Questions concerning contacts, and photos

2016-10-09 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everybody,

I have a couple of questions. I decided it would be easier just to combine the
questions, instead of writing two different emails. First of all, a while back,
I wrote you all and told you that I had a weird thing happened with my
contacts. This was before I did the update to 10. A bunch of my contacts
disappeared, well several of them. Also, I had a bunch of unnamed contacts, and
when I looked inside, there was no content.
It was very strange! I have no idea as to why this happened. I was going to
look at my iPad, and see if the contacts were listed in there. I have not done
that yet.
However, a couple of days ago, I was using the Outlook app on my phone. I was
trying to see if there was a contact in there. So I went to the contacts tab.
It was interesting, all those unnamed contacts were in there, as well as the
contacts that I had lost. But none of my actual email address is, from what I
could tell

What would cause all this to happen?
How do I get my lost contacts back onto my iPhone?
Also, how do I get my Outlook app to recognize some of the email addresses I
start to type in?
When I use the mail app on the iPhone, I don't have any problems with this. It
remembers the email addresses, like this one, just fine. Now the outlook app
did remember this email address. But in the past I have had problems with that.
But the mail app is only my back up app for now, with another address attached
to it.

So any help with this would be very much appreciated. I don't know what to do,
or even think anymore. It's a weird situation to me. No I will ask my couple of
questions, regarding photos. OK, first of all, how do I get certain photos that
I delete, just stay off of my iPhone?
I asked this before a while back. I know I have the answer somewhere in my
emails. But I can't find it. I know it has something to do with iCloud. So if
someone could help me out with this, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't
want to keep having a friend help me delete photos, just for them to return
again. Especially when I can't tell what they are in the first place. Now that
leads to my second question.
Is there a simple app I can use, to organize my photos into albums, or give
them names?
If so, could someone give me a brief description as to how this app works?
You could write me privately if you feel that is best. I won't mind at all.

Any help would be wonderful! I tried to keep emails that help me, now that I
realize I can archive them. This way I am not asking the same question over and
over. I don't like to do that, if I don't have to.

Thank you, and have an awesome night!

Terri

Bummer. Thanks but I want this particular version and the app store will
download the latest version instead of this slightly older version. :)

Re: Off-topic, please, I need your urgent help

2016-10-09 Thread Kelly Pierce
The best option is to go to MVNO News and view the best plans for AT
and T-Mobile. The two have the same coverage if he has a phone that
supports band 12. If not, AT has more coverage, but T-Mobile is
available in most metro areas. Check coverage maps for both. some
MVNO plans offer international calls as part of the base price. I use
an MVNO offering and pay $16 a month including the extreme Chicago
taxes. The cheapest T-Mobile offering from the company directly is
only available on the company's website.

iMazing and IPA files

2016-10-09 Thread Christina C.
Hello,

Will iMazing allow you to take an IPA file from an iDevice and put it on a Mac?
I’d love to get a particular version of an app from my iDevice backed up to my
Mac. I don’t necessarily need the document files for that app but I need the
actual app.

Thanks,
Christina

Re: iPhone questin and how to take that folder or some photos off of your iPhone

2016-10-09 Thread Eric Oyen
hmmm. I am running into a problem with this. there are some photos on my phone
(which are also synced to my iCloud drive) and I am not being allowed to delete
them. I have tried from the phone to select them in the photos app, only to be
presented with a greyed out delete button. I have also tried via the web to get
to my iCloud photos library directly, but there doesn't appear to be anything
on there. Lastly, I can't seem to get the iCloud drive app in windows 7 to
display anything either (presents me with empty folders, even though I know
different). and iTunes isn't being very helpful on windows.

btw, I can't do a lot of this on my current mac as the OS is too old (plug in
the phone and iTunes says that it gets an invalid response from the phone) and
iCloud isn't available (because its the upgraded version not compatible with OS
X Lion).

any help or suggestions I can use?

RE: Moving apps around and placing them into respective folders?

2016-10-09 Thread Richard Turner
Yes, when you did the first part and got to the place of moving an app, when
you find an app you wish to create a folder with, flick up or down until you
hear the option to create a folder with that app.
Pretty slick.
BTW, deleting apps is the same as always, once it says edit, double tap with
one finger and you will get the option to delete it.

