I am an IT guy so I know never to download software from
e-mails that I
didn't expect to receive, so could someone please tell me if
it is possible to
install this VNC software without me knowing about it (no one
never uses this
computer). What other ways can I check to see if my

The most likely reason for no-one having suggested any solutions to your
problem is that you have not described it. You mention problems

In the latest mail, you state that no connections can be made to the
server, then

I have read that when you bring up the logon screen to log in to Windows 2000
this could cause a change in screen resolution and disconnect vnc but is there
a solution for this? When I tried to connect to the remote computer which is
already displaying the logon screen it displays the message

Yes, the window name and class are hard-coded at the moment, which is a bit
nasty. I'll add a -name option in the next release. If you're happy
recompiling from source you can easily change the res_name line above to
be:
classHint.res_name = (char*)name;
That will mean you can at least
If you use VNC 4 at both ends of the connection then a resolution change
won't cause a disconnect.
Under Windows 2000, a resolution change at that stage is very unlikely
anyway, and wouldn't cause the error you describe. The error you
describe indicates that the server isn't even accepting
Hi, I'm new to this list but I've been a happy user of VNC for a couple of
years, never had a problem. I recently was looking for a more reliable (less
timeouts, etc...) version of VNC and found the RealVNC site and a beta
download of their latest program, V4.0b4.
I installed the beta version on

Can't help you with the problem, but..
Have you seen the Ultravnc version?
It's more windows orientated, which
is probably what you are looking for

the problem is about cutpaste from a VNC server running on a solaris
machine to a viewer running on a winXP pc.. Nothing happens when I
