FaceTime audio sharing VoiceOver

2023-01-15 Thread Shai
Hello,
I suspect that the answer to this question will be that this is not
possible at this time; however, I am thinking that this feature should
be possible especially because of something like shareplay on FaceTime
calls.
I am working with a student remotely via FaceTime audio and beginning
to teach them how to use VoiceOver.
Other than them having another iOS device for which to have VoiceOver
audio transmitted so that one can hear what they are doing, is there a
means of outputting this audio to a FaceTime audio call?
Thank you in advance for any responses.

Mark,

Have you ever participated in clubhouse discussions using headphones in the
last year? Clubhouse uses spatial audio. I find the experience offers a level
of intimacy and personal connection never before experienced digitally.

RE: A Question about Facetime Audio Output in iOS16.2: It is Different than on other Apps

2023-01-02 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Simon,

I am happy to let you know that, although the spatial results are the same
between what I am experiencing in Facetime and what you are experiencing in
various audio playback apps, in your circumstance, there is an easy solution.

Just do the following the next time you are playing back something from
Audible, etc.:

1.
Pause the playback on the audio in question.

2.
Open the control panel via a VoiceOver gesture.

3.
Single-finger tap and hold on the audio button. This will open a dialog box in
which you can disable spatial audio.

My steps may be a bit off as I have not performed this in 16.2 but it should be
the same as in previous versions of the OS.

Please give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Mark

Hi Mark,

Surprisingly it's jnot just a USA or iPHone 14 thing,

I have the air pods pro gen 1,
And my pods do a spacial weird thing from my iPHone 13 pro max and ios 16.2
when I'm on a phone call or listening to an audio book.

It's been annoying me since I updated to 16.2

Hello Everyone,

I have noticed that when making Facetime calls on my 14, via wired Apple
Earpods, the audio output is different than it is when I am listening to audio
anywhere else in the OS. The audio sounds is kind of spacial, or something.

This is not the case when making Facetime calls on my beloved 8 Plus running
iOS 15.x.

Has anyone else noticed this and, if so, is there a way to disable it? I am
not a huge fan of spacial audio, at least, not at this point.

All replies greatly appreciated.

iOS 15.x.

Has anyone else noticed this and, if so, is there a way to disable it? I am
not a huge fan of spacial audio, at least, not at this point.

All replies greatly appreciated.

A Question about Facetime Audio Output in iOS16.2: It is Different than on other Apps

2023-01-01 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I have noticed that when making Facetime calls on my 14, via wired Apple
Earpods, the audio output is different than it is when I am listening to
audio anywhere else in the OS. The audio sounds is kind of spacial, or
something.

This is not the case when making Facetime calls on my beloved 8 Plus running
iOS 15.x.

Has anyone else noticed this and, if so, is there a way to disable it? I am
not a huge fan of spacial audio, at least, not at this point.

All replies greatly appreciated.

Make sure the navigation style is set to flat. Or if it is there, try group;

2019-05-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It’s not so different from sending a text message to 2 or 3 recipients. Open
the Facetime app, tap on “Add” and start typing the name of the first person,
then when you find their name/number in the list (if you entered home, mobile
and email for them in Contacts make sure to pick Mobile), double tap on the
name. Now start typing the second name and double tap on it and so on. As you
double tap each name it appears in a list underneath the edit field where you
type and below that is a button for Audio and Video, once you are done adding
people just tap on either Audio or Video and the appropriate Facetime call is
going to start.

Hi,
My apologies you’re correct I meant 10.3.2 no matter how many years one has

most recent stable public version as I never put a beta on my main device.
My apologies for the lack of preciseness in describing.

