Re: Does any one stil use iTunes to listen to internashional radio stations

2018-11-25 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
I’m using the latest Mojave and latest Itunes on a 2013 MacBook Pro. When I
open iTunes and click on Radio and then go to All Genres, the genres are in
alphabetical orders do the list goes from Rock, Singer/Songwriter then straight
to Workout there is no Taalk genre and the News genre only has three stations
in. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Thanks
Harry

Re: Does any one stil use iTunes to listen to internashional radio stations

2018-11-25 Thread Anne Robertson
I use iTunes on my Mac. I go to the Internet radio category in the sidebar,
jump to the list of radio stations, expand the category that seems appropriate
and type part of the station’s name. That usually finds what I’m looking for.
Cheers,

Anne

Mine has continued to work just fine through all the updates. If you set up an
account, and you do have to delete the app and reinstall it, your favorites
will be there when you log in to the app.
But, make sure you have cleared the app switcher and rebooted your device
before you go to the point of deleting the app and reinstalling it.

RE: Wireless Charging

If you don't mind spending a bit more the Mophie or Belkin are good, Anker in
this area gets good reviews, but maybe not quite as good as the other brand
names. It will be cheaper of course, RavPower also gets very good reviews.
You want to make sure that whatever you buy supports Apple's 7.5 Watt fast

try. Since I set up the phone last week as a new phone, I haven’t downloaded

I think it is asking me for my old Apple id in which I don’t remember. Now, I
have no problem signing in on my phone using my current Apple id, or my current
password, but I’m sure the phone is asking me for my old password which is
assigned to my old Apple id. So if I reset my current password,, I will still
get the message to enter my password, but again that is to my old Apple id.
I’m having the same problem with iTunes on my PC regarding the password issue.
I don’t even know why would my old Apple id even be on my phone any more
though. I’m going to try and call Apple, and if they can’t fix this over the
phone, I will have to go to the Apple store.

Hi Janet,

OK, I'm pretty confused now, you say you can sign in with the link I provided
but you say it won't accept your password.
If it doesn't accept your password then you can't sign in.
You need to start the process to reset your password by going to the following
website:

Recover your Apple Id

This is a site off the main AppleID.Apple.com, there is a link you click called
"Recover my Apple Id or Password", but in order to make it easier you can just
click on the above link and it goes straight there.
Start by entering your Outlook.com email which you say is your current Apple
Id, then click continue and follow the instructions.
If you can't successfully reset your password I strongly recommend you go to an
Apple Store and ask if they can help because if you do this often enough it may
lock your Apple Id down so much that it could take an even greater effort to
get it going again.

Regards,
Sieghard

See if you can login with your new Apple Id and password.
As for the old one, what email did you use and to you still have access to that

Hi,
Yes that’s correct and the tba often indicate that they’re using Amazon
Logistics which uses I don’t know who as third party couriers locally but yes
they are as of yet not supported. Though there is a way with the Parcel app not
parcel track but parcel to forward amazon to them from platforms such as gmail
and it can recognize them but that’s the only way they can’t be entered
manually and work anywhere.
Take good care.

Robin,

Thanks for the reply. I was able to successfully add a UPS package to ShipRack
that was originally rejected by selecting the shipper manually and then adding
the tracking number. I still am unable to track packages that Amazon ships
using what I believe is a special arrangement with the US Postal Service. These
tracking numbers begin with a TBA followed by several numerical digits and I've
never successfully tracked these with any tracking app.

Hi Sir,

I have noticed Shiprack running a bit slower but no can’t reproduce the unknown
number here. Sometimes I do notice that Parceltrack doesn’t AutoDetect the
carrier so if I tap on courier and then just select it and then save it seems
happier.

I totally understand wanting to track especially this time of the year. Have
you tried manually selecting the courier in Parceltrack? I also after pasting
the number in review by character to make sure there’s nothing extraneous at
the end like any tabs or spaces. That seems to make it happier as well.

