ebook reader

2023-12-10 Thread juanhernandez98
Hi All,

So I buy books from wuxiaworld.com, in the pst I would send to kindle the
mobi file, but kindle no longer supports .mobi files.

When I try and send the epub version of the book send to kindle says it
doesn't support this format even though it is supposed to. When I email or
use send to kkindle web, the epub files always fail.

I wanted to know what are some accessible epub readers for iphone?

And, I've tried opening the book in apple books a nd it works, but I can't
seem to get the same reding experience as I get in my kindle app. I just
want to be able to swipe down on the page and ihave it just read to end, but
when voice over gets to the bottom it then reads the progress of the book,
and stops, I have to change pages, can anyone of you give me any pointers on
how to best use apple books? Or point to a good guide on using apple books?

Thanks.

kindle app on iphone not showing some books right

2023-08-24 Thread juanhernandez98
Hi All,

I have a weird issue. I just downloaded a book from kindle unlimited and a
lot of the words are merged together, no spaces between like this: the
monster ranafter the player, and theplayer wasn't able to keep away from
themonster.

When I load the same book on my kindle for pc, on windows, and it reads just
fine.

I've tried restarting my phone, I'e reinstalled the app, but no luck.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Juan

No fix for Telegram. For years, IOS users have repeatedly submitted feedback

You are a funny man, my friend (big smile).

Actually, I am only halfway through the presentation, as yet. It's a bit long
and, to be honest, the keynote presentation format has gotten a bit tiresome.

I mean, Apple announces new stickers as though they have come up with a cure
for cancer.

And you know what? Several of the app features they present as ground breaking
can already be done on Android.

Not that I am bitter but I think the reason list traffic is slow, this year, is
because there was nothing truly exciting, at least, not from my perspective. I
have yet to watch the Vision Pro presentation but with a price tag at over
$3000, it might as well not exist.

Wow, I do sound a bit bitter, eh? (smile).

I had no time to listen to Apple's keynote this morning nor this evening so
far. I surely thought I would find a lot of messages discussing what was said
tonight, but to my surprise there was not a single message.
I really thought I would see a lot of comments as used to be the case about iOS

place preorders for everybody for the $3,500 US virtual reality headset which
Apple apparently announced for early 2024 

RE: A Question for Audible Subscribers

2022-04-18 Thread juanhernandez98
Hi Mark,

SO I am not sure tht I am having the same issue. I am not sure when, but in
the last 3-6 months, I can nolonger swipe right through the books in my
library. I'll swipe right maybe 5-8 times, swiping passed a book on each
swipe, and when I think I get to the bottom of the screen instead of moving me
to the next book, VoiceOver looses focus and kicks me back to the top of the
screen.

I was using my friends google pixel 6 pro and the swipe through the books works
just fine.

I've been meaning to report this to audible, just have been swamped with work
and haven't had the time.

Is this the issue you are referring to?

Thanks.

Hello All,

I know I saw a post about this but I cannot locate the solutions, if any exists.

For some reason, even when in list view, VoiceOver seems to skip titles in my
Audible Library when I am browsing through them.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Interestingly, I did not begin experiencing this issue until I merged my
original Audible account with my Amazon account.

All replies greatly appreciated.

when on the screen when using the rotter I get speech rate, read afer delay,
landmarks, and vertical nivagation. Before I never got those options when
it worked correctly. I know if I reset my apple tv to factory defaults, it
will go back to normal, but I don't know what I am doing to get it in this
weird mode. I hate to reset it every time this happens as that is such a
pain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Could a smart backpack replace guide dogs? Researchers think so. - The Washington Post

2021-05-26 Thread juanhernandez98
Why is it so hard for blind folks to pickup dog poop?

I mean really, if you can’t pick it up, maybe a dog isn’t for you.

Yeah but then another blind person will probably come and walk over it which is
disgusting!!! In my area there’s lots of dog poo around on the street and you
always feel extra apprehensive in case you step in it. Other people just go
around or over it but of course blind people have no choice but to go through
it if they are walking alone.

exactly, yet another point in the robot's favour. although here in the UK, I
believe guide dog users are exempt from having to clear it up. I know they used
to be anyway, but not sure if that is still the case now.

and yet another point, is that the robot one should take you to exactly where
you want to go, even if you have no idea of how to get there, and no sense of
direction, where as that would probably be a heck of a lot to ask from the
standard guide dog.

