This has happened to me about 3 or 4 times over the last few months with my 
Apple watch 8. I also could hear the clicking and there was no reason for the 
watch to stop talking. I do use Apple air pods 2nd gen but the watch rarely 
connects to them. The first time I told watch Siri to start outdoor walk 
workout and held the watch close to my ear pod and I could hear it on the 
earpod. Then it started talking again. No rhyme or reason. Lately when it 
happens I go to the watch screen mirroring in the Accessibility under the 
Settings app on my iPhone SE 3. (It does take more than a minute for the watch 
to connect.) Actually I can’t say I followed any specific steps from here but 
after a while of trying various things the sound has come back.
I have been afraid to try turning the watch off without speech since on 
Christmas eve I was going to restart it and it went into emergency mode. 
Luckily that time I was able to get a sighted friend to cancel it.
I wish I could be more precise about what I did but I do hope this might help.

I am running watch 10 but it also happened when I was running watch  OS 9 as 
well.

Smart news running fine on my SE3 and 16.7. I I do have automatic updates, turned off and appreciate warnings of apps that are broken in their updates. Need recommendation for power Bank for Apple Watch Series 8

I have multiple power banks for my iPhone, and they all have a USB output. None 
of them work with my new Apple Watch. I have been scouring Amazon reading about 
possible, watch power banks, but thought it would be good to get 
recommendations of what might really work. So if you have a power bank for your 
watch, please let me know which one you have if it is a good one.

I just got the series 8 2 weeks ago. The temperature feature is pretty useless 
unless you are a female in the reproductive years. As I am well past this stage 
 this is useless to me. It only finds your average temperature while sleeping 
and then tells you if your current night you went up or down a little bit.

I will say the watch is a godsend to me now, since I am having some heart 
issues with the heart rate changing quickly, so the watch is alerting me to 
these problems. I also use the ECG feature.

I went to app store, searched for BARDmobile and it showed up in the results 
but said version 1.something. I tapped on the name to get to the description 
and there was an update button.

Re: Questions regarding smart bulbs, and Apps

Sorry to be so late with a reply. I ended up getting four of the following 
bulbs and found they work beautifully. When I ordered them there was a box to 
check so they were preset for my Alexa. There was no other equipment to buy or 
App I needed to download. As soon as I installed them and turned them on they 
appeared on my Alexa app on my phone. I plan to order a few more now that the 
price is back to $9.99 instead of $14.99.

Hi Karla,
Occasionally when I can’t get Annie sound on my iPhone I discover that one of 
my sets of Bluetooth earpieces is still connected. sometimes this happens even 
when the earpiece is in the charging case. Then, using the earpiece or Siri 
I’ll turn off Bluetooth which disconnects the earpiece. So sound returns to the 
iPhone.

Hint for playing latest version of seven little words

At first I was a bit frustrated trying to play the latest version of seven 
little words. I practically had to pound on the screen to make it register 
which tile I wanted.  I wrote about this problem to the company and got a reply 
back that said they were working on it but it seemed the first tap highlighted 
the tile and messed up the double tapso I started trying a single finger triple 
tap and it works great!  When in the clues section the triple tap still changes 
from Characters two words when using the two finger swipe rightbut just about 
every other place a triple tap with regular amount of pressure does the trick.
I also discovered that if you wait for the word button to be spoken and then 
immediately double tap it works some of the time. But the triple tap is much 
more dependable.
I do love being able to swipe from section to section.

Problem solved. I had to open settings app and go to bard. Then I had to turn 
on initialization. When I opened the bard app there was the page to agree to 
the terms. I tapped the Agree button several times using voiceover of course 
but it did nothing except say selected. So then I tapped the second button 
which just said star. It opened a screen that said I had to agree. So I had my 
cited husband tap the agree button with voice over turned off and then he said 
there was a start button which he tapped. It then opened the login screen which 
I completed and all was well.

Bard app won’t open!