Here is my summary of how it works.

Touch the app you want to move.

Flick up once and you should hear, Arrange apps.

double tap.

Then, do a two finger double tap and it should say something like choose a

destination for the app.

Now, use your normal method to get to where you want the app.

If a different page, just do the three finger swipe to get there.

Touch where you want the app. Even if you want it in a folder, just touch the

folder, don't open it.

Flick up with 1 finger and you will hear options like, place after x app, or

before x app, or put in x folder, whatever you want to do, just double tap with

one finger and wala, it is done.

You can't use your iPhone like a hard drive. You can go into settings then

Re: Quick poll about how VoiceOver speaks when playing media - answer with a single letter

Do you have the volume limit on his That is set in music settings. I don't have
the phone tell me that it is approaching maximum volume. I don't have any of
these for lens, so my answer would be d. I don't know about the breath though.
That was cute. Try making sure your volume limit is off. Let me know if you
can't find that setting in music settings on your phone. Go into settings then

Quick poll about how VoiceOver speaks when playing media - answer with a single letter

2016-10-09 Thread Robin Christopherson
Dear listers

I want to find out if everyone has the same experience as me when playing
something on their phone using earbuds or if it’s just something weird about my
phone. If you have one minute please do the following and reply either to the
list or direct to me with your response.

Please first put earbuds in and start listening to something. Now press the
volume up button to the point where it is nearing maximum volume. You should
hear VoiceOver announce 'Approaching maximum volume' (unless this is peculiar
to my phone). Now please pause the audio with your earbuds remote.

Now, each time you play/pause after that point does VoiceOver:
A) Say a whole bunch of stuff about track position and progress over and over
again (well at least three times) to the point where you are forced to mute
speech with a three finger double tap when listening to audio on your earbuds
B) Does all of the above but even carries on waffling even after you’ve pressed
the power button to try to lock the screen
C) Just politely says the time when you play/pause or unlock the screen and
doesn’t give you any grief of this sort at all
D) Doesn’t even say ‘Approaching high volume’ and I don’t have any of the above
waffle so my phone is superior to yours and my breath smells fresher too
E) None of the above. I’ll tell you what my phone does...

Thanks, Robin

I love this new way of moving apps but I did discover one little thing. I
wanted to move an app from inside a folder to another folder. I chose the app
and then when I tried to close that folder to go to the second one the press of
the home button ended the edit procedure. So I just moved the app out of the
first folder the same way as before and then chose it to move the new way.
I had apps stuck all over the place before because it was just too frustrating
to try and try to get them moved with IOS 9 so I think 10 is worth it just for
this feature!

Richard

A Question Regarding Displaying iPhone screen on a Windows 10, Anniversary Edition, Notebook Computer

2016-10-09 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I would like to use the Airplay feature of iOS 10 to mirror my iPhone's
display on a Windows 10, Anniversary Edition, PC.

I have done several Google searches and know that there is a lot of free
software that claims to be able to accomplish this, however, I have also
learned that many of the claims are exaggerated.

Somewhere along the way, I learned that the new Microsoft Connect App,
introduced in the Windows 10, Anniversary Edition, is supposed to be
compatible with the Airplay protocol. According to the various comments,
this is supposed to allow your Windows 10 PC to act as an Airplay receiver
which is, of course, exactly what I wish to accomplish.

Has anyone been successful in mirroring an iOS display on a Windows 10 PC?
If so, please describe how it was done.

All replies welcomed,

Mark

iPhone questin and how to take that folder or some photos off of your iPhone

2016-10-09 Thread Casey
Hi I have My iPhone connected to my computer and I would like to take my
photos and copy that folder to my computer so I can take them off of my
phone and make more room on my phone.
But I would still like to have the pictures folder with all of the
pictures that I have taken up to the most latest one.

So how do I go about doing this?
I have connected the phone to my computer but I don't see it listed
under my hard drives on my computer.

So what am I doing wrong or do I have to go threw iTunes to do this.
So any and all help is welcome.

