Re: DirecTV Now app

2019-01-31 Thread Amy Johnson
I have direct tv now and as you say the guide doesn't read good at
all. I kind of get around this by going to networks and choosing a
channel and selecting on now. Otherwise I just go underwatch now and
see whats on channels I've watched recently. I recently got a fire tv
and find the guid and everything works much better than on apple tv.

1st, yes the 2nd thing you here is what is up next. 2nd, to add things to your
watch list, you can do this 2 ways. You can either search for a show, and do

Keep in mind, it has to be available for the watch list or that option won’t be

Re: directv now

2016-11-30 Thread Mary Otten
What on earth are you talking about, Donald? The FCC? All the FCC has question
is the unlimited use of this new service if you are an ATT mobile customer
while you are using AT And they should question it. It's unfair competition.
But I'm talking about the introductory price offer for $35 you get the $60
channel bundle. The FCC has nothing to do with that. But with the channel names
being in accessible, and what with having over 100 channels, well it's an
accessibility problem. Certainly no sighted person would ever put up with such
a thing, but it's expected that we do.

I tried using the "support" link on the iTunes Store page and got a very
unhelpful page not found. Not too good. There is a search box there where you
can "ask a question". My question about VoiceOver return no results. No
surprise. If anyone finds a way to actually contact them to complain about the
crappy excess ability, I hope you will post the address here.

as for accessibility, with a little playing around, you can learn how to
navigate. You can scroll up and down, the channels aren’t labeled like in
sling TV, but if you swipe to the right, it will tell you what is currently on,
and if you swipe down, it will tell you what is up coming. Most don’t like
that you have to work with apps like this, but what can you do except deal with

2016-11-30 Thread Daniel Miller
The app has some terrible accessibility issues right now. Channel names are
inaccessible, plus various other things. Not impressed at all.

Re: directv now

2016-11-30 Thread Kliphton Miller
There is an app for both phone and appleTV
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/directv-now/id1136238277?mt=8

as for accessibility, with a little playing around, you can learn how to
navigate. You can scroll up and down, the channels aren’t labeled like in
sling TV, but if you swipe to the right, it will tell you what is currently on,
and if you swipe down, it will tell you what is up coming. Most don’t like
that you have to work with apps like this, but what can you do except deal with
it until enough people contact them to fix the issues. I signed up for the 3
month per motion, and my appleTV4 should be here before christmas.

However, if the site is any indecation as to how accessible the app is
for the Apple tv, we may be in for some difficult times.

I have waited for this to happen for a while now. I've been excited
about it. I even checked a little after midnight, to see if the site was
 ready. LOL!

I can't seem to get signed up. I can put my email address in, create a
password, but that's as far as I seem to get.

Supposedly there is a capcha, but it never opens. Also, I believe you
are supposed to agree to their terms, and such. But there is no checkbox
to be able to do this.

Also, when there was an area that showed stuff possibly playing
currently, it was out of order, and diidn't match up with the stations
the shows should have been playing on.

I tried using Firefox. But according to the site, my version of Firefox
is not up to date. I'm not sure what version of Firefox I am currently
using, but I thought it was up to date.

Also, I tried to chat live, but it never seemed to connect to anyone. So
maybe this feature isn't available. Maybe currently there is nobody to
chat with. I just don't know.

I tried to find a number to tech support. But whenever I call a number,
it wants an account number. I can't get past this.

Also, I have looked for the app in the app store. I have tried entering
different things. But I have come up with nothing.

If anyone has a better experience, and manages to get signed up, please
 let us know.

If I figure it out, I will let you all know.

 Thank you,

 Terri

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your help with this. I really do appreciate it. I was
thinking of using sufarie, but hadn't gotten there.

Now all of my information has been entered, even my payment info and
such. I have already received 2 emails from Direct Tv.

However, it wants a capcha. There is a text field, but I cant seem to
open it. I have tried multiple times. Also, the audio challenge button
is dimmed.

How did you deal with this issue, or did you not have it?

Thank you,

Terri

Re: directv now

2016-11-30 Thread Daniel Miller
Hi. I managed to get signed up using my iPhone. The sign up process was 100%
accessible. As far as watching anything on the site, I haven't tried that yet.
The apps also aren't out yet, give that time. And also, just because a website
accessibility for these types of things is bad does it mean the app it will be.
They use the plug-in called silver light by Microsoft, which isn't the best for
making that type of content accessible. It's just as bad in my opinion as flash
is. Fire fox is not supported at this time. You need to use chrome, Internet
Explorer, or safari. They recommend chrome for the best experience.
