I'm planning to purchase Dreamweaver. If some body knows, kindly let me
know:
[1] Since I'll be using it mostly for php coding, can I purchase only
that part [the hand coding part] without the web designing features?
[2] Does it have built-in FTP like HTML-Kit (I'm currently using HTML-Kit)?
Hi Amrit,
As far as I know, it is sold as a package. I've not heard of buying a
module.
Yes, it does have built-in FTP.

Deb is correct Amrit - DW comes as a package. You can switch between views
- use coding only, design only or have both displayed on screen - useful
for types like me that are still learning HTM etc etc.!!
It's a comprehensive package so not cheap (in UK at least!!) but I've felt
it was well
Deb, Peter, thanks for replying.
Peter, cost is not an issue (for the first time in my life!) because the
company for whom I have to do the work is funding the hardware/software
cost :-). It's just that, I thought, if I'm not going to use a certain
feature (like we can do in MS Office) why buy
Can't answer that as I've never used Linux - but I've just looked in the
Contents and Index of my Dreamweaver MX Bible and it doesn't even mention
Linux - only Windows and Mac!
Perhaps a hunt on their web site?

Dreamweaver is not available for Linux. You maybe able to run it using one
of the emulators or virtual PC / virtual Mac type programs.
But Linux is not a supported platform and yes, under licensing restrictions
you would need a separate copy.

I did stumble upon a Javascript that read query
strings in URLs with no back-end processing, but I
don't have access to my work machine at the moment.
If I can dig it out then in theory you could pass
query strings (like newpage.html?prevpage=index) and
then read it off so you can trace

I have learned through experience that whenever I say something like I
will never use that feature or similar I end up in a situation where I
do need it. Murphy's Law maybe?
