I haven’t looked at it for a while but what about Quartz? WO has a wrapper for
it:

This reminds me of relative links to images in WO pages. I overwrote

That did the trick. Changed the eclipse.ini file to point to the updated
version.

Here is my setup: Sun Oracle Java JDK 1.8.0_191 on Mojave 10.14.1 using
Eclipse 2018-09 (4.9) with WOnder7
Created a Wonder application from the template which compiled and ran with no
problem.

Thanks Dennis.

Re: WOlips Installation problem

2018-11-11 Thread Klaus Berkling
I’m getting the same error with Eclipse 4.7:

Unable to read repository at
https://jenkins.wocommunity.org/job/WOLips47/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/temp/dist/content.xml.
Unable to read repository at
https://jenkins.wocommunity.org/job/WOLips47/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/temp/dist/content.xml.
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find
valid certification path to requested target

Apparently Eclipse is looking for “content.xml” which I don’t think is there.
This reproduces for Eclipse 4.9 and 4.6.

It’s late, tomorrow I try it locally.

WOCookie cookie = new WOCookie(userGUIDCookieKey, guid, "/", null, 2592000,
false);

I recall having an issue with setting it to secure. I think -1 didn’t work but
it’s been a long time.

If memory serves, the Standalone Modeler was made on commission.
OmniGraffle 5.4.4 is to able to open it to a good graphical representation of
the model.

Re: Webobjects POS

2017-07-18 Thread Klaus Berkling
A long time ago I had to interact with signature pads and hand-held scanners.
The client hardware with the peripherals ran software which exposed its
services via small http servers and could be accessed by the browser.
This implementation had some fancy trendy name which I have forgotten…sorry.
The peripheral vendor might have the right software/drivers already.

Re: Abandoning AjaxDatePicker for JQuery?

2017-05-18 Thread Klaus Berkling

If the field content isn't saved I'd go back to basics, removing any
JavaScript events and manipulation from the HTML, and fix that first. Manually
enter a date that you server side date formatter understands. After all, the
date picker is just client side fanciness.

The validateDate function is JavaScript I use but didn't add to the email. You
can just remove that line in the bindings. I should too since the date picker
shouldn't require validation.

Sent from my phone.

I’m walking out the door but:

In the WOD:

StartDate : WOTextField {
value = event.startDate;
formatter = localDateFormatter;
placeholder = "mm/dd/";
class = "eventdatepicker";
onblur = "validateDate(this);";
onchange = "$('#Update').click();";
otherTagString = "readonly='true'";
}

And in a js file:

$(document).ready(function() {
console.log("Document ready.")

$(".eventdatepicker").datepicker({
dateFormat: "mm/dd/yy",
changeMonth: true,
changeYear: true,
    yearRange: '-0y:+5y',
defaultDate: '0'
});

});

Hope this helps.

Right, outside the RR the application is simply not aware of the host name.

I was hoping I could access the woAdaptor settings from the SiteConfig.xml:

https://apps.berkling.us/Apps/WebObjects

Or correctly set WOAdaptorURL which is set to
"http://localhost/cgi-bin/WebObjects;

Adding to that applications name + ‘.woa’ and I’d be all set.

(Maybe I’ll attempt to add something to Wonder…)

Thanks.

Creating working wocontext()

Hi Gang.

I’m sending a scheduled email (ERQSJob) using a WOComponent as the message
content. When the email is sent the links in the component page are wrong. I
tried the different pageWithName and instantiatePage methods and they work for
non-scheduled messages.

I can create a wocontext from a fake worequest:

WORequest fakeRequest = new ERXRequest("GET",
"https://apps.berkling.us/...woa;, "HTTP 1.1", null, null, null);
WOContext context = new ERXWOContext(fakeRequest);

I generate the links with completeURLWithRequestHandlerKey() to an direct
action. I also have links to web resources like images. The urls will look like
‘http://localhost:…https://apps.berkling.us/…’, prepending the localhost part.

Anyone tackle this before?

OT: Group Member Management

Hi All.

A while ago I mentioned I’m working on a web application to manage
group/organization members (e.g. the WO community). I’m now at a point where I
have something to present.

If you’re interested in playing around with it and giving me some pointers on
features I’ve overlooked, please let let me know.

(Wether the WO community wants to use it or not I leave to others to decide.)

Thanks.

I'll keep that in mind for next time. :)
In this case something must escape the command arguments because this wasn't it.

The SpawnOfWotaskd.sh could not create its log file directory so it never
launched the app instance.

In the scripts it wants to create /Library/WebObjects/Logs/SpawnOfWotaskd.log

Now on to the next issue...

