Re: The bluetooth issue people are experiencing, it's not just bose

2020-01-07 Thread Moop Curran

Hi,
The Bose SoundWear companion is $299.99 on amazon, although sometimes
I’ve seen it for $249.99. As much as I LOVE this neck speaker, I had
to get one to replace it (not replace it so much as be singled out as
use on iOS) do to the ongoing bluetooth issue with higher end devices on
iOS 13.
This is the one I got. It’s quite good, not as much bass as the bose
(waah), but it’s adequate, and at least VO and sounds come out of it
like they’re supposed to!!!

Anyway, rant over, here’s the link. :)
https://www.amazon.com/Neckband-Bluetooth-Speakers-Waterproof-Comfortable/dp/B07WGGBPGG/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?keywords=oraolo+go=1578423644=8-1-fkmr1

I still use my SoundWear companion, but I use it on my mac and android
tablet now. I sure miss it on my primary device, but oh well.

I know people like VO and system sounds coming through the phone’s
speaker, but I don’t, because I can’t adjust the volume of VO while
the speaker is connected, even if nothing is playing.

Hi,
Yes, but I enjoy the speaker more, because I can still have the
somewhat private setting of a speaker without the bulkiness of a
headset.
That’s why I like the wearable neck speaker, you can get the big
loud sound of a speaker without cancelling out what’s around you,
and it’s still somewhat private because it’s around your neck.
I’m sorry, it’s kind of hard to explain, lol. The neck speaker I
use (or used to use before iOS 13 messed it up) it’s kind of a cross
between a headset and a speaker system. Applevis has a review of it,
it’s the Bose SoundWear companion.

Hi,
I know I’ve argued this point on this and other lists many times.
But what I’m about to tell you just feeds my argument.
Anyway, last month, I purchased a Tribit Storm Box BT speaker on
Amazon, which works perfectly, how it should, speech and sounds and
music coming out of it instead of the phone’s speaker.
For Christmas, I received the Tribit X-Sound Go (which I asked for as
a smaller option to the storm box, thinking oh, it will work, having
speech, audio, and sound coming out of it instead of the phone’s
speaker.) Darn if I didn’t pair it today, and it acts JUST like the
bose soundlink micro and the Bose soundwear, with speech coming out
of

the phone (blah) and music (if I happen to be using the speaker for
music and not just games like I often do) coming through the speaker.
So I don’t think the problem is bose or even high end speakers,
because this xSound Go cost $29, and the storm box (the one that
works

right) cost $45. So I’m curious what the bose speakers, the
SoundBlaster Roar, The Pocket Kick, and now the Tribit XSound Go all
have in common that the other Tribit Storm Box, the UE Boom, the
Oraolo go, and the Zulu audio don’t have. I’m very confused,
because
there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason why some speakers
behave
properly (storm box, etc.) and some don’t (bose, SB Roar, X Sound
Go,

etc). under iOS 13. Curiouser and curiouser.
I will let apple know, and I will also contact Tribit to see if
there’s a firmware update.
I know some of you guys like VO and system sounds coming through the
phone’s speaker, but quite frankly, I can’t stand it. I have a
really
hard time hearing VO, because when a BT speaker is connected, you
lose

the ability to adjust VO volume, my rotor’s already at 100 percent.
And I don’t know, I just don’t feel like restarting my device 5 6
and

7 times a day or more is very healthy, just to be able to play my
games or whatever through a BT speaker.
Anyway, those are my observations, take them as you will. :)

Hi Alan,

I have a few thoughts and ideas. I do have a question though. When
VO goes to your phone instead of through the speaker, is it only
going to the ear speaker where you can barely hear VO? Or is the
sound just fine? I actually heard about this some time ago and I was
under the impression that it was actually a new feature for a few
speakers. I personally prefer VO to stay with my phone and for only
the music to come out of the speakers, like when I use airPlay. That
is my personal preference. I don’t like VO interupting my music.
That is just a personal preference. I can understand that others
prefer VO to go through the connected speaker. ☺️ So here’s
an idea I heard about. I heard there is a setting under
accessibility, voice over, audio, send to HDMI. I heard if you want
VO to stay with the phone to make sure that is set to off. However
in your case, maybe try setting it to on. I don’t know. Also, you
should unpair the speaker, change the setting, then re-pair the
speaker to your phone. I don’t know if this will help at all , but
maybe it’s worth a try. Also, I have a friend who recently used a
Bose Revolve and she was quite pleased to have VO stay with her
phone because she didn’t have to interrupt the music to do things
on her phone. Everyone in the room could enjoy the music and she
retained the ability to do what she needed to on her iPhone.

