Re: Apple Watch Ultra, who has one and would you buy it again?

2023-09-20 Thread ka4wxv
Hello,
Is it possible to play internet streams through the watch speaker on an Ultra?
I have recently purchased an Ultra and have been unable to achieve this. I
have an older Apple watch and was using an app called Streamlets to play
internet streams through watch speakers. I really enjoy being independent of
the iphone. Thanks for any help you might provide.

I purchased the Apple ultra watch last year and really like it. I like the fact
that it has a bigger screen I can hear it better and I found it to actually
wear it for a while. I dont even really notice much of a difference in
terms of weight on my wrist. Its just there and the battery life is
great because I can usually wear it for two days before I have to charge the
battery And I do like the action button as well.

I bought one at the end of May and really like the battery life and the action
button. I started out with a 45 mm watch a few years ago, but my last couple
have been 41 mm and switching to the ultra feels significantly larger than
either of those. For one, the watch is much thicker.

I traded watches with someone for about a week, so they could try out the
ultra, and I didnt depreciate their watches battery life, but the size
was a nice change, felt much less obtrusive.

With all that said, I dont think Im going back, for no other
reason than the battery life. The larger screen makes the keyboard and other
controls much easier to interact with. Sent from my iPhone

Ultimately it comes down to putting one on my wrist which unfortunately isn't
so easy because the nearest Apple Store to where we live is about 700 miles
away in Vancouver. There are a couple of stores who sell the Apple Watch here
mostly in connection with a carrier plan, but none of these stores stocks an
Ultra. But Facebook to the rescue, I just posted on one of our local "Ask a
question" type groups if anybody here had one and would be willing to let me
put it on my wrist and I received an answer within 15 minutes.
Of course it helps also that we live in a town with a population of 5000 where
if you live in town nothing is far away, then there is the fact that I have had
my retail business on Main Street for 23 years and that I am the only blind guy

by name. Anyways, one of my customers will stop by tomorrow to show me his, but
still I am curious what other Voiceover users have to say about especially if
you may have had a regular Apple Watch before and upgraded to an Ultra last
year.

RE: Apple Watch Ultra, who has one and would you buy it again?

2023-09-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
One of my customers stopped by today and showed me his Apple Watch Ultra. I put
it on my wrist and I was surprised that it wasn't heavier, but it's definitely
big and sorry, but I definitely don't think of it as sexy; that word is
reserved for a more traditional use with me 

I was surprised that my wife liked it, I really would have thought she would
find it big; now the issue is that if I decide to get one she probably would
also like it and of course you can pretty much buy 2 of the regular aluminum
cellular watches for what 1 Ultra costs. We can also afford to buy two of them,
but it really becomes a question whether I am not too cheap for that!

I do have one more question, is there a difference in terms of being able to
play anything like an audio book via the built-in speaker with the Ultra? This
is still not possible with a regular Apple Watch unless it is changing now in
Watch OS 10.

I understand the Ultra is a good bit louderbut apart from that, the action
button and the better battery life, can it do anything else a regular Apple
Watch can't do? And yes, I know you can use it as a scuba diving watch and
while I do scuba dive when I have the opportunity, it's not often enough for
this to be an important consideration.

Well, I upgraded from series 5 to the ultra that sleeps bigger than what I had.
I only wish I had kept my Milanese loop because I like that loop but I know I
can find other loops or sport watch type of bands on Amazon cheaper than an
apple. I like the trail loop that I have. It’s the trail loop band. It has
Velcro it’s nice but I wish I had a second band. Maybe I’ll buy one a metal one
or something.

Re: Apple Watch Ultra, who has one and would you buy it again?

2023-09-16 Thread lenron brown
The ultra is one sexy watch. I have tried it on a few times, and to me
isn't not that big of a jump from the 44 or 45. Everyone one is
different though.

Re: Apple Watch Ultra, who has one and would you buy it again?

2023-09-15 Thread CHELA Robles
I have one and I really like it and if this one ever dies on me, I would buy another one but I’d have to save up for that first so the long answer is save up first then buy it unless there are installment plans which I don’t think there are I had to save up for my Apple Watch Ultra locally I still have AppleCare for it and I pay $4.99 a month for AppleCare. Bought it for my birthday this year.Sent from my iPhoneOn Sep 15, 2023, at 1:05 PM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:

Anybody who bought the Apple Watch Ultra last year, do you regret getting such a large watch?
Ultimately it comes down to putting one on my wrist which unfortunately isn't so easy because the nearest Apple Store to where we live is about 700 miles away in Vancouver. There are a couple of stores who sell the Apple Watch here mostly
in connection with a carrier plan, but none of these stores stocks an Ultra. But Facebook to the rescue, I just posted on one of our local "Ask a question" type groups if anybody here had one and would be willing to let me put it on my wrist and I received
 an answer within 15 minutes.
Of course it helps also that we live in a town with a population of 5000 where if you live in town nothing is far away, then there is the fact that I have had my retail business on Main Street for 23 years and that I am the only blind guy
with a guide dog in town and just everybody at least knows me by sight if not by name. Anyways, one of my customers will stop by tomorrow to show me his, but still I am curious what other Voiceover users have to say about especially if you may have had a regular
Apple Watch before and upgraded to an Ultra last year.

Take care,
Sieghard
