Anyone else having trouble with the Sims 3 launching? I had no issues, but then
downloaded the most recent update, and since Sims 3 will not launch. I am
running 10.8.4 on a Macbook Pro.
I have installed and reinstalled the program and still no luck.
Help?

The only complaint seems to be noise, but how noisy are they ?

scroll bar that is absent, but the pair of little pointer icons, 1 up and 1
down that we used to have, either both on one end of the scroll bar track or

System Preferences - Accessibility. Click onto Mouse Trackpad.
Click on Trackpad Options….
You'll see a setting there Scrolling with inertia. Untick that and try it as
well.
If it's not ticked, it won't scroll as fast. - which is a bit of the older
way.

I do understand your frustration; unfortunately I can't see Apple bringing the
Scroll Arrows back in OS. The next OS Mavericks 10.9 will be more iOS than
Mountain Lion.