HTH and best of luck,
Christina

Re: a fix for the hearing aid issue that works

2019-11-23 Thread Moop Curran

Hi,
I finally had a chance to try this just now, I tried both suggestions,
no luck.
I’d love to know why certain speakers behave like this and certain
ones don’t, my thought was it seemed to be happening with the higher
end ones, but not necessarily, I tried a $50-ish speaker that my friend
has, and VO and notifications stay with the phone, and anything you may
be listening to goes through the speaker, so that theory went up in
smoke. :) Anyway, sometimes, often times actually, I don’t just use my
bt speaker for music, I like to be able to hear my game sounds and
notifications through it, if my phone is in my pocket, or as it often
times is across the room or in another room, and I’m far away with my
SoundWear, I like to know what’s going on. Shame the fix isn’t so
easy like it was with the hearing aids, blah.

Hello all,

hearing

aid issue so all sounds go through your hearing aids.

Go to voiceover,

Select Audio,

Swipe down to “Speech Channels (your name)”,

Right below this you should find:

Terri1 of course it would be your name.

Terri2 just below that,

Below those next you will find:

Sound Channels Terri

Terri2

Unselect or Turn the “Terri1 off for both the “Speech” and the
“Sound”

Then while that screen is still ope, double tap to select both again.

Repeat this process with Terri2 for both Speech and Sound, turning
them first off and then back on..

Amazeingly the fix is this simple.

because I’m spoiled and I don’t like to wait for things, which got
me in trouble this time because of the Bose bluetooth issue), anyway,
this bug has been present since dev beta 1, and I’ve reported it
through the feedback app and also to apple accessibility. Apple
accessibility keeps giving me the spiel “apple is aware of this
problem but cannot comment on a timeline”, blah blah blah. All I want
for Christmas this year is to be able to turn on my Bose SoundWear and
have it connect to my iPhone 8 and have all VO, sounds, system sounds,
and media come through it like it used to pre iOS 13. I’ll come down
from my soap box now, lol, it’s just so frustrating. I’m hoping the
more people that report this, the faster Apple will fix it. Apparently,
it’s not only impacting speakers, but also hearing aids.

Hi Caroline,

What exactly do you mean by " My Bluetooth does not do the haptics
through the phone speaker with my cheapy Bluetooth"?
Haptics are vibrations and really have nothing to do with speakers.
Do you maybe mean system sounds?

My Bluetooth does not do the haptics through the phone speaker with
my cheapy Bluetooth, but I have navigation problems with it,
especially in Contacts and when using Section Index.

With my hearing aids, everything works perfect, but, the haptics go
through the speaker. My husband asked the other day, "what's all that
clicking noise?"

So, that is why I want to go to Wal-Mart and try a Logitech. It will
be worth ten or so dollars more to walk out knowing that at least as
far as this update, the thing works.

I have often heard people are having problems with Bose Bluetooth
speakers/headsets which would indicate this is a problem with how
Bose implements Bluetooth.
I have a Logitech H800 headset, my Aftershoks, a Logitech Wonderboom
2 speaker and an Outdoor Tech Turtle speaker and all work fine.

Hey Greg,

I am having the same issue with my Bose Soundware speaker. I have
sent emails from the support section within the Bose Connect
application and have not heard back from Bose. I am starting to think
that they don t care about the accessibility issue in the newer
phones/operating systems.

Re: VoiceOver not Playing with iPhone 7 and Bose Soundlink 2 Speaker

2019-11-21 Thread Moop Curran

Hi,
I sent an email to Bose, and they said it’s apple’s issue, which I
really believe it is. I’ve left MULTIPLE MULTIPLE MULTIPLE feedback
emails to apple and Apple Accessibility, they said they’re aware of
the problem and cannot comment on when it will be fixed!! Give me a
break! Anyway, I’ve had quite enough of my iPhone 8 with iOS 13 not
playing nice with my Bose products and REALLY want to downgrade to iOS
12.4.1. Is that even possible?

