Folks,
I'm looking into buying a camcorder with a strong eye for using the output
online. I hope to set up on my own later this year and I'd like to be able
to offer online video capacity as a site feature should it be appropriate.
I was wondering if people had any recommendations or pointers
All,
The company I'm currently working for have agreed to let me loose on
their website.
Am I correct in believing that the main screen resolution in use is
800x600? or have the majority of users finally got to 1024/768?
I'm just trying to decide which to design for... :)
TIA,
Matt

I always design for 800 X 600 - both fixed and fluid layouts.

An array is more of a programming data structure than a DBMS concept.
Typically, data elements might be read from a database (via query) into one
or more arrays, which may then be programmatically manipulated and then,
usually, the transformed data is either output using various methods

I'm with you. I can't remember the last time I voluntarily maximized my
browser window. I say voluntarily because on occasion I've visited sites
that insisted on going full screen and it really annoys me.
Even though my husband does maximize his browser window he always has his

OK, so what resolution do you design for Rudy? I'm now intrigued.
i design for all resolutions ;o)
If you don't design for 800x600 or 1024x768, and you don't like
scroll bars/maximising windows, I'm dying to know how you
design sites that avoid all of this!
by making the design liquid

yes, it does, it affects search engine positioning

I would like to add a barcode reader input to my webpages. Has anyone done
this and is it even possible. I've been doing some research on adding it to
a VB program which would work if that's the only way to do it. Any
suggestions??
Thanks

This is the first attempt at the new site:

Please note that this is purely an image for mock-up purposes.
To give you a comparison, the old site (not designed by me!) is here:

Matt,
At 1024 resolution it looks great, a lot cleaner than the previous version.
One concern might be that you are losing a lot of space at the top of the
screen with the corporate identity stuff. It takes up about a third on 800
by 600 and you also have a vertical scroll, but I assume that's

Can't speak for Rudi but what I do is make sure it looks okay w/o scrollbars
at 800x600 and liquid so it will flow for larger ones.

Personally I find splash pages annoying especially if I am returning to a
site. Last thing I want to do is sit through the splash screen again. Also,
since search engines use content for ranking pages a splash page isn't going
to help your company get higher in the search engines.
