Make it easy for yourself and restore the iPod back to factory settings. Go to settings general reset erase all content and settings. Then connect to iTunes to set it all up again. Next to update click the check for updates button and follow the instructions. Having said that you can do the

assuming I choose set to factory default on the iPod and then connect to iTunes, will I have the option of choosing an IOS version other than 7? I've never operated IOS 7 before. I'd love to set this thing at IOS6 if I could. Is that possible? And, I assume that, if I do this, I won't have

Hi, Personally, I have absolutely no idea why you would want to do an erase all content and settings on the iPod, only to update to iOs6 afterwards, where you also have the option of backing up (or in this case not backing up) the settings. Perhaps someone can chime in if I'm missing something.

guys, Apologies if I've posted this twice. I just inherited my wife's iPod Touch which she bought in 2009. It is running IOS 4. I want to connect it to my iTunes account. I realize this will wipe out everything of hers that's on the device. that's fine. I just don't know how to update
