I know it's just a visual extension. But it has happened to me several times. 
If I activate your extension it does not generate the reports automatically. If 
I force wee_reports all but FTP and RSYNC are generated. No errors in log. 

I use WMR300 driver.

would it be best to convert from Sqlite to Mysql on the first Pi, and then set 
the second to use Mysql from the get go? to

[weewx-user] Acurite 1092 / Pressure outside limits

Hello!

I have an Acurite 01092DI, currently running Weewx on Raspbian. 
This is my first time using Weewx, so I may be missing something simple - 
but I seem to be having an odd pressure outside limits error. 

My Acurite console is showing 30.21 inHg

That's what looks like is going on. Your reports are stepping on each other 
and the database is locked. 

You can either disable the highcharts portion by setting highcharts_enabled 
= 0  in 
options or disable the skin all together. I'm going to be tinkering around 
with the chart generations this week. I'll keep you updated on anything 
that needs some testing

Yes, although it will mean accessing the database across a network, which
can lead to locking problems. You may be better off using MySQL, which is
designed for access across a network.

An alternative is to run both instances of the same RPi. Because only one
of them is running the reports, the compute demand should not be too great.
I think many users are doing this.

I think the problem is the overloading of the "dot." You're using it in two
contexts: as a separator for Cheetah, and as the suffix for a file name.

Try escaping the dot. Something like $latest.windDir.ordinal_compass\.png
and see if that helps.

It actually may be running a bit better now, though the Belchertown web 
page update time is behind my SteelSeries web page. And both are behind my 
archive period. I'm not using mqtt at this point. Just want to get this 
running. 

So maybe it's now just that report generation is extremely slow. I hope 
there is a way to resolve that without buying a new box to run weewx on.

It looks like it's taking about 575 seconds to generate the files for the 
Belchertown report. I am also still seeing notes about report thread launch 
being aborted as one is already running. My archive period is 300 seconds.

I installed WeeWX with install.py. So everything lives underneath 
/home/weewx/.

I replaced the file in /Belchertown/records folder with the one you gave 
me. Then I re-enabled the Belchertown skin in weewx.conf, restarted WeeWX 
and ran wee_reports. Per the log extract below, after about 8 minutes, 
weewx hung with the database locked. WeeWX automatically restarted 2 
minutes later.

In between my efforts to run Belchertown, I've been disabling the 
Belchertown extension by commenting out the three lines in weewx.conf 
starting with [[Belchertown]] and then stopping and then starting weewx 
again. I re-enable it to test the next change.

I wonder if locking the file is also the cause of the complaints that 
header.html.tmpl doesn't exist in earlier efforts. I noticed that a report 
thread couldn't be started as one was already running. Maybe that running 
report thread locked the file as it (or something) locked the archive 
database?

Also, it seems that typing sudo /etc/init.d/weewx stop doesn't always stop 
weewx when Belchertown is running. Even though I return to the prompt, when 
I looked at ps, WeeWX was still running. I ended up rebooting once and 
Killing the PID the last time.

Will the Belchertown report generation time decrease after the initial run 
through the database? Or will it take the same time each report generation

My quick read was that since weewx uses strings, you probably did that for 
the unit conversion stuff.  The patch I did un-stringizes the values before 
doing the actual publishing after the unit conversion has happened.

Thanks! It's my day off work, so in between my daughter's naps I've been 
able to get a few things done :)

The station hardware shouldn't matter since it's weewx that is doing the 
middle-man work to make them all speak the same language in the skin files. 

My archive is 261,459 records (not on a Pi) but it shouldn't matter either 
way. The Pi might take a while longer to process those 106,000 records - 
which is why you see 571.39 seconds. 

I'm not sure why it's said your header.html.tmpl is missing. I wonder if 
there's something else going on and that's just an effect of it.

How did you install? Using apt or using setup.py? 

There are 4 places .wind is used on the records page. Let's try this out. 
Take this attached file, and copy it to the skins/Belchertown/records 
folder overwriting the one there. Then run sudo wee_reports and see if it 
helps?

You should know that my archive database has about 106,000 records. I 
wouldn't think that's particularly large. Also, I am running weewx on a Pi 
Zero W. So, it's a pretty weak system processing-wise.