Help!

downgrading from the latest iOS 13 to iOS 12.4.1, am I out of luck?

2019-11-21 Thread Moop Curran

Hi,
I’m extremely tired of having sounds and voiceover routed through my
iPhone 8’s internal speaker, despite a Bose SoundWear neck speaker
being connected. I’ve just about had it, the only way I know to fix it
is to go back to iOS 12.4.1. Can I still restore to 12.4.1 if I have the
.ipsw, or am I out of luck having to suffer with these iOS 13 bluetooth
issues?

that I can't have a playlist randomly wake me up, I have to know which song I
want to wake me up. I miss the yoctoclock app, where I could choose a playlist
to wake up to and have it shuffle the playlist. Is there an app out there with
this capability?
Thanks,

Moop

Re: voice dream reader, books deleted out of the blue

2016-07-01 Thread Moop Curran

Hi,
I had the same thing happen to me, on the same day in fact. Unfortunately for
me, I had about 100 audiobooks organized into folders. I have the original
files, but it's a pain because now I'l; have to zip them back up and reupload
them. If there's a solution to salvage them, please let me know. I use and love
voice dream reader for audiobooks so I for one won't have to use itunes, to
sytc books or take my stream with me everywhere.
Thankst in advance for any help.

Re: Discrete, long-lasting, bluetooth headset recommendation

2016-04-08 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
Thanks for the recommendation. I went ahead and ordered a pair of these, and
thanks to amazon prime, I got them today. They're super small, however, I
can't figure out how to get them to stay in my ears. Does the rubber loop on
the earbud go behind my ear or somewhere else? I know the earbud part sits in
my ear canal, but without knowing how that loop thing should be placed, I'm
having difficulty. Anyone who owns a pair of these earbuds, any insight would
be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Moop

Discrete, long-lasting, bluetooth headset recommendation

2016-04-07 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I'm seeking recommendations for a bluetooth headset that is rather discrete and
has super long battery life. I want a bluetooth headset that I can listen to
music and books all day at work while I work, so the battery life would have to
be decent. Also, even though I'd be listening to music through it, I'd be okay
with it only going in one ear, although it would be nice to have the play/pause
and music controls and volume controls on it. I'd like something kind of small
or at least rather discrete. I'm using an iPhone 6, although I don't think
that matters, because most if not all modern bluetooth headsets should work
with iOS devices. Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

it seems the bard app is working

2013-10-21 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
The bard app works on my ipod touch, I downloaded books today and they play. I
also transferred several books through itunes and dropbox, and they also play.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app last night, but that didn't help at the
time, I'm thinking the people at NLS must have fixed something today.

best earpiece for iPhone 4s

2013-10-05 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I'm looking for a good, rechargeable bluetooth earpiece that will work with the
iPhone 4s. I'd like it to just be a mono type of thing, and I also have to have
the around the ear type as opposed to the in ear type, as the in ear ones
aren't comfortable for me. Also, do any earpieces like this have the music
controls? This is super important to me, because I listen to music constantly
when I'm out.
Thanks,
Courtney

a super cool app: live tunes

2013-09-15 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I saw this app on applevis, which is totally accessible. It's called live
tunes. It turns your songs in your music library into simulated live songs, and
I tell you what, it's pretty darn accurate. It even has the sound of an
audience. The app costs $0.99, which is well worth it.

a cool external battery

2013-09-13 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I came across this external battery while browsing on amazon. I wanted an
external battery that wasn't a case because I have a good case anyway, and I
wanted to be able to charge different kinds of ios devices, including my iPad.
The good thing about this battery is that it won't only charge apple devices,
it will charge any device as long as it has a standard usb connector. I'll
provide the link to the product below, it costs about $40, which is reasonable
for this kind of product. It's 1 M.A., so it can fully charge the iphone 2
and a half times. I hope this information is helpful to someone.

specificly. I'm sorry to say, I won't be able to make it tomorrow at 3 in the
onstage room, because I'll be at my internship until at least 4:30.

We can't help you with your employer's policy with regard to personal

whether
OneNote for iOS will connect to an Exchange Server, if that's what you
are
asking.