Problem starting up app instance with -NSProjectSearchPath ()

2016-05-29 Thread Klaus Berkling

I have a new app on a new installation. I'm nor trying to start my app
instance and it doesn't launch.
It runs form the command line. Paths and permissions appear to be correct.

When I run the app with the some command line parameters as monitor I get an
error at with this: -NSProjectSearchPath ()
It does not like the " () " part. Taking that out the app starts manually and
shows up as running in monitor. I never had issues with this flag. I'm not
sure what it should look like or where to set it. What is this used for?

This works:
sudo -s /opt/Local/Library/WebObjects/Applications/MyApp.woa/MyApp -WOPort 2001
-WOCachingEnabled NO -WODebuggingEnabled NO -WOOutputPath
/opt/Local/Library/WebObjects/Logs/MyApp-1 -WOAutoOpenInBrowser NO
-WOAutoOpenClientApplication NO -WOLifebeatInterval 30 -WOLifebeatEnabled YES
-WOLifebeatDestinationPort 1085 -WOAdaptor WODefaultAdaptor
-WOWorkerThreadCount 8 -WOListenQueueSize 16 -WOWorkerThreadCountMin 16
-WOWorkerThreadCountMax 32 -WOSessionTimeOut 3600 -WOApplicationName MyApp
-WOMonitorEnabled YES -WONoPause YES -WOHost localhost

The OS probably doesn’t matter. Is this right:

netbrackets1.netbrackets.com has address 208.52.161.87
87.161.52.208.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer netbrackets1.netbrackets.com.

netbrandeds-mini1.netbrandeds.info has address 208.52.189.44
44.189.52.208.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer
netbrandeds-mini1.netbrandeds.info.

I have a feeling the servers need to be in the same domain - Can someone second
that?
I always put my hosts on a private network but if you have Mac minis you might
not have that option (maybe firewire of thunderbolt network bridge?).
You don’t want to send your application traffic over a co-location network
anyways.

If it's not a firewall issue, it might be a DNS issue if you are using host
names. If memory serves then use the WOHost parameter as the hostname you use
in JavaMonitor. If you have multiple IP addresses you'll need to check if
everyone is listing on the right socket, check with lsof -i tcp:1085 or lsof -i
tcp:2001

Make sure there is only one JavaMonior running, usually on the head node. One
wotaskd on each server and only one apache web server - the head node.

Try to completely set up one host only, so no www2 server anywhere - not in
JavaMonitor nor WebObjectsConfig. First use localhost and make sure the app is
working.

Then use the servers' IP address, at this point you can't use 'localhost'
anymore anywhere. Make sure your app is still working. After that add the other
host to WebObjectsConfig and JavaMonitor using the IP addresses (avoiding any
DNS issues). Double check the syntax on that line. JavaMonitor should say that
both hosts are available.

If you make changes in JavaMonitor to the configuration, make sure you see the
SiteConfig.xml file change on both servers (usually in
/Library/WebObjects/Configuration).

If both servers are talking to each other, add your application in JavaMonitor
and add one instance for each host. Then try to turn them on and off and watch
the processes on each of the hosts start and stop.

BTW, you should be able to manage all instance nodes and instances regardless
of the web server. You can check the mechanics before you turn on the site.

Hope this helps. It's been a while since I've done this.

I use OmniGraffle too to visualize the schema and the relationships. Attributes

Re: Build Path issue - unbound Wonder frameworks

2015-11-05 Thread Klaus Berkling
Ok, thanks all. I think I found my issue.

My wolips.properties file is correct in the sense that it points to WebObjects.
I checked my old installation (separate Mac) and found Wonder frameworks in
"/Library/WebObjects/Versions/WebObjects543/Library/Frameworks".
I don't remember how the frameworks got there - I may have built them from
source last year, they all have the same mod. date.

They are also in "/Library/Frameworks" where I've been installing them in since
'for ever'

Anyways. I'll fix my bleeding edge Mac and see what happens.

Thanks, appreciate everyone's input.

Build Path issue - unbound Wonder frameworks

2015-11-04 Thread Klaus Berkling
I’m warming up my WO development environment after a year or so. I still have a
working Eclipse 3.8/Java 1.6 installation.
I’m using Mars release of Eclipse
WOLips 4.4
Wonder 7 frameworks are installed

 in /Library/Frameworks
Java 1.8

It seems I can build & run WebObjects applications but not Wonder applications.
I created the wo apps using the templates.

I haven’t see the unbound issue before in the Build Path window:

I’m missing something, but I don’t see it (Ich muß Tomaten of the Augen haben).
Any ideas?

 Any ideas? :-) I do love a puzzle.