My Bard app will not open at all. I used it normally last evening. Now, no 
matter which way I try to open it it just says audio and then reverts to the 
home screen. I tried opening it by double tapping, by going to the app switcher 
which does say it is open, by going to App Store and tapping on open. I even 
went to manage storage in settings and offloaded the app and then did the 
reinstall app that was supposed to work without deleting my data. I really, 
really do not want to delete the app totally as I have 92 books in my 
downloaded library.
I am running the latest version of the Bard app on my SE 2020 which is running 
14. Seven. One.
Bard is still working on my old 6S which is running the same specs as my SE 
2020.
By the way, I did restart the phone twice after deleting everything from app 
switcher to see if that would help. It did not.
Any ideas other than deleting and starting over with the app Would be greatly 
appreciated.

To edit a file in dropbox, just open it normally and then choose edit down at 
the bottom of the page. That brings up your keyboard and you can use text 
selection and edit commands to make your changes or copy information to put 
into other documents or whatever.

Re: Question about IOS update

I was going to wait to install the update, but after reading the article about 
the security flaws and apples urging people to update right away I will. My 
brother in law even called me after he watched the evening news on ABC I think 
and told me about the major security flaws.

So I guess it is not a good idea to wait.

Re: direct touch area.

I have only had experience with the direct touch area on my blindfold games 
solitaire. I could start the game but if I was interrupted by a phone call or 
notification or anything the game would stop working. Closing the game and the 
app switcher and restarting did no good. Only restarting the whole phone. Then 
I realized the game is self voicing so I could turn off voiceover when it was 
having a direct touch problem and it worked. Just a workaround for the games 
until the direct touch is gone!

Focus going crazy with full keyboard access turned on

This is a warning to be sure you do not turn on full keyboard access in the 
keyboard section of the accessibility settings. Two days ago I was trying to 
get the emoji keyboard back and tried turning this on. I did get the emoji 
keyboard back but forgot I had turned this on when trying to figure out why my 
phone was going crazy. My favorite game, seven little words, would not work at 
all. And the focus in apps such as mail, reminders, and messages kept jumping 
all over the place till I was going nuts.
So I just did a search for the word focus in my Viphone emails and found The  
solution from Sieghard. Thank goodness I do not delete any group emails that 
might come in handy someday!

Activating links in text message

I finally had to bite the bullet and upgrade to IOS 14.2 a couple weeks ago.  I 
really really miss my iOS 12. today it is acting differently than a day or two 
ago. How can I activate a link in a text message? I tried going to the actual 
link word by word before double tapping on it but it didn’t work. I used to be 
able to go to links in the roter and find the actual link but links is no 
longer in the rotor for text messages. I double tap on the message and then did 
a swipe down for choices. None of the choices would activate the link.
The focus is also jumping around a bit in basic apps that seem to be OK 
yesterday.

Saving a photo from Facebook is very easy. Open the Facebook app on your 
iPhone. Do a one finger double tap on the photo to open it. Swipe to the word 
more. Double tap on it and the first choice is save photo which will save it to 
your Photos app on the phone

I am not sure about copying a whole book from Voice dream reader to dropbox but 
I copy various documents and such all the time. When I tap and open a document 
or PDF or whatever at the top of the screen I choose document. It then has 
choices to export the document. I then select copy to dropbox and follow the 
steps for doing this in a Dropbox program.

I am thinking that perhaps you can only set up an account if you are the one 
paying the bill.
If the app gets the sign on information from your spectrum modem then you can 
only use it when you are in range of that particular modem. That is the way my 
husband‘s iPhone is set up. 
I set mine up by putting in the user name and password and I can use it even 
when there is no spectrum available.


My only complaint about the app is that I like to use the live TV tab to pick 
what to watch. I have not found a way to turn off the video sound so that I can 
hear the voiceover reading the other choices. Very aggravating but usable  .

I can still create a new folder but not the way you suggest. I just tried it 
using Jaws 19.
In the Mail app I went to Folders and pressed space bar. I moved through the 
beginning of the list where it has my joined folders. When I reached my first 
individual account it said
Create new folder for Silly 4 account. Press space bar.
So I did and typed in a name and pressed enter.
Then I pressed enter on the OK that came up.
I then went to check and see if the folder showed up on my iPhone and it did, 
at the bottom of the folder list for that account.

