Tom asked about a background actor in TAGS, and from his description, I think I
know which one he's talking about. In Off to Hollywood, he is in the crowd
of men who want to see the check. He's wearing a light gray-blue jacket. If
this is the fellow Tom's referring to, I have noticed him in

Al and I have been working on this solving this mystery like any TAGS

I can't help but picture Don chasing those brat kids on Halloween like he
did Arnold Winkler when he rode his bicycle on the sidewalk. However, Don
Knotts was no Barney Fife. He probably shouted some superlatives at them. And
if this took place either Halloween 1965 or 1966, he was no longer

--- Got to wondering today. I am almost sure there was some episode
where Goober was referred to as Goober Beasley before he became Goober
Pyle. Does anyone else remember Goober being referred to as Beasley,
and what episode was it?---
I think The Fun Girls was the first episode Goober was in.
My first guess was gonna be Never Hit Your Grandma With A Great Big Stick,
but then I realized that song was never sung, just mentioned. So my guess is
Midnight Special, which Andy sang with Jim Lindsey in the episode called The
Guitar Player Returns from the 1960-61 season. Midnight Special

That is a fellow dressed like Otis but he isn't THE Otis tribute artist,
Kenneth Junkin, that folks see at Mayberry Days and other events on
stage
Hey ya'll
Your to smart for me
The answer to the song was 'The Midnight Special'. It reached #16 in february
of 1960 and Andy sang it sometime in November, I think he only sang the
original chorus and parodied
the rest of it toward Barney.
I found our unknown man in two more episodes, 'Big