  Hi,
Last night I had occasion to visit with a friend via facetime audio on my
iPhone 7Plus running iOS 10.3.3 I believe is the most recent version number.
And while doing this I observed some behavior with VoiceOver I’ve never
witnessed before. Suddenly while on this Facetime call whether I was in the
Facetime screen or anywhere else it mattered not I couldn’t get VoiceOver to
read my battery status at all. It could read other icons on the status like
such as cellular signal strength, wi-fi strength, the time but when I got
further towards that top right-hand corner it just said nothing at all and made
the clicking noise you sometimes hear when swiping through elements on screen.
Has anyone else ever seen anything like this and what on earth is the cause?
the person with whom I was chatting was on an iPhone 6 and had no issues
seeing his battery status. It is quite the curiosity. Thanks for any light you
could shed on this for me.
  Robin

Question About Facetime Audio and Battery Status

2017-06-30 Thread Robin Frost
Hi,
Last night I had occasion to visit with a friend via facetime audio on my
iPhone 7Plus running iOS 10.3.3 I believe is the most recent version number.
Has anyone else ever seen anything like this and what on earth is the cause?
the person with whom I was chatting was on an iPhone 6 and had no issues seeing
his battery status. It is quite the curiosity. Thanks for any light you could
shed on this for me.
Robin

  Hi all

Using an Iphone 6 with ios 10.0.2. When I go to a contact to phone a friend

options, I still only see the video call option. Am I missing something here,
or what must I do to be able to make the facetime audio call now? In prior
versions of ios there was a button clearly marked that way, making it possible
to choose between video call and audio call for facetime. What might I be
overlooking here? Any help appreciated.

Hi

No, I selected the contact, from the contacts app, then looking for
facetime, only saw the facetime video option and no facetime audio button.
Will have to look again, more carefully. Thanks for helping.

2013-10-08 Thread Ron Pelletier
Hi,

Find the contact you want to call, go to the phone number you want to call
and next to it there will be a button called Facetime voice. Just double
tap it. This only works if the person you are calling also has an iPhone.

Hi Sieghard,

You are right. I checked a few of my contacts and even the ones who don't
even have a smart phone have a FaceTime section with a FaceTime voice

As far as I can tell the Facetime section with the Facetime and Facetime

for that matter, whether they even have an iPhone or not.

 Hi Ray and Cory,

You can do a Facetime Audio Only call but both parties have to use
 iOS
7.
In iOS 7 there is an actual Facetime app which looks very much like
 the
Phone App but without a tab
for a keypad, but you can add people to a Favorites list either as a
Facetime Audio or Facetime
contact, of course you could add the same person twice just like you
 can
add somebody in the Phone
App with a Home and a Cell number.

Cory, if you initiate a Facetime call and then press the Home key to
 get
out of the screen or if you
lock the screen, I think the video still transmits, but it's sort of
 put
on hold for the other
person. I think Facetime Audio is one of the very nice new features of
 iOS
7, I use it with my Mom
who has an iPad 2 and a few other people and so far the quality has
 been
fantastic and it's nice
that I can just make an audio only call this way because it will, of
course, also use less data if
I'm on 3G than a normal Facetime call with video would.

 Regards,
 Sieghard

RE: facetime audio only?

2013-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Ray and Cory,

You can do a Facetime Audio Only call but both parties have to use iOS 7.
In iOS 7 there is an actual Facetime app which looks very much like the
Phone App but without a tab for a keypad, but you can add people to a
Favorites list either as a Facetime Audio or Facetime contact, of course you
could add the same person twice just like you can add somebody in the Phone
App with a Home and a Cell number.

Cory, if you initiate a Facetime call and then press the Home key to get out
of the screen or if you lock the screen, I think the video still transmits,
but it's sort of put on hold for the other person. I think Facetime Audio is
one of the very nice new features of iOS 7, I use it with my Mom who has an
iPad 2 and a few other people and so far the quality has been fantastic and
it's nice that I can just make an audio only call this way because it will,
of course, also use less data if I'm on 3G than a normal Facetime call with
video would.

Sieghard

RE: facetime audio only?

2013-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Ray,

If you go into a Contact by double tapping on said contact, you can do
anything from there. You can tap on any of the phone numbers you have for
that contact to call them, you can tap on their email address to start an
email or you can find the Facetime or Facetime Audio buttons to start a
Facetime or Facetime Audio only call.