For a while now, I've been having issues creating a new folder in my Gmail 
account using the Mail app. I used to be able to go to my list of folders, 
press edit, then press new. That would let me write a folder name, hit done, 
and have a new place to move emails. It would also sync beautifully with Gmail, 
creating a label on the server that I could use in Gmail on the web, too (not 
that I do that much anymore). Now, I just get a message that says something 
like, "Could not create new mailbox." Has anyone else had this problem?

 One possible work around:
 1. bring up the list of months.
 2. Select current month (or another month where you know you have an event).
 3. You should then have a month screen with all the days showing. Before 
selecting a day with an
 event on it, if the list button is shown as selected,
 unselect it with a double tap.
 4. Having done that, Swipe through until you find a day where an event should 
show. For 
 example, it might say Friday 11th April, 1 event, then double tap
 on that day.
 I think that I then needed to double tap the List choice at the top.
 5. All events that you have on the calendar should then show up on the next 
screen.
 If the list button is selected on the month screen, tapping on an event 
doesn't work.

RE: setting a different alarm sound in the native clock

The same thing happened to me. Open the clock app. Choose Add at the top.
Set up a new alarm timethat is not already included in your list. Choose sound 
and then you can go through your songs or ring tones you have on the phone and 
choose the one you want. Choose save.
When you set future alarms, even with Siri it will default to your last chosen 
song or ring tone.
I think it may have defaulted away from my chosen ring tone because of the last 
update I installed.  I did not notice since I usually use many of the same 
alarm times and they were already set to my preferred sound.

Sorry. Not used to answering emails on my phone. Forgot to tap to put the 
starting point at the top.
After I clear the browsing history I did not have to actually sign out of the 
app although I was ready to do so if necessary.
Details about clearing the browsing history in my first email in this thread. 
Open navigation menu. Go to your account. Scroll way down to the bottom of the 
list to find browsing history. That is where you can clear it.

Go to open navigation menu in upper left-hand corner. Then double tap on your 
account. It actually says the words your account. Then scroll and scroll way 
down to the bottom of the list and it has browsing history. That’s where you 
can clear it.
The sign out is under the settings choice in the navigation menu.

RE: Spectrum TV App

I recently signed up for the Spectrum app and find it fairly easy to navigate. 
I love that I can pick my favorite channels and then see what is currently 
playing on each in a list.
I also like that I can choose a program on my phone and then choose to play it 
on the living room TV!
What I can’t figure out is how to make the app stop playing a choice.  When I 
go to a tab for example Live TV, it immediately starts playing the audio from 
some station, probably the last one I was watching. I can go through the list 
and if I choose something it will replace the audio I hear from the previous 
one. But it won’t go silent.  Even when I choose to play it on the living room 
TV the phone still keeps playing the audio and it is a second or so off from 
the audio from the actual TV.
I have been using a work around of closing the app in the app switcher when 
watching on the TV but want to know how to silence the app.

I do have a DVR box, and you can get on demand from that box, but it also works 
delightfully well right from with in the app.
Thousands of programs, and they are very very easy to find and to play 
immediately, either on your phone, or through the DVR box.

Hello, you are indeed correct that while watching live TV, you can switch to 
the secondary audio channel.  
I have not found a way to do this while watching a program from the DVR, nor 
have I found any fast forward controls.
I’m using the latest Spectrum app on an iPhone with IOS 12.
There is a bit of a problem with the guide.
You can easily scroll through the guide for any given channel, then tap on 
network schedule for that channel.
The programs are listed, but Voiceover does not announce the times of the day 
that programs are airing. It just simply says Time,, the name of the program, 
but then if you elect to record the program, the times are then announced 
correctly.
I like the app pretty well, but there some definite improvements that could be 
made.

I know you can watch live TV with the app, and understand that you can also

stuff from your DVR, are you able to switch the audio there .. and are you able 
to rewind and fast forward?

The two finger double tap and hold will not assist in having the photos app 
recognize faces in other photos.  But there is a way to make the photos app 
recognize people for you.  Mine recognizes me, my husband, my sister, my son, 
my grandson, and a good friend.  I set this up years ago so am not sure of step 
by step directions but seem to remember that you go to albums and then to 
People.  Originally it showed lists of photos in groups and I did need sighted 
help to see who was the common denominator in each group of pictures.  Once 
these groups were labeled the app continues to label these people in future 
pictures.  For example it will tell me if a photo contains my sister and me, or 
my husband and me or whichever of the named people it recognizes,, similar to 
the way Facebook will identify some people in photos.