Hi List,

I'm wondering if anyone else using package tracking apps is having the same
issue I'm experiencing. I use both ParcelTrack and ShipRack but the past few
shipments I've tried tracking with either app return an unknown carrier after I
paste in the tracking number. When this happens, I'm unable to track the
package with the app. I've gotten this on shipments handled by FedEx, UPS, and
the US Postal Service. I really like tracking my packages especially during
this time of year when packages have a better chance of being misappropriated
from one's porch.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue or does anyone know what's causing
it? I'm very careful inputting the tracking info into the apps and always copy
and paste the tracking numbers.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sieghard,

Janet .

Regards,

Sieghard

Good Evening Everyone,

As I mentioned yesterday I picked up a new iPhone XR on Black Friday. Having
said that I have yet to purchase a case for it. My previous 3 iPhones had
Otterbox defender cases. My question is with wireless charging do I need to
be concerned with which case to purchase? If so can I get some
recommendations for cases? Also recommendations for a wireless charging
solution that people are happy with? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and
help.

Janet,

Try entering the password that you use to unlock your iPhone. When installing
IOS updates the iPhone will restart once the update is complete. If you have a
passcode set for restrictions it may be requesting that passcode be entered. My
guess is it wants your unlock password though. If you have forgotten the
password to your first iTunes username; when logged out of all iTunes accounts,
enter the old iTunes user email & swipe to I Forgot. You should have had to
setup secret questions when originally setting up the old iTunes account. You
will be given 2 of the questions, just type in their answer. If the questions
are answered correctly, you will be prompted to enter a new password &
confirm the new password.

Signed out of both iTunes and iCloud on your iPhone. Then try to sign back in

to call Apple accessibility. Unfortunately, there is no way to merge you’re old

See if you can login with your new Apple Id and password.
As for the old one, what email did you use and to you still have access to that

If so you should be able to go to Forgot Password and get a password reset link

Hi Sieghard,
This current issue I’m having has nothing to do with just downloading a
particular app. This update I am referring to is my Apple update settings, in
which when I try to login, the phone is not accepting my current password. If
I can’t sign in to update my Apple settings, I will not be able to use some
account services on my phone. I firmly believe all these issues I’m having is
because my new xr phone has the old phone 6 settings. I will have to set up my
xr phone once again as a new phone. Even though, an Apple rep and I set the xr
phone up as a new phone last week, unknown to myself, the phone 6 was connected
to my xr phone, and the reason I say this is because my new xr phone is working
exactly like my phone 6, in which is very poorly.

If you are talking about an app update I assume the problem is that you may

Hi All,

Ok, I followed the instructions by signing out, and signing back in, and that
was successful. I am still getting the same message though. On the home
screen, it says there is one update available. So I go in to the setting's app,
and tap on the update Apple id settings. It says I have to sign in to update
my Apple id settings, or some services will not be available until I sign in
again. When I tap on the update Apple id, I'm asked to sign in using my
password, so I enter my password, I then get a message saying wrong password,
and then I get a message saying I need to enter my Apple id and password, but I
don't get an edit field to enter my Apple id just a field to enter my password.
Although, I did enter my Apple id in the only edit field, as well as my
password, but I still get the same message saying wrong password. This is
crazy. Any other suggestions?

Thank you all so much.

I'm really lost on this one.

Hi Robert,

I experience similar results.

Try tapping the "messages" button after you open the app.

I could not find the messages button by exploring the phone screen. To find it,
first locate the settings button on the top left, then flick left once, and
you'll see it.

Alternatively, go to top of screen by touching with four fingers towards the
top half of the screen. That should land you on the messages button.

RE: sim card constantly losing connection

2018-11-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It's easy to figure out if the protective case is to blame, just take it off
for a while and see if the SIM stays connected.
Another step to trouble shoot this is to open the SIM tray, pull it out a bit
and then push it back in, best turn the phone off, take the SIM out partially
and put it back, then turn the phone on again.
If all that doesn't help I would ask my provider for a new SIM first and only
as a last resort I would take the phone to an Apple Store to see if the phone
itself could be defective.

It is possible that the phone has a problem with the antenna inside of it. This
happened with a brand new iPad that had cellular as well as wifi. I took it to
apple and they replaced the defective device immediately.