If you want to call that contact a lot with Facetime audio it's easiest to
find the Add to Favorites button, tap on it and add them as a Facetime
Audio contact to your Favorites, you then go into the Facetime app and find
this person there and double tapping on their entry will start the Facetime
Audio call.

Subject: RE: facetime audio only?

Hi Ray and Cory,

You can do a Facetime Audio Only call but both parties have to use iOS

7.

In iOS 7 there is an actual Facetime app which looks very much like the

Phone App but without a tab

for a keypad, but you can add people to a Favorites list either as a

Facetime Audio or Facetime

contact, of course you could add the same person twice just like you can

add somebody in the Phone

App with a Home and a Cell number.

Cory, if you initiate a Facetime call and then press the Home key to get

out of the screen or if you

lock the screen, I think the video still transmits, but it's sort of put

on hold for the other

person. I think Facetime Audio is one of the very nice new features of iOS

7, I use it with my Mom

who has an iPad 2 and a few other people and so far the quality has been

fantastic and it's nice

that I can just make an audio only call this way because it will, of

course, also use less data if

I'm on 3G than a normal Facetime call with video would.

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: Question about FaceTime Audio

2013-09-29 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I don't understand the question. With Facetime now, just as with Skype,
you can place a video call or an audio only call. the audio only call
will have better audio, take up less bandwidth and won't include video,
which you may not want if you're getting dressed while on a call.

And the answer is, bandwidth. I would guess that if you make a Facetime
video call, you are going to chew up lots of data, where as with an
audio-only call you will not.

Good evening all.
Just used FaceTime Audio for the first time when friend and fellow list
member Hannah Day called me on it.
We freaked out initially because of how the audio comes through, which is
via the earpiece. The question therefore is this.
Is there any way at all of using FaceTime audio via speakerphone just like
cellular or normal FaceTime calls? If so how?
Any responses greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Question about FaceTime Audio

2013-09-28 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Right, but the question is why would you use Facetime Audio instead of
just Facetime, which includes video. The audio quality would be the same
in both cases. Again, I think it comes down to bandwidth and those times
when you just don't want to be on or mess with video.

Now I know how to do this I should grow into this very cool way of making
free, unlimited international calls over the internet.

Hi all,

Has any one run into the following: once an audio facetime call has been
established, VoiceOver goes silent. I can flick and explore what I want,
but

I hear no VO sounds, and VO does not speak as long as the audio facetime
call is still going on. Does any of you know what is happening, and is it
possible to have VO speak normally, as it does in a facetime video call?

Kind regards,

facetime audio and voiceover not speaking

2013-09-26 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi all,

Has any one run into the following: once an audio facetime call has been
established, VoiceOver goes silent. I can flick and explore what I want, but I
hear no VO sounds, and VO does not speak as long as the audio facetime call is
still going on. Does any of you know what is happening, and is it possible to
have VO speak normally, as it does in a facetime video call?

Kind regards,
Paul.

RE: facetime audio and voiceover not speaking

2013-09-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Paul and Sean,

I used Facetime Audio a few times on my 4S and even in the Beta (a friend of
mine also installed it back in August) this didn't seem to be an issue. I
just now tried it and did 2 Facetime Audio calls with 2 different people and
Voiceover worked fine for me, I was able to swipe around the screen, hear
all the buttons, double tap the Speakerphone button etc. I have no idea why
you would experience this, maybe just try to reboot your phone and see if
that helps.

Regards,
Sieghard

Question about FaceTime Audio

2013-09-26 Thread Chris H

Good evening all.
Just used FaceTime Audio for the first time when friend and fellow list
member Hannah Day called me on it.
We freaked out initially because of how the audio comes through, which
is via the earpiece. The question therefore is this.
Is there any way at all of using FaceTime audio via speakerphone just
like cellular or normal FaceTime calls? If so how?

Any responses greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: facetime audio and voiceover not speaking

2013-09-26 Thread Chris H
Hello all just tried FaceTime Audio myself and VoiceOver worked just
fine or be it distorted since it was routed to the earpiece not the
speaker. Now I know how to do this I should grow into this very cool way
of making free, unlimited international calls over the internet.