The cheap solution is to place the PDF in a inline frame. You can then set the
title tag in that HTML page.
Looking at the window.open() method, it has no option to set the title (name is
not the same as title).

I wonder if you can pre-open an window with a target name that has HTML with a
title tag. Then issue another window.open() targeting that pre-opened window
and load the PDF. It would probably overwrite the window title, though.

Not sure how you create the redirect but is it different then whats below? It
creates a redirect to an action by name like 'default' for 'defaultAction()'.
Never had an issue with virtual host using this. I would not create the URL
manually unless you have a unique URL that WO can't self-generate.

ERXRedirect redirect = new ERXRedirect(this.context());
redirect.setDirectActionName(login);
redirect.setQueryParameters(null);
return redirect;

Or this using WORedirect:

WORedirect defaultPage = (WORedirect)pageWithName(WORedirect,
aContext);
defaultPage.setUrl(aContext.directActionURLForActionNamed(
default,
new NSDictionaryString, Object(Boolean.FALSE,
wosid)));

return defaultPage.generateResponse();

I prefer the ERXRedirect.

Can you set a flag in your session class when someone explicitly terminates the

Re: Why is the Configuration of EVERY instance/application shared with EVERY application-server?

2014-07-16 Thread Klaus Berkling

On Jul 15, 2014, at 12:34 PM, Paul Dunkler paul.dunk...@xyrality.com wrote:

 we are currently facing some deployment problems with WebObjects-Applications
 which most probably has the reasons in our (very big) running
 WebObjects-Configuration.
 While thinking about how we start fixing the problem, i faced the following
 question:

 Why is the complete SiteConfiguration of every application and every instance
 shared with every application server?

I think it's about simplicity in the design. It syncs the SiteConfig.xml as a
whole as an independent task.

 I just checked the code of JavaMonitor. All default actions like addInstance,
 updateInstance and so on are sent to EVERY configured application host.
 And i'm wondering if it wouldn't be enough that every application server only
 knows about the instances configured to run on itself.

This adds complication to the sync process within the concept of the
independent task idea.

 Like its now the SiteConfiguration can grow very large. A synch-request which
 is triggered by the monitor in error cases is then taking a very long time to
 compute in the wotaskd which leads to configuration read problems in the
 adaptor.

That's interesting, never seen that before. How large is your SiteConfig.xml
file, in bytes?
If you have one large SiteConfig files does it also mean you have one head
node?
A really fast, simple, error free network really helps. Don't go through your
ISP's network drops to communicate with your instance hosts, use a private
network switch. Giving JavaMonitor and wotaskd more RAM also helps a lot.

 And then another thing. In the default implementation of the GracefulBouncer,
 the requests for updating scheduling and so on are only sent to the hosts
 which have instances configured for the current application. Why are these
 updates not sent to EVERY application server?

Not sure if this is right. This information is stored in the siteconfig file
which every host gets. If a host does not get an updated siteconfig file, it
does do not get the updated schedule.

I always treated all my hosts in a site exactly the same, including the head
node. I then turned on instances only on those that I needed - on the host of
my choosing. I never bothered to only place my application bits on those
instance hosts on which I told JavaMonitor to run an instance on. All hosts
got all the same bits - including the siteconfig file. Shifting traffic from
one host to another, temporarily if a host died, it's easier if all your hosts
have all the application installed.

If your site configuration is indeed very large it may make sense to split up
your site. That whole 'eggs in one basket' thing. If your SiteConfig gets
hosed for some reason it can make the entire site behave wonky.

Hope this helps. However I'm not sure I said anything you didn't already know.
:-)

 For example I have a textfield with an observer.
 - I enter an ö.
 - In the setText event I get the string ö.

So you get double byte chars and it might be that it's not rendered properly.

 - This has nothing to do with the database because in my example I have no
 data exchange with the database. It is only between the gui and the app.

Ah, lovely. PITA thing to track down. :-)

I have not found the definitive answer to the UTF-8 encodings. Here are some
more hints to check:
In the Application() class, this probably didn't change for you, but anyways:

this.setDefaultEncoding(UTF-8);
WOMessage.setDefaultURLEncoding(UTF-8);
ERXMessageEncoding.setDefaultEncoding(UTF-8);

Check the header of the HTML page:

meta http-equiv=content-type content=text/html; charset=utf-8 /

Also check the form encoding, this is unusual and you can skip this if you
added the meta tag above:

form ... accept-charset=UTF-8

or

Form : WOForm {
...
accept-charset = UTF-8;
}

As I said, I haven't found the definitive method because there are several
variables.
Do you do a getBytes() anywhere? Always use a character map with getBytes();

 I checked the properties of the project in Eclipse and all encoding is on
 UTF-8. I didn't changed the properties file of the project. I run another
 application and all is fine. I moved the project to another machine and it
 was the same. I used another fresh database but it doesn't help. I tested
 another browser, I cleaned the project and I rebooted the machine. Nothing
 helped.

