Thank you Jim for the Nook developers address. I have sent a note to them. Developers need to be praised when they take the blind community into account as well as when there is a problem. Re: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible
Don't waste your breath, Apple want to be the only place you can purchase content directly within iOS. You are better off asking Apple to introduce similar pricing models and special offers to compete. iBooks are totally accessible. If you want a more open market place, then I would suggest Android. Otherwise, it is iTunes on your device or purchase via your computer and then download directly to your device via the app. On 29 Nov 2012, at 13:42, Richard Turner richard.turne...@gmail.com wrote: Contact Apple feedback to request that they allow third party app developers to provide an online buying interface in their apps. apple took that away. Exactly. And Apple didn't take that away. They just told the developers, we want a cut of the revenue from that as well. The developers decided, thanks but, no thanks Apple. Re: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible
Nook books are epub, but drm-protected, so you can only read them on Adobe Editions on the Mac or on the IPhone with the Nook app. This is indeed fantastic news. I had tried the Nook app a couple of weeks ago, and was very disappointed at the time that it wasn't accessible. Now I'm definitely going to give it another shot. Re: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible
Hi, The Nook app can read unprotected ePub and claims to read PDF, in addition to its own protected ePub format. I have confirmed the unprotected ePub; I had one in my dropbox, so I opened it in Dropbox, and Open in Nook was one of the options when I chose Export. I haven't tried a PDF yet. RE: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible
So is this like Audible, in that one sets up an online account with Nook, purchases them via laptop or desktop, the purchased books are in a Nook library that one can then access and download using the app? How accessible is the Nook website and library? This sounds great. I guess a head-to-head comparison of same book in iBooks and Nook will be very interesting! -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Jim Fettgather Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2012 4:08 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible This is a free app from the App store. -Original Message- From: Patti Johnson Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2012 3:55 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible I read about this; is this an app you get on your iphone or do you just buy the Nook itself and can use it with Voiceover? This is really awesome. I was hoping the kindle app would be accessible, but it seems not to be. I'm glad to read that the nook is. I'll definitely try this out. Re: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible
as far as this app is concerned, are we talking about audio books, or just standard eBooks? Just to let everyone know that Barnes and Noble does have a $5 and less section, plus they put one book up every Friday for free download. Now of coarse, the books in the $5 section is not the most current top 10 books, but they are definitely worth checking out. And no matter what, you can not beat at least downloading and trying out the book put up for free each Friday! This is great news about the nook app being accessible, and I just thought I would pass along the couple of things I know. Re: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible
I downloaded this app, and was surprised to find that I already have a B and N account. I went to my Mac, bought a book from the under $5 category, and saw it available on my iPhone almost immediately. Reading is much like iBooks, and it uses the standard iPhone gestures. Kudos to Barnes and Noble...its about time. With this app,iBooks, and Read 2 Go, I have no reason for a Kindle app or device. I stick my tongue out at you Amazon! Re: Nook App for IOS Devices Now Accessible
I wonder if it doesn't like the period in your email address though I wouldn't think that would be an issue. At least I think I heard a period in there. Actually, I have no idea and am reaching for straws here; hope you get to the bottom of it! I just went to the website and registered and bought a book and read some on my iPhone. I have a Kindle (the old one that they now call the kindle keyboard) and I do use it some and have found ways to do a few things with it. But hopefully this may be another development that will encourage Amazon to rethink their policy in this area. Does anybody know where to email BE to commend them? -- Cheryl May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