RE: recovery mode

2018-11-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Here is what Apple says:
• On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold the Side and Volume Down
buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the connect to iTunes
screen.
As Malcolm pointed out, the side button is… well, the button on the side which
is the power/sleep button.
Of course not being able to see the Connect to iTunes screen means it's a bit
of guesswork, but I think 10 or 12 seconds should do it.
Of course you do have to make sure your phone is connected to the computer and
that iTunes is open.
Here is the first part of that Apple help article:
Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again
1. Make sure that you're using the latest version of iTunes .
2. If iTunes is already open, close it. Connect your device to your computer
and open iTunes.
If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend or go to an Apple Retail
Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
3. While your device is connected, force restart it with these steps, but don't
release the buttons when you see the Apple logo, wait until the connect to
iTunes screen appears:
This is where the steps were listed for how to do this on an iPhone 8 or later,
the iPhone 7 (volume down and side button) or the iPhone 6S or earlier.
Just out of curiocity, why do you need recovery mode, is your iPhone completely
stuck?

Sieghard

RE: So much for keeping my iPhone 6S Plus for another year or two

2018-11-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I suggest you check Amazon since they can be anywhere from $15 to $60 or $80
Canadian. It does depend to some degree whether you go with a brand name like
Belkin or Mophie and then there are differences like whether it has 1 or 2
charging coyles, some are stands where your iPhone can stand and charge
(Logitech makes one which is pretty pricy) and some even have USB hubs built in
and all that stuff. Also, some come with a larger capacity wall adapter and
those are of course more than those who only come with a cable and you have to
provide your own, some only provide 5 Watts at 1 Amp whereas others support the
Apple 7.5 Watt fast charge standard and 10 Watts output for fast charging many
of the Samsung phones.
You can of course also do what I did and Google "Best wireless charging pads of
2018" and read a few articles and reviews to get a picture as to how these
things work, what are the things to consider when making a decision and all
that.
I have purchased 1 Belkim Boost Up and 1 Mophie whatever it's called and both
of those have I think a 15 Watt wall adapter and support Apple fast charge, but
they are also $49.99 each and that is after $20 came off for Black FRiday.
I still have a couple more in my cart on Amazon Canada, I think RavPower, they
get good reviews and one is $19.99 and the other $29.99. I probably order them
as well, a bit of an initial investment in this technology but one would expect
that once you have a few of these in various places you won't buy these again
for many years to come. At the lower price point they aren't really more
expensive than a replacement Lightning cablwe and while I bought the two more
expensive ones from Best Buy with another gift card I still had, they do have a
good return policy as well. My thought is that I will test them first of all
the Mophie against the Belkin, see which design I like better but also then see
how the cheaper ones stack up against them. The main thing for me would be to
check how forgiving they are when you put your phone on them because on some
apparently even moving your phone an inch may interrupt the charging process
and of course I want to make sure the phone charges with my preferred case. I
also want to do some testing with respect to charging through a thin layer of
wood since I do woodworking and ultimately it would be my goal to use my router
and route out a recess underneath my desktop which will be the size of the
charging pad and I would only leave an eight or three sixteenth of material,
then use a few dots of hot glue or silicon to stick the charging pad in there
and this would allow me to put my phone on top of my desk to charge, but the
charging pad is not even visible because it's underneath a thin layer of the
solid oak desktop.
I figure I need at least 4 pads, one for my wife and myself on our side tables
in the bedroom, one in the living room we both would use and one in my office.
Maybe I would buy one more cheaper one to use at my desk on the sales floor
which then could also be used by my manager who also bought the iPhone 8 on
that deal from Koodo.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Well, my main employee/store manager who has the same plan from the same

I had a look and my wife and I decided this was too good of an opportunity to
pass up so we have also ordered our iPhone 8, Gold for y wife and Space Grey
as usual for me.

