If you have your credit or debit card added in your Wallet to use Apple Pay, 
can't you pay Lyft using that? You can use Apple Pay for Uber here in Canada at 
least. Never used Lyft so I can't say, but one would think they should let you 
use Apple Pay.

I don't think I have done this recently, but I had a similar issue with another 
credit card entry place and found out that, while it sounded like voice over 
was saying I only needed to enter the two-digit version of the year for the 
expiration, it actually needed the 4 digit version of the year.

yes, I have tried adding credit card to the website in fact, I've done it so 
many ways. I have the number memorized now for my own credit card.

I'm not having issues with the app, but I've also not tried adding
credit cards recently. Are you able to add payment information via the

I do the same thing. I often have to setup round trips via Lyft or Uber to drop 
my kids off somewhere, though I find this easier to do in Lyft, and I just set 
the final destination the same as my pickup location and add stops from there.

I set my final destination to be the same as my pickup location and then add 
the place I want to go as my stop.  So far, it works.

the first few numbers of the address and flicking  to the right
without double tapping on the search button. This method worked for

having the same problem. I am on iOS 13.5.1. A lot of times I only put in the 
address number and maybe just a few letters of the street name, and then 
without tapping the search button I look at the choices. They are quite 
readable.

I have no real good ideas for you except to reboot the phone or reinstall the 
Lyft app.

Hi Kitty,

 

I just tried to set up a ride so that I could add a stop and see if I could 
answer your question. Well low and behold, I got a ride in 2 minutes, so I had 
to quickly cancel it. Now I am a bit shy to try it again.

 

At this point unless someone else on the list has added a stop recently, you 
should probably try help on the website or try the address supp...@lyft.com.

Hi Kitty,

 

I haven’t added a stop in a while, and unfortunately I can’t test this because 
to add a stop you have to first pick your starting point and ending point and 
request the ride. Normally after you have requested a ride, you wait a bit and 
then you get a driver assigned. Either just before you get a driver assigned or 
right after, you will get the “add a stop” button. When you see it tap on it 
and you can request a stop. To finish there is a button of some sort on the 
screen to establish the stop addition. I remember you saying in the first email 
that you tapped on the “back“ button.  No you don’t want to hit the back 
button, just an “add” or “confirm” button. I can’t remember what it is called. 
(Of course who knows with every app update they seem to change stuff and 
sometimes slightly break it.)

 

Sorry I can’t be more specific! I even looked in the help on my phone and there 
doesn’t seem to be any information on adding a stop.

Hi Michael, I have done all that, but I can’t find numbers, a place to change 
to numbers or even a dictate button.  The only thing I can find with voice over 
is the fields requesting info.  Single finger double tapping on the field only 
seems to move the cursor to the end or beginning of field.

Hi. I've used both Uber and Lyft. Lyft seems to be cheaper over time
and does not have as many surge pricing times as Uber does, where the
price is raised due to high demand of other riders. If you have promos
or discounts on your Lyft account, the price you see is the before
discounted price. For instance, if I have a 50% discount on my
account, and I see an $8 price, then that is the before discount price
and my actual price would be $4. Prices tend to fluctuate a little,
but that is how Lyft is supposed to work I believe. For Uber, the
price you see is the after discount price, so in the prior example I
would see the $4 price before making my trip request. I haven't gotten
a discount from either Uber or Lyft in quite a while. There was a time
when I got discounts once a week from one or both services. I think
discounts you get depend on how much you use their services.

A quick follow up question. When you look up a price and they are running a 
special is the quoted price the after discount price? I just looked up the rate 
for both Uber and Lyft to my local commuter rail station and Lyft was literally 
almost 2.00 more but if this is the post discount price. Lyft will not be 
considered for my upcoming trips.

rarely use ride share so just pondering my options as Lyft is about to have a 
discount starting on the first of the month which just happens to be when I 
need use of ride share. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I only use Lyft. The fares do fluctuate a little between peak and non-peak 
times. My experience has been the fluctuation is related to the time of day you 
are traveling as opposed to giving riders a promotion, then raising the prices.

Good Morning Folks

 

A couple of Lyft related questions for those who use Lyft and even better yet 
both Lyft and Uber. First question is that Lyft often do discounts do you 
notice that a particular fare that is normally a certain price suddenly goes up 
during those promotions?  Second do you find that either one of these tends to 
be cheaper than the other or do you find them pretty much par.  I have a need 
to use ride share for approximately a week while my wife is in Europe and I 
rarely use ride share so just pondering my options as Lyft is about to have a 
discount starting on the first of the month which just happens to be when I 
need use of ride share. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I submitted a request via their help centre and received a confirmation email, 
here is the address, you could try to send an email directly to that and see if 
it works, but it may not:

The process of submitting a request online (I used the link to their Help 
Centre provided in the “this email is inactive” which you said you also 
received was not too difficult with Jaws.

change, and on that payment screen there is an option to choose your tip

No you have the option you can tip in cash if you wish, or you can do it 
through the app they will send you an email after your trip is done and at that 
point in time you can do the tip in the app if you wish.

I'm fairly certain it's under the driving directions section of the app, but 
I’m going off of memory. Punch in the start and end locations you you need and 
select from among the various options, transit, driving, walking, ride share, 
etc.

The website Ride Guru: https://ride.guru/ can also give you estimates on fares

destination addresses. I have this URL saved to one of my iPhone's homescreens 
for quick and easy access.

Proceed with caution. On one Web review, the author wrote, One frustrating
problem with Lyft is that it's impossible to predict how much a ride will
cost. 

And, yes, in some areas they work through donations. That means the app may
suggest a donation amount. That's supposed to be an amount you can change,
but you risk having a very unhappy driver. In turn that unhappy driver can
give you a negative review or rating which can then have you locked out of
the system. That means you can't continue to use the service.

As it stands now, a traveler might get a negative review from a driver for
valid or invalid reasons. For example, a driver might be unhappy that
someone might have a guide dog. Again, the negative review could get you
locked out of the system and unable to take rides. Since these services are
unregulated, you don't have much recourse.

Some have had good experiences, but these services are new and unregulated.

I wish it would come to more of Wisconsin. I wonder how the prices of rides 
compare to regular cabs, which in many areas, can be a $20 minimum each way

Hi, you can write lyft support and ask for an estimate of the charge.  I did
that.  Also, you can tip them if you want or not.

I downloaded the app since it claims to have drivers in our area. I did not
log into the app though. I read their terms of agreement and their help
section. I can't say that I understand at all what the charges will be. It
seems as though they are marketing this as sort of a community. However,
outside of California, it seems as though the drivers can suggest a donation
for the ride but it is up to us if we want to give more. I don't understand
this very well at all. So, does that mean all drivers will request a
slightly different donation? I'm confused. Also, if I request a drive, will
I know ahead of time before I commit to the ride, what the requested
donation/charge is? Or is the whole donation discussion in their terms of
agreement just talk but every driver in a particular area outside of
California will charge the same fees? Maybe somebody here can clear this all
up for me. :)
