Ken,
I sure enjoyed your ponderings of your childhood and TAGS...
I grew up in the mountains of West Virginia, with my parents watching Andy,
Aunt Bee, Barney and the rest of the TAGS characters,
and like you I have fond memories of a hard but happy childhood, with many
similarities to Mayberry.
I saw the episode last night where Bernanard P./Milton/Oliver Fife actually
says
"Who's been messing up the bulletin board?!"
It's Roger, the lawyer sent to get practical law enforcement experience who
is a stickler for rules and statistics.
I've haven't seen a color episode in ages, so no Emmett

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a very nice Christmas. It
started out with us listening to Elvis singing "I'll have a Blip Christmas
Without You." We opened gifts after that and I got a number of really
special things but my favorite is a really nice blip sweater. Linda said

TAGS fans,
Almost through season 1 of Mayberry RFD (and hoping they'll release 2!) and had
some thoughts on the show:
- After the first few episodes, when they were mostly establishing themselves
(I guess), the show got much better.
- How did Milly Swanson afford that huge house on the salary
Charles Adkins, my prayers are with you and your family at this very
difficult time. Please know that your dear wife is in a better place and that
you will see her again.

When I grow up I want to be Miss Peggy. (specially how she can sing on the
porch and make it sound like she's in a recording studio) ...roses love
sunshine, violets love dew..
If I were a drinkin' woman, I'd want to try a Sazerac. And I would sample
the snails and not let them go on by.

Just a couple thoughts:
1. Will Andy be playing practical jokes on Barn--like switching halos?
2. Us, all of us who have The Andy Griffith Show in our hearts, WE are
Mayberry!
Thanks, Andy, for an out-standin' good time!

I don't know how Andy's house was paid for, but he didn't inherit it. In the
episode you mention, when Barney tried to get Andy to sell the house, he told
Opie that when he bought the house, the ceiling had just been painted to hide
the crack.
I do like everyone's speculation about things
Thanks to all of you who contacted me with your thoughts about whether or
not I have to cover the police light. I loved the suggestion of using Mr.
Schwamp's hairpiece. I really laughed out loud at that one. I finally have
decided that I will not cover it. The majority of police officers I
Thanks Janet and Allan for the attention on the Christmas Episode.
Normally I watch on Christmas Eve, but I decided to have a preview to
keep an eye on the Christmas Card Caper. Good discovery. Very
interesting (listen to Two Chairs, No Waiting Podcast if you have not
yet). As one
While watching Andy the other night I got to thinking. In the first season,
there was an episode where Barney thought Andy was making a play for Thelma
Lou. To retaliate, Barney put on his best Rock Hudson hairdo, and made a play
for Andy's girl, Ellie. And later in that show Ellie even
Thanks to those of you who have remembered the greatest character Actor
that there ever was, Don Knotts.
It doesn't seem possible he's been gone two years.

It's fun to see Ron Howard act again. I literally grew up with the
guy. He's a great actor. I'm not always fond of the films he directs
but i like to watch the man act.
The older he gets the more he looks like his father.
Don't always agree with these folks but I'm glad they're still
I was Emailing this week with another veteran and decided I would jot
down some thoughts, that may help folks who are new, and haven't posted
to the Digest much. These are not rules, (only Allan makes the rules,
and we all know the two rules) just realities that I've learned from

Hi Friends...
Its so wonderful to be with you again. I have to THANK KEN for describing the
old time gas stations. Air is sometimes even free..but ice is .25 a cup. and
they rob you when it comes to vaccuming.
I was reminded of my grandfather when he worked at the co-op gas station. And
One of my favorite lines from TAGS is, at the end of Goober Goes to an Auto
Show, Andy turns to Goober and say, You made it. ... How true!

Much has been written about Sheriff Andy Taylor and Deputy Barney Fife.
This is as it should be for they were indeed the stars of The Andy Griffith
Show. However, I have a very special place in my heart for Goober Pyle.
For Goober Pyle is a personification of so many people who live among us.
Thanks folks for sharing on the recent deaths of
Harvey Bullock and Alberta Nelson. Wonderful people.
You know I came into the bulletin board following the
death of Don Knotts. I love this community. Ken put
it well the other day on the love of the people for

It was real nice reading all the beautiful tributes and memories that folks
posted in the various Don Knotts guestbooks and memorial archives for the
past week. Touched me deep to read how Don was loved by so many people all
over the globe and what Don meant to them.