You're really multi-tasking today - I see lots of posts from you. You're 
supposed to be enjoying Labor Day, not laboring on it :-).
I owe you coffee. Will do that!

it has been quite some time since i touched that code, but i seem to recall 
that i had to make everything a string in order to get things to work.  i 
think that was the reason for the line:

s = fmt % v

or maybe that was to do the formatting for decimal places (the weewx-mqtt 
uploader follows patterns that are used in other uploaders such as emoncms 
and smartenergygroups and thingspeak.  but maybe those are not all 
appropriate...)

My guess is once the skin gets stable updates will be less and less. I

I was able to reproduce your error on my 3 year old database. I don't know 
why it works with the same data on another machine - but I won't worry 
about that right now. 

I also was able to make it fail with the changes I did this morning. I will 
work on this now and let you know when it's all set.

[weewx-user] cheetah tag and images

I'm trying to make a sorta minimalistic skin for a tablet that will be 
mounted on the wall. As it's an old 7", and I want as much relevant info as 
possible at a glance, without it being cramped up, whilst still legible for 
my parents without glasses, I'm trying to save space wherever it seems 
reasonable.
Currently, I have gotten stuck on an issue related to my inexperience with 
real coding.
I'm trying to use an image of an arrow for wind direction (well, 16 images 
to be honest), thinking that if '$latest.windDir.ordinal_compass' 
translates into say NNO, then I'll simply do  and it will turn that into . 

It made perfect sense.. to me at least... but not to mr Cheetah Engine 
It simply ignores my attempt to be smart, and spits out that there is no 
such image as $latest.windDir.ordinal_compass.png

Obviously I made something wrong, so basically, where did I do wrong? 
Should it be doable and I simply have done it wrong, or am I going at it 
totally wrong and need to do it in a completely different way?

Dear Liz,
the current issue is the import of the "realtime" XML data to Weewx.
The Hardware Controller from Weatherstation  does provide all Sensor data 
as XML File via Ethernet.

This means i "need" a driver for data import. Function: Weewx does read the 
XML File 1/min.

I do not have found any solution about this.

For better imagination i have attached the Controller XML File

Can anybody send me a sample how can i do that?

Pat,

OK. I'm making progress. I put in about.inc and records.inc files.

Now I am seeing a number of errors. Syslog output with debug=1 is attached. 

1. First it says I'm getting errors from the Cheetahgenerator saying that 
it is ignoring index.html.tmpl in the Belchertown records directory because 
no column called wind exists.
2. Later errors say it is ignoring index.html.tmpl because 
/home/weewx/skins/Standard/header.html.tmpl doesn't exist.
3. Finally report generation is exceeding my 5 minute archive time and I 
get errors saying report thread not start because of an existing one. 

Regarding 3. I remember reading something about excessive report time in 
the thread on weewx-user, but couldn't find the particular post just now.

I hope you can point me in the right direction. I did get one web page 
generated that looked nice, but it didn't get updated.

I've made a few changes today in an attempt to clear your issue. You can

Can you please try this new file? Copy the raw contents of this commit 

 
and place it in your bin/user/belchertown_highchartsSearchX.py

I've tested this file on APT install, and setup.py installs, with 3 years 
of database data, and 7 months of database data. All scenarios worked. 
Hoping you have the same result.

[weewx-user] Wind Direction

Did some more changes last nite and when I started weeewx afterwards all wind 
directions showed N/A including the current wind direction. When the current 
wind direction changed to ESE all the other historical wind speed / directions 
also changed to ESE.

Juan, try this file that's attached. Place it into your bin/user folder, 
overwriting the old one. 

I changed the way the file gets the beginning of the year's timestamp - 
which I think is the problem you were seeing. 

It works for me on my lab.

*This is a test to see if it works for you. Others may download this if 
they want but this is a test file for Juan. *

Sadly, the installer seems basic at this point in time where it'll 
overwrite everything you have listed to install. So this was a work-around 
for the time being.

[weewx-user] WH4000 (WH3080) changes transmitter ID when it starts to Rain

I have issues with WH4000 (using SDR it's WH3080). When starts to rain 
(almost every time) outside unit for temp, rain, ... changes transmitter ID 
(restarts?).
That causes that WH4000 console loses outside sensor and it sometimes takes 
more than 3hours to connect to externla sensor with new ID again.
I discovered that while troubleshooting wireless connectivity (due to lost 
connectivity when raining) by using SDR. Logs below:

I have no problems with UV/Lux sensor, that one does not change transmitter