For others here in Canada, here is the deal, this is from our perspective as
already existing Koodo customers:
We pay $150 (Canadian of course) up front
Koodo then bills us an extra $15 per month on top of what we pay for our plan
for a period of 2 years, i.e. $15 for 24 months = $360.
After the 2 years our monthly charge goes back to what we pay now which is $49
for 6Gb of data and unlimited Canada wide calling and texting + regular voice
mail, visual voice mail would be $2/month extra.
Total cost for the iPhone 8 64Gb after 2 years is $510 Canadian.

I just looked in the Apple Store app and if I were to buy an iPhone 8 64Gb
directly from Apple it would cost $820 Canadian which means we get it for $310
less.
Of course we can sell my wife's 6S 64Gb and my 6S Plus 64Gb, both had new
batteries installed by Apple 6 months ago and are cosmetically virtually
pristine with glass screen protectors and always in a slim but good protective
case.
I had a look on eBay and I have seen mostly prices of around $300 Canadian for
the 6S and $400 for the 6S Plus, even if we sell for a total of $500

Re: Does any one stil use iTunes to listen to internashional radio stations

I tried to find BBC Radio 4 and Radio Valencia on iTunes Radio but no success.
Did I miss something? It seems ridiculous that a HomePod cannot be asked to
play such radio stations whether on playlist or directly.
Maybe one day TuneIn Radio will come to HomePod?

That does sound like a legit Telus email with the offer mentioned, since they
do provide a toll free number you could always call it or reply to the message
with the word "Unsubscribe" without the quotation marks of course and you won't
get these in the future. I am with Koodo and also get such messages from time
to time except that the Koodo offers are usually better and their plans are
cheaper. Koodo is owned by Telus and uses the Telus network.

recovery mode

2018-11-25 Thread Robert Wright
Has anyone successfully placed a iPhone 7 in recovery mode? I tried yesterday
using directions I found on line and it confused me more than helped. It said
to hold down the volume down button while holding down the side button. What is
the side button?

sim card constantly losing connection

2018-11-25 Thread Davy Cuppens
Hi folks

A friend of mine her iphone, brand new, an iphone8, has the problem that her
simcard is always losing connection.
The only thing I know is that her iphone is wearing a kind of life jacket or
protection so there is no damage if falling on the ground.
has anyone ever encountered this issue?
Regards
Davy

Re: So much for keeping my iPhone 6S Plus for another year or two

2018-11-25 Thread Jen .
How much are the wireless charging pads.

On Nov 25, 2018, at 1:00 AM, Sieghard Weitzel
mailto:siegh...@live.ca>> wrote:

Well, my main employee/store manager who has the same plan from the same
carrier, Koodo Mobil, here in Canada just told me he was about to upgrade his
iPhone 6 because they were offering a really good deal on the iPhone 8 64 Gb.

I just looked in the Apple Store app and if I were to buy an iPhone 8 64Gb
directly from Apple it would cost $820 Canadian which means we get it for $310
less.
Of course we can sell my wife's 6S 64Gb and my 6S Plus 64Gb, both had new
batteries installed by Apple 6 months ago and are cosmetically virtually
pristine with glass screen protectors and always in a slim but good protective
case.
I had a look on eBay and I have seen mostly prices of around $300 Canadian for
the 6S and $400 for the 6S Plus, even if we sell for a total of $500 for both
phones that means it covers the $300 initial up front payment for the new
phones and it leaves at least enough for 6 months of payments out of the 2
years for both of us.
This means ultimately the new iPhone 8 will have cost me maybe $250 give or
take $10 or $20. One factor why we decided to go for this deal is also that I
though while in a year there might be a similarly good deal the value of our 6S
and 6S Plus phones would be quite a bit less after another year.

I also scored some good deals on some wireless charging pads since apart from
the better water proofness of the iPhone 8 the wireless charging is probably
the feature I like the most.
I could have gotten an iPhone XR for $550 + the $15 a month, a total of $910
after two years, but that isn't as much less as if I had bought one outright
and we just didn't feel like spending that much. The iPhone 8 should do us for
at least 3 to 4 years now just as our 6S phones did and by then OLED screens,
Face Id will be old and established features and who knows, the phones in 3
years may even have Face Id in addition to Touch Id which works wherever you
touch the screen.

Regards,
Sieghard