Surry and turning off alarms

Hi everyone okay here is a simple one. I have the latest updates and I can
ask surry to turn on a alarm but when it goes off in the morning Surry won't
turn it off when I ask her from the lock screen. Is there a setting I need
to have to ask her to turn off the alarm or is this not something surry can
do Louise and princess Kiara

Re: Moving apps around and placing them into respective folders?

2016-10-09 Thread Sherrie
I love this new way of moving apps but I did discover one little thing. I
wanted to move an app from inside a folder to another folder. I chose the app
and then when I tried to close that folder to go to the second one the press of
the home button ended the edit procedure. So I just moved the app out of the
first folder the same way as before and then chose it to move the new way.
I had apps stuck all over the place before because it was just too frustrating
to try and try to get them moved with IOS 9 so I think 10 is worth it just for
this feature!

Re: Question on Comcast app

2016-10-09 Thread David Goldfield
Mary,

As far as I know, the ability to store individual favorites does not exist in
the TV apps. For Live TV, you can choose specific filters by double tapping the
Refine Filters button, including a filter for programs with audio description.
Yes, the For You screen shows items such as recently recorded content, recently
watched channels, recently watched shows, popular movies and popular TV shows.

Hi Rick,
I know when the iPhone's first came out, there were issues with T-Mobile. I
thought, however, that the updates that T-Mobile came out with for their
carrier settings had solved the problem. I am on T-Mobile as well, and as far
as I know, don't have a problem. I know that's not helpful for you. Good luck.

Hi,
I believe you can turn off the amber alerts at the bottom of the
notifications settings area under settings but you can't disable
government

or presidential alerts if you're in the US which I'm assuming you are.
So for instance if there was a major weather warning or some other
governmental issued safety alert you'd get it regardless.

I hope this helps.

I was working on my computer when all of a sudden my SE started sounding
a loud beep-beep-beep. I think it was an Amber alert. How can that
function be shut off? I just about jumped right out of my chair.

Please help.

Many thanks,

RE: An iOS iBook VoiceOver Continuous Reading Bug, Detected, Please Confirm

Hello Jenny and thank you.

Sounds like the issue has been resolved in the upcoming 10.1 release. That’s
great news.

Hi Mark,

I have an iPhone 7 running iOS 10.1 beta, and I cannot reproduce this bug. I
changed by auto lock to 30 seconds, then wt into the basics part of the iPhone
user's guide. There I went and did the continuous reading and didn't notice
this bug. I was using VO the whole time. I didn't try it with VO off. I hope
that kind of helps you. If you need any more help, don't hesitate to ask.

Hello Everyone,

My preferred method for reading iOS iBook titles is to use the two-finger,
swipe-down VoiceOver gesture, in order to initiate continuous reading of the
text. Please note that I am not referring to the Speak Screen accessibility
feature.

For whatever reason, using the method described above, continuous reading is
cancelled if VoiceOver encounters either a hyperlink or headings marker, in
the text.

I first discovered this, last night, while reading the Apple TV User Guide.
The same phenomenon occurred when I tested my hypothesis with the iPhone
User Guide for iOS 10 and iPhone User Guide for iOS 9.3.

At first, I thought it was some kind of issue with titles produced by Apple
but I tested a recently published (non Apple) title, that has a web link
imbedded in the text, and, just as with the Apple manuals, after less than 1
minute, the screen locked and reading ceased.

It should be noted, that the hyperlinks that exist in the Table of Contents,
used to jump to a specific area, does not cause interruption to the
continuous reading feature. I say this because titles in my Library,
containing only such links, read as expected.

Steps to Reproduce:

1.
>From Settings/General/Display and Brightness, set Auto Lock to 30 seconds.

2.
In iBook, open the Apple TV User Guide and, from the table of contents,
select Home Sharing; or, open the iPhone User Guide for iOS 10 and, from the
table of contents, select Basics.

3.
Once the desired page is displayed, perform the two-finger swipe-down
VoiceOver gesture to initiate continuous reading.

As I said, in my testing, each time either an imbedded hyperlink or heading
is encountered, a short time later, the screen will lock and reading will
stop.

Please confirm if this occurs during your testing.

I would like to note that, this problem does not occur when using the Speak
Screen accessibility feature. While certainly useful in some instances, the
Speak Screen feature is not my preferred method for reading iBook titles.

Mark