I am afraid this is a perfect example of how accessibility has been
turned
inside out. I can buy an entire Microsoft Office suite for less than I
would have to pay for scripts to make a small part of that suite
accessible.
I have long been hoping Evernote would become more accessible for the
PC or
that Freedom Scientific would see fit to support a major part of
Microsoft
Office in OneNote. Neither have happened.

It is rather disconcerting to think that two of the major notes
applications
are not accessible on all platforms when one of the most important
functions
for blind people is to have the ability to use electronic note taking
methods.

At the time John sought input for what scripts to consider for his next
project from an e-mail list, I doubt if anyone envisioned that he would
create $50 scripts for OneNote with the flimsy excuse that his offering
was
geared toward universities or whatever the justification was that he
used.
I can afford $50, but I'm certainly not going to waste it on scripts
for
OneNote. I can also afford $10, and probably would do so, if that were
the
price. I don't think these scripts will sell very well.

I wish I had the time to just create JAWS scripts for OneNote myself.

Since I am committed to Microsoft Office, I'm sort of wishing OneNote
could
be my answer for notes. It's certainly nice to know that the iOS
version of
OneNote is somewhat accessible. I haven't tried it because the PC
version
is useless with JAWS. Has anyone tried the PC version with NVDA?

Hopefully things will improve.

I'm sorry I had to include a discussion of an off-topic screen reader
here
but I believe it is relevant. There are many of us who use iPhones and
PCs.
It is exceedingly frustrating that the mainstream notes apps are not
accessible on all platforms.

I have conducted a considerable amount of research into note taking
applications. There are a lot of them out there. Some of them are
loaded
with functions that really make the process of taking notes much more
efficient than using a standard text editor or word processing app.
But
many are inaccessible, platform dependent, or not viable for screen
reader
users for some other reason.

If anyone knows of an accessible full featured note taking app that is
equivalent to OneNote or Evernote, and accessible on both the PC and
iOS
platforms, please let me know.

Thanks much, Sieghard. I downloaded those scripts, and they are,
indeed,
excellent!

Now here is the issue with which I am dealing. OneNote on my computer
stores
things on our exchange server at the university where I work. OneNote
on the
iPhone stores things in my sky drive account or the cloud.

Does anyone know how I might be able to get OneNote on the iPhone to
store
things on my exchange server? I do like a lot of the features this
application offers, and would like to be able to interface home and
work a
little more easily.

Also, I noticed that while the notes app on the phone will store things
in
the cloud, my notes app on the computer serves things on the exchange
server. I really would like to know the various options available so
that I
can store things I do on my phone on our exchange server. Perhaps I
don't
have many options, but I would like to know what the options I do have
might
be.

good earbud headphones recommendation

I'm looking for a recommendation of a decent pair of earbud style headphones

I'd prefer wired earbuds, so I won't run my iPod's battery down with the

However, keep in mind that Fleksy being free may appeal to a lot of people
and the way I read the blog post is that the idea behind this is to put
pressure on Apple to allow developers of such apps to make them available
system wide or, if Apple chooses to do so, for Apple to either buy them or
come up with their own more intuitive keyboard. If that happens and I
somehow have little doubt that the combination of an app like Fleksy
becoming very popular and the fact that on phones like Android or the new
Blackberry typing on a virtual keyboard is a much more effortless and faster
process, we may indeed see Apple doing something really innovative from
 which we all benefit.

Re: Portable Bluetooth keyboard

2013-02-16 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I can't speak for the logitech 810, but the logitech 811 is spectacular both on
the mac and iPhone. I would describe it as both sleek and durable at the same
time. It's well worth the money. I have other portable keyboards, but they just
don't measure up to the 811.

Is there a way under iOs 6 to disable all push notifications for all apps at
once without going under each app and turning them off? I need to do this

what I'm demonstrating use wi-fi, so I can't just turn on airplane mode. Any

Re: Changing voices after jailbreaking the iphone 5, is that possible?

 Hi,

Lets try and condense Bens instructions a little. Part of the below
was taken from a guide originally created by @pitermach on Twitter.
 Assuming you're running Windows - not 7 x64:

 1: download and install this:
 http://iphonefolders.com/
2: connect your device and find it in my computer; make sure you have
access to the entire file system. If you're not jailbroken you'll only
be able to browse the media folder and this hack will not be possible
 for you unfortunately.
3: Download the voice that you want from http://www.vocalizer-nvda.com
4: On your computer, navigate to
 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/VoiceServices.framework/TTSResources/
 on your device.

