I think you're confusing unlocking and jail breaking. Unlocking just
means you can use your phone on different networks, e.g. you could move
your phone between AT
T and T-Mobile here in the US. It shouldn't impact your Apple Care plan
Official unlocking doesn't void your warranty or your Apple Care plan,
and it poses no risks. There is absolutely no disadvantage to having
your phone unlocked. Unlocking let's you activate on any carrier of
your choice; that's all it does.
