Watched the Jimmy Stewart movie "Bend of the River". Spotted at least 6 TAGS
alumni. Aunt Bee's in it AND so is Rock Hudson. I always think of how much
Bee like Rock and wondered if it started there in the northwoods.

I watched the DVD of "Return to Mayberry" yesterday and had some thoughts I
want to share with you all.
1] I'd been watching my VHS tape (recorded "live" the night it was originally
broadcast) for 20 years now and it was great to have such a clear picture.
And, for the most part,

Just spotted one of the Bookie Barber's co-horts on "Get Smart". He was
playing a henchman and didn't have any lines. Funny how a guy like that--who
was probably as nice as anyone off-stage--could make a career out of playing
bad guys just because he sortof looked sinister.

job of narrating the miniseries, but if they had followed the book a little
closer it should have been Andy's character narrating. Maybe they thought that

I was just listening to an episode of the "Gunsmoke" radio program on-line and
I realized I was picturing Floyd and Mayor Stoner more than their characters on
the radio show. Although Chester's voice conjured up visions of Mayor Stoner
AND made me want some cookies baked in a tree.

In one episode, Barney mentions that the special at the diner comes on a "paper
disk". I grew up in the south, but they were always paper "plates". Anyone
ever hear this particular coloquialism ("paper disk") outside TAGS? Was it
something said in a particular part of the country?

where the police are pulling over good drivers and

"trains" Goober and Otis and Jud to be his deputies

My vote for best color season is 7. It seems like they had "gotten over" the
loss of Barney and had settled down into some great episodes. 8 is good, but
they were also setting up for RFD, so it strikes me as kind of a transition
between the two shows.

character there, Pete the Possum, who is probably the
dumbest character in the strip. He's the easiest to

In the episode where Warren has the "vision" about
danger, he and Goober are in the diner. Goober orders
a milkshake and, when he leaves, it looks like he's
carrying a real milkshake. When they get to Andy's
house, my first thought was that Goober's milkshake
has turned into a cola.

I finally got my season 6 and am really enjoying it.
It's been years since I've seen any of these, so
they're almost like new to me.
Two observations about Warren come to mind. First, I
