Re: API changes will break Tweetbot and Twitteriffic alerts and streaming, Twitter not yet sharing new solution ahead of June deadline | 9to5Mac

2018-04-07 Thread Eric Oyen
By definition, all notifications done by twitter are push notifications. I
usually disable that functionality on my end except for DM’s and reply.
Unfortunately, their own client has other issues, such as displaying the
timeline out of sequence. In fact, I have more than 400 ham friends and I
almost never see their conversations because of the numerous promotions and “in
case you. Missed it” from influencers. Also, there is no way to set timeline
sequencing on my end (it’s all controlled on the twitter side for their
client). The web page isn’t much better. I use niteowl here on my Mac and it
does display in proper (time based) sequence. This allows me to follow
conversations (and I can even filter by subject matter, hashtag or even by
user) into separate tabs. I have yet to be able to set up something like this
via their website and their client is a freakin joke.

Btw, as of this writing, nearly 1 million people started leaving twitter today
alone. At this rate, they will have virtually no user base in 1 year. I call
their current actions slow suicide. They will cost many jobs, increase costs to
other interdependent industries and generally screw everything up on their way
down.

And oh yeah, my braille sense U2 has lost one bit of functionality (the twitter
client in it no longer works as of this last week). So much for the $6k that I
spent on an equipment loan over the last 6 years. Oh, and HLMS (the makers of
the braille sense line) won’t drop windows CE for any of the older units. It
would be. Nice to have an android OS on there.

So, we are getting it from 2 sides: twitter fscking us and HLMS no longer
supporting some of their older top rated equipment. Add to that Facebook and
their unethical behavior and I am seriously beginning to think that social
media is becoming a short lived fad.

Really? Do they have to remove push notifications? I have enabled push
notifications for the Apple news sources that I follow, and like to be updated

Yeah, it got them to clarify their position alright. They are still going ahead
with the transition, but delaying it’s execution by a couple of weeks. Also,
they still have not shared anything on their new account activity API. So, it
is likely that all third party twitter clients will be completely broken.

Btw, even though there were over 10k tweets containing #BreakingMyTwitter,
their website reports several other hashtags trending with no mention to
#BreakingMyTwitter at all. Scrubbing, anyone?

SO far, the story has been carried by Tom’s Hardware, Cnet and even Cyber
Times. Still, the twitter executives refuse to budge on their position. Btw,
this will also lock out many blind users of twitter.

blocked on both twitter and twitteriffic

2016-06-15 Thread david gross
I keep both twitter and twitterific apps on my Iphone 6plus. I use vo. When I
try and copose a tweet on twitteriffic, the tweet button is grayed out, and it
only lets me save the tweet as a draft.

On the native twitter, it keeps asking me to authorize twitter to access my
photos even though it says that was previously denied.

I donn't know what is going on in eitther case, and I don't have a work around.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Twitteriffic and Instapaper

Hello everyone,

Like the subject suggests, I am in need of knowing how to push links from
Twitterrific to Instapaper.
After searching on the Internet, I found that double tapping and holding on the

This has not worked so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: keyboard shortcuts for twitteriffic

2012-12-08 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Rebecca, I'm not aware of any keyboard shortcuts in Twitterific for iOS.
The fact that the reference was to pull-down menus suggests that that
section relates to other platforms. The closest thing to keyboard shortcuts
I've found would be the shortcut menus in Tweetlist, which you get when
double tapping and holding a tweet, or triple tapping a tweet or the tab
you've selected. It's hard to beat Tweetlist in terms of ease of use and
efficiency because of this.

One thing that I wish Twitterific would address is the redundant verbiage
you get when reading mentions, where it says conversation with X. Get a
lot of mentions in a day and this redundant speech really starts to add up.
They've clearly put a lot of work into the client though, and one advantage
of it is you can just double tap on a tweet to get a shortcut menu, which
makes it very good for dealing with tweets from a Braille display.

Also I don't think Twitterific is pushing yet, unless I've missed that in
V5.

Hi all. Here's what I get when I do a search on the knowledge base for
twitteriffic.
The following list shows keyboard commands that can be used while
Twitterrific is active. The most common ones can also be seen from the
application's various pull-down menus.

Thanks Jonathan. I was beginning to wonder about that myself wondering

Hi Mary, Echofon and the official Twitter for iPhone app are the only two
accessible options I'm aware of that have native push notifications. Some
choose to use a third party push service, such as Boxcar, to work around

Well, I'm currently following 817 Twitter accounts, and with good use of
lists that works fine. It doesn't mean that I always read every tweet, I
simply don't have time, however I have lists into which I place tweets of
people whose tweets I never want to miss.

 Ok, Jonathan, that cleared it up. I was hoping to get notified on tweets;
I'm not following that many. But I do certainly see where it wouldn't be
practical if one were following hundreds. Then again, how would you keep up
if you were following that many?

RE: creating twitter lists: was Re: twitteriffic and notifications

2012-05-21 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Melissa, in Twitter for iPhone, you can manage lists, but not create
them. I create my lists using the Qube on my PC, which is by far my
preferred means of accessing Twitter, because I have a template I've
customised that speeds me way up.

It looks like you can't actually create lists in Tweetlist either.

Jonathan, I'm curious as to which twitter app you find easier to use when
creating lists of peoples tweets you don't want to miss? apparently, I have
created lists somehow when I first got my ipad, but can't remember which app
allowed me to create them. I would eventually like to go in and delete some
and add some. is this done with the native twitter app? just curious.
thanks.

2012-05-21 Thread Garth Humphreys
TweetList on the iPhone will work for creating lists.
