Re: Comcast app is still screwed up

2020-07-20 Thread Richard Turner
Mary, are you talking about high speed internet data at home, or the Mobile
phone plan data?
There is an xfinity Mobile app that gives you the data for the mobile phone.
The home internet app does seem to require you go to the internet to log in.
You may want to call Comcast Accessibility again.

So is anybody else still having to login every time they want to access how

RE: shopping for mobile plans

2020-07-20 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Jeff,

I went to the site and it says a new member would pay $25 for the first month
then $40 after that and your speeds maybe throttles down at times. Here below
is what it says on the sight.

+For a limited time only. $25 First Month Offer begins 10/22/19. For new
Visible members only. New members receive first month of phone service for $25;
thereafter $40/mo applies. Subject to Visible Customer Agmt.
*In times of traffic, your data may be temporarily slower than other traffic.

So unless I missed something it is going to be $40 a month after the first
month. On Consumer Cellular you can get unlimited talk and text with 3 gig of
data for $30 a month.

You can also get 250 talk minutes with unlimited text and 500 mb of data for
$20 a month. If you go over they move you up to the next level for no extra
charge. Then you can move it down again the next month. Their app is totally
accessible.

Give them a call as they have the number one best tech support and they can
tell you all about it.

I have been with them for years.

using the on-screen keyboard as opposed to a full
size keyboard when using my laptop.
You can download the Visible iOS app and try out
the chat feature before signing up.

Debby,

Thanks for your review of this one. I will give it a try.

The Bird Song ID app I have tried also lowers the volume as soon as you tap on
the tab for recording bird songs, so yes, it would seem it may have something
to do with the microphone. Headphones do work fine with this.

Hi,

In case anyone is interested, I did buy the ChirpOmAtic app. It is generally
accessible with a couple of caveats. I did not try recording any birds because
it is a hot muggy day around here.

Here are a couple of issues. Here is the biggest one. When you start the app
Voiceover does not come out of the speaker. It is as though you are on a phone
call. If you press the home button and come out of the app and go back in then
voiceover comes out of the speaker. (I did not try with headphones to see what
would happen.) I am thinking that this happens because the app wants to use the
microphone, and so it puts any sound on the phone to the ear piece. This is
fixable, but strange!

Most of the controls are fine, but some of them are labeled with words with no
spaces. For instance on the first page there is a control that is labeled
“taptorecord.”

The app does have a reference section where you can hear various birds. This
section has a letter index and a search that is accessible and works. On the
page where you hear the birds songs/calls there is a description of the sound
just as there is in the “Chirp! Bird Song & calls USA” app. However, if you
want to read the description of the song/call, you have to hunt a bit toward
the bottom right of the screen.

Take care!

2020-07-20 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Have you ever tried the chat on an ios device? Having to use this chat featchre
to communicate with them would be my only concern about using their service.
But then, if this $25 a month plan, discussed earlier on this list proves to be
true, I will go with it. I am going to call the Verizon Accessibility number
about it later today. I hope it is offered in my area.

Old mini bluetooth keyboard still works

2020-07-20 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello list,
The other day, my husband unearthed a mini bluetooth keyboard we bought at
least ten years ago to use with my first iPhone, a 3 GS. We charged it up and
paired it with my 2020 SE running the latest iOS and it still works. It’s
slightly smaller all round than the iPhone and has 49 keys. It has the VO keys
to the right of the space bar and all the usual additional symbols can be
achieved using either the FN keys or the Option keys.
It isn’t the easiest keyboard to use, being so tiny, but it looks very handy
for situations where the onscreen keyboard is hard to use such as in a car or a
train.
Cheers,

Anne

Then that’s your prerogative not to reply to third-party requests but you
wasted a message in responding. My husband doesn’t do email lists so I told him
I would ask. It’s information that I value as well since if I ever have this
problem happened to my phone I’ll know the answer.
