. I
don't care so much about this, but the mail sounds and other sounds I
definitely want on my phone. I don't want to jump to conclusions that it is
because I have 2 devices, but it seems so. Thanks to anyone who can illuminate
my problem, and if you can come up with a solution, I really appreciate it.

Re: MotionX gps, never worked

2013-09-30 Thread Mike Arrigo
There are a few unlabeled buttons, but it's much better than it was
previously. Motionx and google maps are my 2 favorite main stream GPS apps.

Original message:

Hi all.
I bought MotionX gps, a long time ago. This app never was accessible
for me. I mean, buttons, and anything is accessible. Even though, I
paid for this app, because people said that this app was accessible.
Now, what I am doing wrong, why this app never worked for me?

What can I do to make it works?
In the worse case, what gps navigator is accessible and useable for us,
for blind people?

Thanks

Speaker issue

2013-09-30 Thread Shane Clark
Hello
I was on the phone earlier talking with An Apple representative, And all of a
sudden, the speaker phone when out. It kind of came back on back off
periodically through the convosation. Finally, I'm left with no sound
whatsoever on the speakerphone. Music Won't play, VO won't work, or anything. I
even tried calling myself from a land line, and the phone vibrates, but there
is no sound and no ring tone, or email tone either. My ringer is on, and the
volume is it 73%. I'm using an iPhone forS, and 6.13.
Any ideas on what I can try? I think it may be a hardware issue.
Thanks.

Re: sound problem

2013-09-30 Thread David Chittenden
Hello Bryan,

the process of determining what may be wrong starts with checking all of the
obvious possibilities. For me, just about every possibility is obvious. I am a
trainer, and have been a beta tester and AT setup and trainer in the past. I
have no idea what you consider obvious unless you state specifically what you
have already tried.

That said, now that I know you will react negatively if I suggest something you
consider obvious, I will reframe from taking any chances of giving you a wrong
suggestion.

 YHi,

I use Downcast. If you are already using it for your podcasts, why not kill
 two birds with one stone.

It will remember your place in the book, can continuously play all files in
a folder, you can have it delete read files to save space on your phone if
you wish. You can also speed up playback.

I use CloudBeats which is great too. If links with cloud services such as

those apps. Also, if you are listening to a book with multiple MP3 files
then, unlike those other apps, it moves seamlessly from one file to the
next to give unbroken playback without you having to navigate to the next
file and double tap to get it to start playing.
Also when you come back into CloudBeats it remembers where you were – but
 this is probably standard behaviour.
 Thanks, Robin.

This is a major reason why a single app on an iPhone (like BARD) is such a
not so nice idea. In order to read any books from the NLS, the app
authenticates with the NLS servers. If they are shut down, so is your
ability to read. THis is why I prefer the use of both my Braille Sense and
my Victor Reader Stream. With these and a few ram sticks full of books, I
can be set for just about any contingency.