Sometimes, the same person is identified in more than one group. To merge all 
of the photos under one group, tap Select, then tap all of the thumbnails

merge if you give them the same name.

Favorite people

You have lots of friends and family members in your People album. Mark the 
People that you access the most as a Favorite so that it's easier to find them
in the future.

I don’t know of a way to “name your face”, I assume what he has done was do a 
2-finger double tap and hold and simply give the picture a label just as you 
can label a button or home screen icon with this method and it will oly label 
that pictutre. Also, the label or name will not stick if you send this picture 
to your computer or somebody else.

RE: Facebook Rookie Question

I am running the latest  update of Facebook on an iPhone 6s with version 
11.4.1..
My Facebook app is different.  The tabs across the bottom are Newsfeed, Friend 
requests, Watch, Notifications, and Facebook menu.  To get to Facebook Menu I 
just double tap with one finger as usual.  The choices then are:
Your profile
Top Shortcuts
All Shortcuts
Help and Support
Settings and Privacy

If I choose Top shortcuts it shows 2 of my favorite groups but they vary.
If I choose All shortcuts it brings up an alphabetical list that includes 
individual listings for most of my groups alphabetized along with the other 
topics such as events, friends, etc. One of these choices is the word groups 
which pulls up a list of all groups that I belong to.

I am not sure what groups you are looking for.  If you mean the groups that you 
belong to then you need to go to your Facebook page to locate groups.  I cannot 
see what is written on the tabs along the bottom of my Facebook app but it 
reads newsfeed, requests, watch, market place, notifications, and lastly More.  
It says More when you touch it.  Simply double tapping on it will take you to 
your Facebook page where you can view your profile as well as your groups, 
friends, saved items, and on this day etc. etc.  

Am not sure if this helps and am not sure where you are currently tapping on 
Facebook.  I am using the app on my phone but it appears the same way on my 
IPad.  I am not sure if I am running the same version of that app that you are.

I have tried the three finger tap on a photo with text many many times and all 
it ever says is bottom of page. I have the latest version of Facebook in the 
latest iOS version. Does this actually work for other people?

I have an app on my phone calledMusic2Go, Andre Rocha, Version 1.2.
It is VO friendly. For me, the easiest way to get a song from the phone to the 
computer is to use the email option of the app. After each song there is an 
export button. Then you can choose various options. When I chose mail it 
automatically opened an email with the song attached. I just had to tap send 
and it was done. It might be slow if you have a lot of songs to transfer, but 
it works. You would have to open the email on your computer and save the 
attachments. Then you could add them to iTunes. As far as I know you cannot 
sync songs from your phone to iTunes because it will erase the ones on the

When I tap on the player button it takes me to a list of recordings. I tap on 
the recording to play it. The recordings are named by date and time. You can 
change the name of the recording, too. While it is playing the back and forward 
buttons are at the bottom, I think.

Sorry I messed up my last reply. I don't usually answer on my iPhone because 
the dictation is tricky. Anyway, all you have to do to undim the button is to 
tap the record button and then tap it again. I made a bunch of short recordings 
that way just to test it out. It worked fine. The player button takes you to 
the list of recordings. I really like the button that lets you go back 15 
seconds since I do a lot of transcribing. I usually use list recorder full but

I just tapped the record button and then once more to stop recording. Then the player and settings buttons were undimmed. Re: Easy to use recording app free today

Easy to use recording app free today

This app is free today. I downloaded it and it is quite voice over friendly. 
You can even set it to start recording when you open it. Can also save 
recordings to iCloud.

Re: dictating a post in Facebook

There does not seem to be any reason why it does this when dictating.

 Dictation seems to work better in other apps. I have been dictating only one 
sentence at a time. Then I tap up top above the keyboard to see if the cursor 
is still at the end of the dictation before going on to the next sentence. Then 
I proofread it by word and sometimes character because I don't want to have a 
mistake on my Facebook posts.
