Hi,
This may sound crazy, but I have two suggestions for you to try. First, try
changing the ring tone from the phone's contacts tab and compare that to using
the contacts app directly. If that doesn't work, my second suggestion is to be
certain you didn't accidentally use the email field for
Thank you, seems turning the phone off and on again helped; I looked in the
contacts app itself and this time it showed the ringtone option—a strange kwirk
that fixed itself.
Thank you.

Yes, the iPhone is a computer. Like all computers, it occasionally needs to be
turned off and then on again in order to fully refresh its RAM. People who say
this is never necessary do not understand how computer RAM memory works. Even
large network servers must be rebooted every few months.
Alan, although I have not checked on all of them; the contact that got me
noticing this does have an area code, my uncle in California; I would have to
dial an area code to reach him.
Good thought though; unfortunately it doesn’t solve this particular problem. I
know that you probably need the
I have not seen this issue. If I hit edit on a contact, there is a default
ringtone option.
If I have already set a ringtone other than default, the ringtone is shown

and turn it back on? Sometimes that can fix little weird issues. My other
question would be how you sync your contacts. Are
I will try the on and off thing; generally I add them in manually though if
that helps.

Hi Paul,

Did the numbers some numbers not have an area code associated with the phone
numbers? I always add the area code for all my contacts so I can call them no
matter where I'm at and I believe this year you will be required to always call
10 digits even for local calls. It doesn't effect my
All, I was rearranging information, trying to set default ringtones for a few
contacts, and I noticed that some had “notes” as an option where ringtone would
normally be. It did not matter if these numbers were iPhones, other mobile
numbers, home phones, or main numbers.
Can anyone explain
