 If units are back on the way to their patrol line, they usually commit
 suicide if they're attacked (by staying totally passive under fire). There
 is the conflicting use case that the user might want to save the
 ammonition until the patrol line is reached. Bringing both cases (passive
 flying and active flying to the patrol line) together requires redesign of
 patrol routes in my opinion (e.g. add behavior for every part of the
 path).

 I'm running Win8 now and decided to install the latest version (3.1.1) and
 start a new campaign from scratch. I was playing the first mission,
 created a new Flamer Viper Wheels, saved the game to fiddle with
 resolutions, and when I came back, my new unit wasn't listed in the
 factory. However, it is still listed in the Design window. This time I
 tried deleting all the unit designs and recreated them. They were visible
 in the Factory window until I saved, fully exited the game, and then
 restarted the game and reloaded my save. Then they were gone again. All of
 them. The designs show up in the factory until I restart the game. While
 they are visible, I can successfully build them, and units that were
 already built are still there when I reload.

 So, whatever the problem is only affects user-created designs.

 I tried completely uninstalling the game, deleted the Warzone 2100 folder
 from my Documents folder, and then reinstalled it again, with the same
 result. I also tried running the game as an admin and compatibility mode
 for Win7 with the same result. Lastly I checked the templates.ini file for
 my saved game and my Flamer Viper Wheels design is indeed listed in there.

 This may be related to an existing bug report that says unit designs
 vanish after reloading a Skirmish game.

 Very often, shortly after loading a savegame (within a minute or so, often
 much less), I get an error message that reads:

 [scrValDefLoad:1073] Sound ID not available  not found

 It looks similar to [ticket:3686], except in my case it doesn't crash the
 game (and I'm running on Windows, not Linux).

 As it keeps happening, I tried to hunt it down. Loaded the save (and game)
 many times to see if there was some pattern, but I couldn't really see
 anything obvious. Maybe there is a sound that plays shortly after loading
 a save that there are problems with?

 Sometimes the error message came when having zoomed in to the bombards and
 selecting one of them. Other times when having the screen over the units
 further south. One time it happened when I selected the right-most AA unit
 in the south. Other times it happened although I didn't do anything
 besides load the game, so this previous paragraph may not really be
 connected, it's just what I was doing at the time of the error message
 popping up.

 It doesn't seem to have any ill effects besides printing an error message
 to the screen, and possible not playing a sound; the game doens't crash or
 anything like that, and I can continue playing. It does sometimes occur
 again later, but usually not.

 appropriate)

 Editing an existing template in the design view causes it to disappear
 from the menu when attempting to produce new units with factories. New
 designs do not show up at all. Looking at the save files, the templates
 that do not show up somehow have enabled=false while the templates that
 appear have enabled=true.

 This only happens after saving the game and reloading it. While the game
 is running, new templates and edited existing templates are perfectly
 usable. However, after saving the game, restarting the program, and
 loading it again, the edited templates and the new templates are not
 available to manufacture, even though they show up in design view.

 I have attached a savegame which has this issue. Two templates are already
 unusable; new ones will become unusable after saving and reloading, while
 simply clicking on existing templates will cause them to be edited and
 will also become unusable after saving and reloading.

 This is on git head which doesn't appear to have change for some months.

 I built WZ with -fsanitise=address and gcc 4.8.2 on Fedora Core 20 Linux
 64bit.  I have an Nvidia GF119M [NVS 4200M] card.

 The sanitiser dropped me out of a game to complain about a use-afer free.
 The output did not include symbols so I loaded the warzone binary into gdb
 and worked them out.

 The problem happens at src/hci.cpp:1123

 Hi again... @ the person who closed the ticket 4203 before...read better
 before closing: IN OLDER VERSIONS IT WAS POSSIBLE TO DO SO. I asked in IRC
 and I was told it is a bug and I should open a ticket. So please fix it.

 Resolution: This isn't a bug, this is a feature request, and those belong

 And i always said we have only two threads ...
 Could somebody have a look, just in case?
 I'm not good with threads and sync stuff.

 The semaphore was only supposed to be unlocked every
 `GAME_TICKS_FOR_DANGER` ticks, but time is never saved.

 The extra workload was heavy enough to show up in `perf top`.
 Seems to win around 1.5fps on my machine on a large map.

 Patch for -`bugfixes`.

 Trying to speed up code testing a bit I created a savegame to test the
 movment system.
 Now I wanted to load it from the commandline with `warzone2100
 --savegame=shuffle_test` however it seems as if this commandline option
 was not tested for a long time...

 Most important information first: '''the savegame loads fine when loaded
 from the regular loading screen.'''

 First error I get is that the savegame cannot be found.
   The reason for this is in line 567 of clpars.cpp

   Here the path is (I guess) out of date.

   The result of this string formation is in my case
   `savegames//shuffle_test`
   but should be
   `savegames/skirmish/shuffle_test.gam`

   so either one should change --savegame's value here

   from 'NAME' to '{skirmish | campaign}/NAME.gam' and change `%s/%s` to
 `%s%s`
   or make a dynamic name lookup...
   the former is probably easier and also my solution :D
   With `warzone2100 --savegame=skirmish/shuffle_test.gam` the program now
 finds the savegame.