Now you should see subfolders with language codes. You can, however,
ignore these and drop in any other data you wish and it will work (in
fact, for the sake of this guide, we'll be replacing samantha with
Lee, but other combinations will work as well)
Enter one of these folders. You will see a file called broker.hdr, a
few dat files, and a text file called user_rules.txt. This file is
custom written by Apple, and it can be used as a dictionary (ever
wondered why your iDevice pronounces artists like Rihanna correctly?
Well, there you go). You can either leave it as is, or replace it by
the file of the language you're replacing it with (IE, since I'm
replacing Sammy with Lee, I could take the rules file out of then
en-AU folder. But since that file is much smaller, I chose not to.)
Now, go ahead and make a backup of this folder in case you break
something - E.G. copy paste to a folder on your computer.

We'll now prepare the voice data:

Time to look at the NVDA vocalizer driver. When you open the adon's
zip file or folder, you will see a locale folder, which contains
strings for NVDA and a folder with the language code (for lee, it's
ENA), and you want to go there. There will be only a speech folder so
enter that as well. Now you'll see 2 folders, components, and vautov5.
The components folder will have a bunch of dat files. You will
definitely need these 3, languagecode and voicename will change
depending what voice you're working with
 clc_languagecode_cfg3.dat
 clc_languagecode_voicename_cfg3.dat
 select_voicename_bet2f22.dat

The 2 files below contain the voice data for the standard variant:
 synth_voicename_dri40_155mrf22_270_06.dat, or something to that
effect, is the standard variant, which has a bunch of compression on
 it.
synth_voicename_dri40_vssq5_f22.dat is the standard high version,
which sounds very similar to the premium variant, and I'd recommend
 using this one.
next is synth_voicename_full_155mrf22_270_06.dat, this is the premium
variant, again, the one which has compression on it. This is the one
iOS downloads for Siri, at least on my iPod touch 5. And, not
surprisingly, below that, is synth_lee_full_vssq5_f22.dat, the premium
high version, the largest one, just choose the one you want.

Then we have the lexicon files. THe one with dri40 in the name is for
standard, and the one with full is, not surprisingly, for premium. THe
compact lexicon is included in iOS already. No idea how NVDA gets it.
Again, take the one appropriate to the variant you picked.
You may have noticed we have everything... except brokerhdr. Well, you
will find it in the vautov5 folder. But what the! THere are many hdr
 files here! What to do!
Well, it's simple. Notice that the names correspond to the .dat files.
SO there is a hdr file for compact, standard, standard high, premium,
and premium high. Just get the one appropriate to what variant you
have, put it with everything else, and rename it to broker.hdr.
That's it! Now go and delete the files from your iDevice, and upload
your new voice. You can access it by selecting what ever language you
replaced from the roter, so in our case, Lee will now be under US
 English.

If you're running 7 x64 or OSx, you'll be unable to install iPhone
folders, so instead, do the following:

1: Open Cydia then search for and install openssh.
2: On your device, navigate to settings wifi network name more
info (Where network name is the name of the network your connected to)
and make a note of your ip address.
3: Using a program such as putty on Windows or the terminal on OSx,
connect to your iPhones newly installed SSH server using the ip
 address we've just found.
4: Login with the following credentials:
 User: root
 Password: alpine
5: Type passwd without the quotes and change your password by
following the onscreen instructions. This step is important.
6: You now need a method of transfering files to your device; Putty
comes with a console app called psftp that

Re: retiring my apple bt keyboard

2013-02-07 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I have another question about this keyboard. You said to press the 3 function
keys to switch between devices, but what happens if you need those function
keys for an app on the mac such as RS games? I know that you press f2 on rs
games to send a chat message. So does the fact that f1-f3 are switching keys
take away the regular functions of those keys on the mac?

