The Surry Arts Council has just announced that Karen Knotts will return to
Mayberry Days with her Tied Up In Knotts show on Friday
at Noon, right between the Mayor's Proclamation and the Rodney Dillard concert.

One universally popular gathering
We were wandering through the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville this
weekend and the orange and blue Mayberry Union High Letterman's Jacket caught
my eye. It was part of a VERY large display of a few of Alan Jackson's personal
belongings. Other Mayberry items included a Squad Car cookie
Barney and Aunt Bee talking about Harold and Sue Grigsby - It's easy to see
what May sees in December... Santy Claus.

I have updated the Mayberry Days website with additional photos from the Surry

According to my records, in the 14 years our chapter has been holding the
WBMUTBB Silent Auction, we have raised $40,813.75 for the Surry Arts Council to
help with Mayberry Days. That represents 100% of what has been brought in

We are less than a month away from Mayberry Days! I thought I would share some
statistics about our chapter's annual community service project - the WMBUTBB
Silent Auction. The first year was 1999, so this will be our 14th event. During
that time, we have raised $38,306.25 for the Surry Arts
Ken - don't forget about the most important rule at the house: OBEY ALL RULES!
- no yelling at the table.
- napkins must be worn on the lap and not on the shirt.
- no vacuuming or sawing wood after nine p.m.
- guests must furnish their own night lights.

An area lake is celebrating its annual Carp Festival this weekend
I bet they know how to fix carp for dinner. The best recipe I've heard is to
nail the carp to an 1/4 inch oak plank and bake it in the oven at 10 min per
pound, remove the fish... and eat the plank.

Despite the wet weather on Saturday morning, the WBMUTBB Silent Auction at
Mayberry Days this past weekend was another successful event thanks to so many
of you who helped out. Our total this year was $4,162.50! We had some great
items again this year and more importantly, new people helping

Awards Show at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville TN again this year.
The show will open with a nice tribute to Andy Griffith featuring Roland White

I have updated the Mayberry Days website with photos and a list of items that
have been donated for this year's auction. Always room for more if you have
something you'd like to donate. I'll put out another request for some help on

The Americana Music Association conference is going on in Nashville this week
and last night there was a music showcase that used our church as the venue. I
was helping clean up afterwards and came across a bag with a jar of honey and a
plastic lemon bottle. No squirt bottle or chewed tar

model (Crown) that was used for Opie's bird Dickie in The New Housekeeper. I
checked the door and it is on a spring that automatically closes the door, so

Aunt Bee's Cleaners and Laundry within the project area here in Nashville. It