 Second error I get is that Nexus AI was not found.
   The reason for this is near main.cpp:1300

   maybe it's better to rename it?)

   So I put `startTitleLoop()` at the beginning of `initSaveGameLoad()` to
 have all this initialization stuff and also this problem is solved
   (same if I just put `readAIs()` there instead of `startTitleLoop()` but
 due to the other initialization stuff I prefer it otherwise)

 Current error (and probably not the last one) is a tougher one and (at the
 moment) I can't deal with it.

 On skirmish maps, asking units to destroy a feature (a tree, for instance)
 will cause these units to move somewhere else entirely (and make it almost
 impossible to destroy features).
 Investigation showed that conversion from ini to json in feature.ini/json
 of the skirmish maps puts a wrong value in the 'id' field, which leads to
 the game associating the id '0' to all features, and then whenever a unit
 is ordered to attack a feature, it tries to find its target by id and
 takes the first one that matches.

 In the case of structures (from struct.json), there is a check in the
 loading code which prevents from assigning a 0 id to the loaded structures
 (game.cpp:4797), and it uses instead the id generated by the object
 constructor.

 So this bug could be fixed by either putting the same check in features
 loading (game.cpp:5414), which might or might not be the right thing to
 do, or fixing the conflict on the id field in the conversion scripts
 (ini2json_save.py, if I'm not mistaken) and re-running the conversion.

 when i kick someone in lobby, then no one can join my game.
 I kick mister X, then Z,Y,F etc see the text you've been kicked and
 can't join, but i did not kick them.
 I tried this with Berg and Fabio.I kicked Fabio. Then Berg tried to leave
 and rejoin. He can't.He read that he was kicked, even if he wasn't.

  We can't solve it. I searched for BAN LIST and i found in log files that
 only FABIO was kicked, but the game kicked other players autmatically
 (SHCAMAN in this case) with this reason:

 Most player not read forums or visit IRC, the only source of information
 for them is lobby. Again in most case players ignore MOTD or they cant
 read/know english. So far the the lobby page shows games hosted only for
 current version due to filter enabled by default. From my point of view,
 it make switching to newer version much slower. It would be nice if lobby
 shows games hosted by newer versions too.

 Mint 17.1 repos contain the rc candidate not the 3.1.1 that worked fine
 for me. Now with the RC version I cannot connect to server. I do not get
 any error message at the server that I could not connect and I am not
 listed in the server.

 I checked if port 2100 was being used and found that WZ wants to use ipv6
 instead of ipv4. I have ipv6 disabled but still cannot get WZ to use ipv4.
 Therefore, I cannot connect to server.

 tcp6   0  0 :::2100 :::*LISTEN

 Previous version 3.1.1 seemed to work fine. Perhaps Im missing something
 here but I think its a bug?

 So I was trying to host a game of Warzone 2100, and the version I have
 (listed as summary) is 3.1.1 built: Dec 13, 2013. I downloaded the
 3.1.1rc2 (or whichever one the Revenge of the VTOLs is). If that version
 was downloaded, then would it be listed something different on the side in
 game? When I tried hosting the game, it said that the game was not hosted
 because there was a 3.1.2R3 version out. However when I went to the
 website i did not see this version. Can someone help me out here?

 It's actually two commits. One I did to give attribution to the person who
 reported it and one with all the changes I incorporated yesterday.

 I made one patch with git format-patch (which is actually two patches ^^)
 and one unified-diff formatted patch containing both. If you apply the
 latter, please somehow include the report, Markus Enzenberger, in the
 ticket for fixing one typo.

 Before we get the new map format done, i'd like to push the following
 quick fix. It's trivial enough to probably even go into the 3.1 branch; in
 fact it only touches a few lines of data, not even code.

 -

 The story so far: ''cliff decals'' were created in order to improve
 playability of old maps, clearly marking passable and unpassable areas in
 cases when the new renderer is ambigiously vague. Newly created maps, on
 the other hand, can be made to knowingly avoid this problem. Hence, it is
 a good idea to allow the map makers avoid using cliff decals on the new
 maps, or allow them to use cliff decals for only a few cliffs, and use
 bare cliff terrain texture for the rest. Right now this can only be
 achieved thourgh map-mod'ing, which is evil.

 -

 The patch solves the problem by adding two new tiles to each tileset,
 which is cliff-cliff-cliff-cliff texture without decals, and also an
 additional water-water-water-water texture for easier usage of seabed
 texture as normal terrain (which often looks very cool). For rockies, two
 cliff tiles are added, because there are two distinct cliff textures on
 rockies, and both of them are provided as decal-only.

 This patch doesn't break support for old maps, be it campaign or skirmish
 maps. They are loaded correctly and work as expected.

 New maps (which use extra tiles) are loaded by the unpatched game as well,
 without crashing, just terrain texture is broken for the old tiles
 (replaced with tileset's default texture, eg. red for arizona).

 The map editor dataset is easily patched to make use of the new tiles, and
 the relevant update is provided on the forum.

 A proof-of-concept map file is provided for testing.