Re: DVD Converter

2013-02-01 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I can attest to the accessibility of magic dvd ripper on the mac, I just tried
the demo version with the link you've provided. It works great, I used to use
handbreak, but it didn't convert the dvd to just audio, which magic dvd ripper
does. I do plan on trying the version of dvd audio extractor for mac though.
I'll let you know how accessible it is, if anybody's interested.
Hope this helps someone,

 Hi Raul, Marci and others,

Yes, Magic DVD Ripper is easy to find if you google it, but it's even easier
 if you go to www.MagicDVDRipper.com.

They do make a couple of other products though, there is, for example, also
Magic DVD Copier and you can buy both together for a lower price. I bought
Magic DVD Ripper only and I think the way to go is to spend $50 which gives
you the program as well as lifetime free upgrades.

It's really relatively simple to use, when you first open it it asks you for
the source so select your DVD Drive, then specify an output folder and the
format you want, it has things like Apple TV, iPhone, iPad etc. Then do a
Control+S to start the conversion, it does take time. I only did one and I
think Jaws reads the progress no problem.

Re: Bad Sleep/Wake Switch

2013-01-31 Thread Moop Curran
Hi Tom,
I have the same issue with my sleepwake switch on my iPhone 4s. I know for a
fact I don't have apple care plan. So, I enabled the assistive touch menu on my
phone, if that's enabled, I can just go to that menu and there's a button to
lock your screen on there. If you want more details about the assistive touch
features on iOs 6, see David Woodbridge's excellent podcast on applevis, I
think he did it back in October or November some time. Sorry I can't help with
your other questions.

 Hi,
I bought my 32-gig iPhone 4 from ATT in April of 2011 or thereabouts.
I have some questions about the phone, which has suddenly developed a problem
with the Sleep/Wake switch. It's gotten really difficult to press for some
reason and doesn't stand out as much as the switch on my friend's iPhone 4.
The phone has seen a lot of use and has been dropped a time or two in the
past, but never on a hard surface, and I always keep it in an Otterbox
Defender case. It has not been dropped recently.

 So my questions are these:
 1. Has anybody heard of the on/off switches getting funky from normal wear
and tear on the iPhone 4?
 2. I can't remember buying Apple Care for it, but my girlfriend swears that I
did. Is there a way to check that through the Apple website or would that
information be available on the phone itself?
 3. I'm eligible for an upgrade but money's tight right now. Assuming that I
don't have Apple Care, would Apple replace the device or repair it, and how
much is that apt to cost me?
 4. Would I be better off taking it back to my local ATT store to see what
 they can do for me?

 Thanks in advance.

 Tom

text editors for dropbox

2013-01-31 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I'm in search of a text editor for my iPad mini that will work with dropbox.
But, I also need to be able to customize what folder my documents go into. For
instance, I use notesy sometimes, but it puts my documents in a folder called
notesy by default. I want to be able to specify where I put my documents as I
save them, like I would on the computer. I used to use droptext, but it's now
constantly saying that my changes can't be saved. I like droptext because I
could go to the specific folder and save my documents where I wanted them
depending on what I was writing at the time. Is there another app out there
like that?
Thanks,
Courtney

a round-about way of saving pictures from mms messages on the mac

2013-01-27 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
This only will work on a mac, but still pertains very much so to the iPhone, so
I thought some of you might be interested. I figured out a very round-about way
to save pictures from text messages to my computer without disabling voiceover
on my phone. First, I had to go to the place in the message that says contains
media. Then, I used my rotar to get to the edit menu, then I selected copy and
double-tapped it. Then, I made a new message to myself, and pasted the photo
from the other message into it and hit send. Then I went to the messages
application on my mac running mountain lion and saved the attachment from the
message on my computer that way. You may ask why I didn't just turn vo off on
my phone and save the picture to my phone that way. The reason is because I
have the assistive touch menu on so I can lock my screen, because my lock
button sticks. In my case turning voiceover off would be more complicated
because I have assistive touch toggle and voiceover toggle on my tripple click
menu. I hope this is helpful to some one and I hope it's not too off-topic.

Re: Reading .brf Files On The iPhone

So there's no way to read the .brf files from NLS on ios without a braille

 Hi, Mary,

IOS has a built[in translator to convert text into Grade Two Braille. As an

 Grade One.

A brf file is actually a plain ASCII text file with normal characters that
represent Braille. There is no special computer formatting for a brf file.
Therefore, this same text is rendered accurately when it's placed into an
 epub file.

