RE: problem with deleting text messages

2022-09-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I am not sure why this is, I have received a couple of messages which were not
in my contacts and I could delete them as always, flick down to delete and
double tap it, the I was asked if I really wanted to do that and once I
confirmed that was it, no message or prompt to report them as spam or anything
like that.

My problem is that I receive lots of text messages from my volunteer work. I
can’t and I don’t want to put these numbers in my contacts.
Before this update I deleted them delete, but now I have to tap once more to
not report as junk. They are lots and lots, more time consuming and more pain
in my finger.

I just did this on my 13 pro.

  1. Deleting a message from someone in my contacts acted the same as always.
  2. Deleting one from a number not in my contacts, offered the usual delete
button, then popped up the you can report this as junk message, I flicked right
to don’t report and double tapped.

Yes, that adds a layer, but it doesn’t seem that difficult and it is a nice
feature if you are dealing with junk/spam text messages.

There is nothing new in settings to deal with this.

If you don’t like it, I suggest writing to Apple Accessibility and request the
ability to turn that on or off, or have a checkbox to never ask me again.

2022-09-15 Thread Carolyn
Thank goodness, Jim was here and able to help me. Otherwise, I have no idea in
the world what a solution would have been.

I think they surely will work some of these bugs out pretty soon, especially if
enough of us bug them. I might try to find out where to email my complaint
about the Voiceover problem I'm having while on a phone call. So, if I need to
give a phone number to someone, I have to struggle to hear anything in my
contacts to try to find the contact, and then the number.

Carolyn, You will need a sighted person to enter your phone passcode for you.
Some people have reported once they regain access to their phone changing their
passcode the no voiceover on the lock screen after powering off the phone goes
away. Others still continue to have the problem with no voiceover speech after
powering off their phone. I have opted not to use a passcode, this includes
face & fingerprint ID, which both require a passcode after a power off of the
device. Hopefully, Apple will release a fix to this very annoying bug in the
coming week or two.

Donna, one possible fix when the phone won't talk is to connect to your
computer. Once Itunes opens and settles, go to your phone and then to
accessibility options. if they are on, switch then of and on again.

Also, try cursing and swearing!

Rena, my understanding about all that is that it will ask you that only if they
are not in your contacts. If they are in your contacts, it shouldn’t ask you
that.

RE: problem with deleting text messages

2022-09-15 Thread Richard Turner

In the previous version, it didn’t ask me this question. I just deleted them.

Now, besides having to delete one by one, I have to tap several times to get
rid of each message. Perhaps there is a way in settings, but I don’t know much
yet.

Thanks for the suggestion but I’ve tried that to no avail.I have now managed to remove it by launching Messages and double tapping Edit.Double tapping Recent Messages and deleting the conversation from there.  Once the conversation was deleted the particular message went too.I have never had this issue before but hope this explanation may help someone.Malcolm ParfittOn 15 Sep 2022, at 15:53, regina alvarado wrote:I had this problem with a message to. And remember there is now a recently deleted when deleting conversations
from the messages app. You'll find this by hitting the edit button at
the top left part of the screen. You can delete all messages or
individual conversations. It retains them for 30 days just like the
photos app.

Rena, my understanding about all that is that it will ask you that
only if they are not in your contacts. If they are in your contacts,
it shouldn’t ask you that.
