You can use Face Id exactly in the same way as Touch Id to unlock your phone, open apps which have their own security or approve sign-ins or Apple Pay transactions. Re: But All I Wanted was Touch ID
For myself, I would rather have face ID then have touch ID on the back of the phone, which I think is stupid, or under the screen, where I have to guess at where the sensor might be. I thought Samsung had a good idea when they put it on the side button with the galaxy, was it the nine or the 10 the cheap one I think it was 10 year or something? That made some sense. Otherwise, I don’t see the issue with Face ID. My 10 R works fine. RE: But All I Wanted was Touch ID
Touch ID doesn't need to be associated with a home button. Android phones have touch ID sensors on the back of the phone or built into the power button. They also have finger print sensors under the screen. -- Christopher (AKA CJ) Chaltain at Gmail > -Original Message- > From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf > Of Carolyn > Sent: Thursday, October 15, 2020 5:45 PM > To: viphone@googlegroups.com > Subject: RE: But All I Wanted was Touch ID > > They removed Touch ID, because there is no Home Button on the newer model > phones, other than the SE, which has fingerprint ID. > > -Original Message- > From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On > Behalf Of Shirley Baker > Sent: Thursday, October 15, 2020 3:00 PM > To: viphone@googlegroups.com > Subject: Re: But All I Wanted was Touch ID > > > Why have they removed touch ID from the newer phones? > > > Sent from my iPhone > > > On Oct 15, 2020, at 1:08 PM, Devin Prater > wrote: > > > > > I'd definitely take TouchID back. Interestingly enough, apple announced a new iPad Air last month that will have touch ID built into the power button. I was really hoping they were going to do the same with at least one of the new iPhone 12 models. They removed Touch ID, because there is no Home Button on the newer model phones, other than the SE, which has fingerprint ID. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Shirley Baker Sent: Thursday, October 15, 2020 3:00 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: But All I Wanted was Touch ID Why have they removed touch ID from the newer phones? Re: But All I Wanted was Touch ID
I believe that people would like to have touch ID so that they can open their phone easier when they have to wear a mask. We all need to remember COVID-19 is still out there in all of us probably have to wear masks when we’re out and about. Face ID will not work very well when you have to wear a mask. I like touch because it's very easy. I've never had face ID so I can only take other people's wordAnother reason I like touch is that instead of entering your password on websites, you can just use touch ID. How easy is that.. I don't remember fingerprint ID ever not working, where, every now and then, I'm probably a little off or something, but facial won't, and I use passcode - have gotten fast at that too. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Michael Maslo Sent: Thursday, October 15, 2020 12:35 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: But All I Wanted was Touch ID Hello everyone, just out of curiosity why do people want finger print scan instead of facial ID? RE: But All I Wanted was Touch ID
For my part, I just find touch ID to be a bit more convenient then face ID. There are just those times when I don't need to hold the phone up to my face, like when I'm lying down or sitting at a table. My hand is already on the phone, since I have to touch the screen to interact with it, so it would be no big deal to use touch ID. With face ID though, I have to remember to then hold it up to my face, and since I didn't do it immediately, I may have to do it more then once or just resort to entering my PIN. I don't hate face ID, and I wouldn't avoid buying a phone just because it didn't have touch ID, but with all things being equal, I'd go with a phone that supported touch ID. -- Christopher (AKA CJ) Chaltain at Gmail > -Original Message- > From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf > Of Michael Maslo > Sent: Wednesday, October 14, 2020 11:35 PM > To: viphone@googlegroups.com > Subject: Re: But All I Wanted was Touch ID > > Hello everyone, just out of curiosity why do people want finger print scan > instead of facial ID? > > Sincerely, > > Michael maslo > > > On Oct 14, 2020, at 20:05, M. RE: But All I Wanted was Touch ID
Both would be nice, but Apple always does what Apple does, they will release a feature when they are good and ready and for the most part it will then be very well done. Who brought Touch Id to phones, it was Apple and the same goes for Face Id. Yes, some Android phones may offer both, but I wouldn't be surprised that when Apple does offer both it may very well work just a bit better than on most other phones. I am surprised nobody at all mentioned the fact that two products which got talked up before and which were expected did not make it all, Apple Studio headset and Apple Air Tags. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Julian Sent: Wednesday, October 14, 2020 9:54 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: But All I Wanted was Touch ID In a word, masks. hi Simon, Perhaps I should have been a little clearer. I am meant in terms of these non-touch ID phones as far as good battery life and overall best bang for the buck. Obviously, if a newer flag ship model included touch ID I would no longer say that about the iPhone XR. RE: But All I Wanted was Touch ID
You're disappointed at the 12 range not having touch id, But you think the xr is the best phone they've produced, I didn't think the XR had touch ID either? Isn't it a face id device? -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Julian Sent: Thursday, 15 October 2020 3:08 pm To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: But All I Wanted was Touch ID Hello, I was also similarly disappointed when there was not going to be touch ID in this year's iPhone. I thought for sure that since the iPad Air was getting touch ID if you have the power button that surely at least one of the iPhone 12 models would also include it. I guess I'll be spending another year with my iPhone XR which I agree is Apple's best phone to date. they have made mention of an SE3 coming early next year which would feature a 6.1 inch screen and retain the touch ID. I can't imagine how large the phone would be since there's going to be a home button, but probably the same size at the pro max. On 10/14/2020 8:05 PM, M. It's almost enough to make me leave the Apple orchard; but not quite.