You can use Stanza to convert files to epub. You can also use TextEdit to
export the files to pdf format.

Again, the text, completely translated into Grade Two as originally produced
by NLS, is rendered perfectly. It looks perfect on a Braille display, but
since the characters represent Braille, it will be spoken as gibberish if
 you use speech.

 I hope this helps. :)

 Hi Teresa,
I'm confused. What I think you said is that it is possible to read brf
files if you first convert them to epub for importation into iBooks. How
the heck do you convert a brf file into an epub? And once you did that,
then wouldn't it be translated out of braille grade II into regular print
in the epub form? So you'd need a braille translator together with a
program that converted the text from the braille translator into epub? And
then you would have to read that file with grade II translation turned on.
Clearly, I'm missing some big step here.

Music app that works on the iPad

you will have access to it all. Then there are links to share folders that
you would want others to see.

So if you want just one subfolder to be given to someone, it will have a url
for them to click on, and will only show the portion you allowed them access
 to.

 Make sense?

viewing just one calendar in the calendar app?

Hi,
Is there a way to just view a list from just one of my calendars in the

assignments in the work sections from the icloud calendar, is there a way I
can see exclusively this part of the calendar and nothing else? The facebook

Re: Muxic is an App Worth Checking Out

2012-08-28 Thread Moop Curran
Hi,
I love this app, but I have one question, can I adjust the gap between songs to
none?
Thanks,
Courtney

Hi all, for those who don't follow me on Twitter or haven't checked out

my 4S, replacing Apple's built-in Music App. Here's the description from the
 App Store.

 Music lovers love Muxic.

 Why?

Muxic gives you the most features of any music player on the app store. From
crossfading to volume normalization to artist info and exploration features,
Muxic is the music fan's best
 friend.

If you're passionate about music, Muxic is the only way to listen.

 Features:

 * Intelligent Crossfading eliminates the gaps between your music, without
fading out too early or fading in too late. It analyzes your music to give
 you that radio-style listening
 experience you crave.

 * Per-song customization to further refine the crossfading fade-in, fade-out,
 volume and normalization levels.

 * Volume normalization options that can make your quiet music louder.

 * Genre stations for quick mixes of similar music.

 * Similar artist stations makes playlists based on similar artists that exist
 in your library.

 * Learn about your music with the artist info screen that has tons of
information about the artists in your library, including similar artists,
biographies, and more! (Data provided by The Echo Nest).

 * Tweet what you're listening to!

 * Gesture-enabled playlist, library and now playing screens.

 * Advanced playlist capabilities for easy playlist creation and maintenance,
including the ability to select whether you want to replace the queue, mix
into the queue, or append to the
queue whenever you want to add a group of songs.

 * Informative lock screen image to show you what's playing now, and what's
 coming up soon.

 * Full song scrubbing.

 * Airplay enabled (via the lock screen).

 * Full support for headphone controls.

 * Full accessibility features for visually-impaired users.

 * Instructions built into the app.

 * Ability to turn off crossfading.

Fine print: As is the case with most other crossfading apps, DRM-protected
music cannot be played through Muxic, as the crossfading and normalization
cannot be applied. MP3s, as well
as most recent purchases from iTunes in the past couple of years are likely
 not DRM-protected.

Just adding my own comments to that description, it appears another thing
that should be added to the fine print is that songs need to be on your
phone, not in the cloud through iTunes Match.

If you're familiar with Winamp and the SQR crossfading plug-in many of us
have been using for over a decade, it's almost as good as that, very
impressive. It is making intelligent decisions about when to play the next
song based on the volume of the finishing one. The normalisation is also
excellent, it sounds like it is using a little dynamic compression.

 You can find it at

still having major read2go issues on the iPhone

Hi,
I'm still having some major read2go issues, I have the acapella voices set to

pressing next section, which defeats the purpose of reading for me. Is there
any way to continuously read the book with the acapella voices? I've gotten
this to work fine on my ipad, but I'd like to be able to actually enjoy reading
a book on my phone without pressing next section every couple of seconds.

Thanks,

Hi,
Oops, sorry, I was in a hurry this afternoon, yes, you use it with voiceover

people, such as me can use this game properly. In the game, you have to adopt

only been playing it for a couple of hours, but it's sure entertaining. There's
