Re: Question about contacts

2020-07-05 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi,
Go into settings, then double tap on your name. Now go to iCloud. Double tap on
that. Now swipe right and make sure that contacts is on. Hope this helps. Also,
do you have contacts in your phone app?

I don’t have any group. When I open contacts I only find no contacts and my

Re: Question about contacts

2014-05-31 Thread Christopher J Chaltain
The groups button has been in the Contacts app for as long as I've had
my phone, going back to IOS 5. It's how you manage contacts from
different sources, such as Outloud, Google, iCloud and so on. It isn't
for creating your own groups of contacts. Maybe it's only recently been
added to the Contacts tab in the Phone app.

What do you mean? You can see them all in the list, though, of course, only a
few at a time (there's no way to fit sixty on the iPhone's screen). Like any
list of items, you can flick through them one at a time, or scroll the page by
flicking three fingers up or down. You can also use the search box at the top
of the list, or navigate by heading to jump from letter to letter. Finally, on
the right edge of the screen, you'll find a table index that lets you flick
one finger up or down to the letter you want. Touch the middle of the screen
and you should find yourself on the list of contacts, centered on the chosen
letter.

RE: Question about contacts

2014-05-30 Thread DJ
Strange, I haven't been able to create groups. I listened to a podcast
demonstrating how to do it but I found no groups option. Is there something
I need to do to make it happen?

I can see all my contacts. Make sure if you have groups set up such as
iCloud that they're all showing. Easy fix would be to double tap groups then
double tapp all contacts.

Re: Question about contacts

2014-05-30 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Also, touch the table index, and after it says table index adjustable, double
tap and hold anywhere on the screen. While holding, slide your finger up and
down to get to the letter you want, then remove your finger. It sometimes ends
up on the letter just before, or after, the one you want. Swipe up or down
with one finger to get to the one you want. If you have to swipe up or down
with one finger because it didn't get to the letter you wanted, you have to do
this relatively quickly after the double tap and hold maneuver, or the table
index will close. Just touch it again to reactivate it. Knowing how to use
this table index, in combination with the three-singer swipe up and down, is
vary useful in really long lists, such as in the music player if you have a lot
of songs or albums.

2014-05-30 Thread Christopher J Chaltain
These are not user created groups. You'll have one group for your
contacts on Google, another for those local on your iPhone, another for
those in iCloud, one for those in Facebook and so on. To create your own
groups then you'll need a 3rd party app.

Re: Question about contacts

If you already have an entry in your contacts then just start typing the
contact. If you now swipe right from the to field, you'll have a list of
matching contacts. Just double tap the contact you want, and it'll be
placed above the to field. The more you type the more the list will be
narrowed down.

1. I do not have viphone as a contact, yet when I begin typing the address it will
invariably show up under the to field and it is put into that field when I
double tap on it. If I don't have viphone in my contacts for my phone, where is it so the
phone knows it to show me? How can I see the addresses like this?

2. How can I put an email address or number for a text into the to field from
my phone contacts if it does not show up under the field to double tap or I want to put
another address into the email?

Hi, you have a gmail account, gmail remembers sent addresses, so it will
fill this information in even if you don't have it as a contact.

Hi Keith,

Once you turn off this feature to add people you reply to to your contacts, you
have to delete those you don’t want somewhere, either on the computer or on the
phone. It’s probably easier and faster to do so in Outlook and once you go
through your list and delete all those you want they should also disappear on
your iPhone because if you setup an Exchange account whatever changes you make
on the PC should sync to your iPhone. If not just delete the account off your
iPhone and then set it up again, once again, if it’s exchange it will just
resync with the server.

Sieghard

Hello, all. I posted this a few days ago but didn’t get an answer, so here goes
again.

I have nearly 1,000 contacts on my phone, primarily because I have an Exchange
account with MS Outlook and have Outlook set to put people I reply to in my
Contacts. I plan to change this.

However, I can’t figure out a way to get rid of all of the Outlook contacts
from my phone, unless I go in and delete one at a time. Does anyone have a
better idea? I know that I need to get rid of at least 800 contacts.

Re: Question About Contacts

2012-12-03 Thread Bill Gallik
You can do this quite conveniently by saving your list of PC contacts off to a
non-functional folder, deleting all contacts you don’t want on your phone from
the active contact list on your PC and then syncing.

The trick is to make certain the folder or file that holds your PC contacts has
a recent time stamp so any changes on the PC will be treated as the correct
data. This way, any entries on the iPhone that are in the “new” contact
location on your PC get deleted. At least that’s what I did with my Windows
Mail (Outlook Express) contact list and it worked flawlessly.

I am sure I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round --
apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything
belonging to it can be apart from that -- as a good time; a kind, forgiving,
charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the
year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts
freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were
fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on
other journeys. And therefore, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of gold
or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me
good; and I say, God bless it!'

Re: Question About Contacts

2012-12-03 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, just as a friendly reminder that if you post something to the list
and no one responds it could mean that no one has an answer for you. If
that is the case, then usually a Google search will turn up an answer
and maybe you could share it with the group so we are all more educated.
For example, I did a search on this problem and the below links are what
I came up with.

Hope that helps.