 So I'm sure it has something to do with my project but where? In the
 project preferences I use UTF-8 encoding. I think it must be on the way
 from the browser to the event in my app, perhaps in the WO framework.

 Does the text survive the request/response loop w/out saving and subsequent
 retrieval from the database?
 Does the text survive the trip into the database? Can you see it correctly
 with a db admin GUI?
 Did JDBC connector change? New version?
 Did the JDBC connection string change?

Re: WebObjects and IPv6 Support

2014-04-28 Thread Klaus Berkling
Hi Saad and all.

Maybe it's plausible in your environment to place all your WO servers into a
private network. And then only use an IPv6 address on your head node where all
the WO parts use private IPv4 addresses. But you would have multiple IP
addresses on the head node.

One thing that I wanted to try is using NAT through a firewall, placing all the
WO servers into a private network with no multiple IP addresses. You would NAT
the public IP address to the private address of the head node.

Anyone have good experiences with VLANs?

 Hi Ray,

 Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately _setHostIdentificationBytes() does not
 use _HostIdentificationBytesLength it relies exclusively on the input that's
 passed in i.e. the bytes array to do it's logic. So short of changing the
 code (which is not an option for us) not sure what else we can do :(

 Wonder has a few classes in it that replace eocontrol classes but this
 class is unfortunately not one of them. My spider-sense is tingling and
 telling me that there may be a static final ivar in that class that is
 set to the maximum number of bytes allowed for the
 hostIdentificationBytes value. It may be called ...
 _HostIdentificationBytesLength, perhaps. It's just a guess.

 And, you know, if one thought an IP address could be as many as 6 bytes,
 this was the 1990's version of thinking ahead.

 You could write the code that will, early in your app's life, grab
 that static ivar via reflection and call the method that allows you to
 set the value of the field to another number. There will be a whole
 slew of exceptions to catch there. Look at the javadoc for
 java.lang.reflect.Field and the stuff around there. This would be
 easier than trying to replace the class right now.

 Send a note if you need more specific pointers or if the suggestion
 does not work.

 Hello All,

 We are trying to deploy a webobjects application on an IPv6 network
 but as soon we pass java.net.preferIPv6Addresses = true to the JVM,
 to try to force our app to use IPv6 addresses we get the following
 error and the application can not start up:

 Servlet: WOServletAdaptor failed to preload on startup in Web
 application: app. javax.servlet.UnavailableException: Error

 com.webobjects.jspservlet.WOServletAdaptor._applicationInit(WOServletAdaptor.java:442)
 at
 com.webobjects.jspservlet.WOServletAdaptor.initStatics(WOServletAdaptor.java:95)

 We believe this is due to the
 EOTemporaryGlobalID._setHostIdentificationBytes()  method that's part
 of the javaeocontrol jar. The _setHostIdentificationBytes() method
 expects the ip address to be either 4 bytes or 6 bytes, but in the
 case of IPv6 it will be 16 bytes so the check fails and an exception
 is thrown. The fix is pretty straight forward but since this is part
 of the WebObjects framework we are unable to change the source code
 and are wondering if this was already addressed as part of project
 wonder? or if somebody has been successful at running WebObjects with
 IPv6 some other way? Thanks in advance.

 Thanks,

 Saad

Are you starting the app from the command line with sudo -u appserver ...?
Don't run it as root because you won't see any permissions errors :-)

Is the web server on the same host as the app and you only have one host?
In that case the host in JavaMonitor should be localhost/127.0.0.1. Otherwise
you can try the real IP address of the host.

Run
sudo lsof -i tcp:1085

Is wotaskd listing on *:1085 or your host's IP address?
Do the same for JavaMonitor using the port it runs on.
Ideally there is one IP address that wotaskd, JavaMonitor, and your app listen
to. If that's not the case add -WOHost IPAddress as a command line parameter
for wotaskd, JavaMonitor, and your app.

And maybe another in /opt/Library... if NEXT_ROOT is set to /opt.

Frameworks/Ajax/Ajax/WebServerResources in Wonder

2014-04-14 Thread Klaus Berkling

Can someone confirm that wondaculous-min.js and wondaculous.js in
Frameworks/Ajax/Ajax/WebServerResources is auto-updated by some other task?
I'm asking because the files changed from under me. I'm guessing ant will
update it ether running 'ant frameworks' or 'and frameworks.install'?

(Same seems to apply to 'Frameworks/Misc/WOJRebel/manifest.mf')

Thanks.
