Do you use Windows 10 or are you still on Windows 7? If Windows 10, then which
version of iCloud did you install, there is a desktop version and a Windows
Store
more or less
accessible.
I should mention that I use Jaws, I have no idea how well it would work with
NVDA.

Actually I downloaded iCloud via the Windows Store and it is somewhat
accessible there. Jaws reads the checkboxes as you tab and you can use the
touch cursor as well.

I agree iCloud let's you share things in the cloud between multiple
devices, but it isn't necessary for some of the things you've mentioned.
For example, contacts and calendar events can just be synced using
Exchange or other protocols. You don't need iCloud to sync these items