Yeah,

And it wont poo on the street needing you to then clean it up.

possibly, but unlike the real dog, one won't have to be so concerned about it
getting too distracted by such attention, and the robot one could very easily
even be programmed to say something along the lines of, "buzz off, I'm trying
to do a job here, and you are not helping"

By nature, people are curious. Anything different will attract their attention.
Rightly or wrongly, one of the things I like about being a guide dog owner is
that I feel the attention tends to go to the dog rather than me. A robot guide
dog is likely to draw just as much attention.

Hello:
I have a perplexing problem.
I am working with a client who has turned off the sound that your iPhone makes
when you slide up from the bottom or down from the top of the screen. Does
anybody know what that sound is called and how do you turn it back on?
I’ve never had this problem before. Mine has always worked and I never wanted
to turn it off!

RE: Could a smart backpack replace guide dogs? Researchers think so. - The Washington Post

2021-05-25 Thread juanhernandez98
Agreed. I have been a cane user since I was 8 years old, and once I lost my
vision when I was 14, I felt my cane gave me a great deal of independence. I
have been a guide dog user for the last 23 years, and rarely use my cane, but I
always carry a telescoping cane in my back pack for emergencies. The key is
independence, so how ever you reach it, that is what matters. You should not
be ashamed of how you get there. After all, in this case, it isn’t the journey
that matters but the fact you got there independently is what truly matters. I
love my guide dog, I’m on my forth, and for me, a guide dog is supreme for
moving through the world, and also you are never alone. That’s just my two
cents.

Best,

Juan

Hi, Sieghard,

I also am never embarrassed by my cane. If people are staring at me, I feel
that they are either awed, amazed, or wondering what I am doing! Haha! In
addition, I feel very positive about using my cane and that we are educating
the general public on how independent we can be. I have no issue with people
using guide dogs because they are absolutely wonderful and we are very
fortunate to have choices in life.

Take care.

why is it ridiculous? sighted people get directions on their phone, and are
told what to do at every turn. I personally was always embarrassed by a cane,
and allergic to dogs. if tech can help us out why not? I for one hated my cane,
loathed it because it made me feel different than my sighted friends at school.
I live in a rural area, like to walk close arm in arm with my husband, and my
cane is in a closet, and has been for years. If I could use something techy I
would be far more excited about travelling alone.

why is it ridiculous? sighted people get directions on their phone, and are
told what to do at every turn.
If I could use something techy I
would be far more excited about travelling alone.

all with pin point accuracy, the cane is next to useless!

so for someone like myself, the robot guide dog, if fitted with the right tech,

note apps

2021-05-24 Thread juanhernandez98
Hi All,

So I've used macjournal for years on the mac/iphone/ipad. But I need
something that will sync my notes with my windows computers as well. Are
there any such apps?

How has evernote accessibility come around? Some years ago it wasn't all
that great.

Best,

Juan

Alex has had that breathing sound since the beginning when it was on the Mac as
the default voice.

When they brought it to the iPhone, they kept him breathing.

I knew one elderly woman in a retirement center who was losing her vision and
learned how to access her Mac with VoiceOver and from hence forth, referred to
Alex as her boyfriend, with a huge grin.

I prefer Alex when he is silent, as in not on my iPhone.

Just as with headsets, which voice to use is extremely subjective so you will
always get a lot of different answers. I prefer the female SIRI voice, of
course if I could have Eloquence that would be so fantastic, but I am afraid it
will never happen.

I dislike Alex for the exact reason most who use him as their voice like him,
he sounds or tries to sound "too human" and I really couldn't care less if my
synthesizer can breath or not.

xcode files missing in navigator

2021-04-28 Thread juanhernandez98
HI All,

So I have some files missing from my xcode project.

Online it says that there is a filter bar at the bottom of navigator, with a
little clock icon button, and to uncheck it because that just shows most
recent. How can we with voiceover access this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Juan

Subject: Does this Cable for the iPhone Exist?

Hi to the list.

At one time, I had a patch chord that would connect to the iPhone through a 3.5
inch adapter and then to the lightning plug through an adapter to the output of
the iPhone..

The other end of this chord was a USB connector.

This chord would somehow magically allow the iPhone to be seen as an
alternative input device, thereby allowing me to record directly from the
iPhone onto the PC using any recording program.

I have looked and looked all over Amazon, but cannot find this chord again.

As I say, it was wonderful to be able to record the audio output from the
iPhone right on to the PC.

Just curious if anyone knows about this type of chord, or what it might be
called, or does it still exist?

Any assistance appreciated!

Thanks.
