Hi
Being a MYOB user since the early 80's, I was dismayed the other week to find a
problem with the internet re-registering of the program. Every so often (about
4 months I think) the program needs to contact head office via the internet to
prove that it's legal, or alternatively I believe you
Hi Curtis,
I have had the same problem since upgrading to the MYOB 9.6 - I have
over the past few years had to call in to re-register and I am still
using Leopard, so I doubt if it has anything to do with the fact you
are using Lion. It would appear, as you say, a problem of their making.
Hi Jewels
It was the guy at MYOB who said it was caused by Lion, I personally don't know
what the cause is/was. Either way, it's their problem, not mine.

Hi again Walter
Your accountant only needs to get it (if he hasn't already got it) if
you decide to upgrade to AE v11.
If you are happy with v7, then just stick with it. He quite likely
has Accounting Plus/Premier v17 which can access your data file.
There may come a time when the

I have clients who use MYOB for PC, whereas I use MYOB for Mac. At
the moment, there
is no problem opening the files backwards and forwards after
completing their bookkeeping
requirements. However, I understand that with the new version of MYOB

Hi Jewels
If you are not already a Partner with MYOB, as Bookkeeper or Certified
Consultant, the I would suggest that you become one. As a
Bookkeeping Partner, the cost is not onerous I am fairly certain
that you get access to the latest releases as they are released. You

Hi Walter
Definitely worth the initial outlay - in that way you are compatible
to all.

Hi Walter
The latest version of AccountEdge, v11, is not compatible with any
Windows version of MYOB AccountRight. The cross platform
compatibility ended with AE v9.x / AR v19.x.
However, MYOB have provided a Windows programme, AccountEdge Partner
Edition v11, for their partners, ie
Hi Alex,
That's interesting.
Perhaps I should suggest to the accountant to obtain that
Partner edition V11.
Thanks for you info.

Hi Darrel, Bob and Stuart,
Thanks for your suggestions.
Maybe I should talk to MYOB and hopefully they will still support
AccountEdge V7.
Thanks again,

Hi Walter,
Not sure if I can be of any use, but I use MYOB 9.6 for Mac and when I
pass on to the accountant who uses PC,
I give him a copy of the zipped version.. The accountant always uses
the up to date copy of MYOB for PC and
has no hassles opening, changing and then returning to me in
Dear Walter,
My accountant told me I had to have Windows for MYOB so I ran it on
Windows XP using Parallels Desktop.
I now understand that if you send your accountant the data off your
Mac it should be read by their copy of MYOB.
Kind regards, Bob

Dear Walter,
Hi all,
Can a MYOB datafile (Account Edge version 7) created on 10.4.11 be easily
converted
to Windows so the accountant can work with it ? (only once at the end of
fin/year).
Thanks,
Walter

Hi Walter,
Yes; I just send mine as a data file and my accountant can open it and
modify/amend it.
He might have some MYOB software at his office which lets him do this, but I
don't know.
Also other accountants can do the same.

Darrel
