2019-07-31 Thread Pat
The history from the niculskin is not available in Belchertown. Someone I
believe has forked Belchertown and included it. You can check the forks to
try and find it.

Heatmap is also not available right now. Unsure if/when that'll be added

[weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin for weewx now available!

2019-06-30 Thread Pat
Hi,

It looks like you changed your navigation and removed the
belchertown_root_url. It is there for a reason in version 1.0 :) Please add
it back in if you want it to work for you. See the original header code to
see how it was used

.

Modifying the weather record snapshot table is something you will need to
customize yourself. There are no Belchertown "Extras" settings that make
this easy.

The information found in the weewx customization guide can be applied to
modifying the skin. http://weewx.com/docs/customizing.htm

The snapshot table can be found here, and you're free to customize it
however you want.

All graphs are static pre-configured time frames. There is no dynamic
calendar/dropdown option.

Dynamic time frame charting either requires *a lot of JSON files* or direct
access to the database. Neither option is ideal in the current typical
weewx environment.

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin for weewx now available!

2018-12-13 Thread Pat
I haven't run into this issue before. Looks like it's something with weewx
maybe and not the skin? How big is your database? Is it sqlite or mysql (in
weewx.conf [DataBindings] -> [[dest_binding]], what is database = ???)

[weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin for weewx now available!

2018-12-13 Thread kutzenco
Your log indicates that the database is becoming locked, causing weewx to
terminate the Generator.

What are you running weewx on?
Is it a Raspberry Pi?
If so, what model?

I had similar problems when I was running weewx with the Belchertown skin
on a Raspberry Pi Zero W. The Pi Zero W took over 240 seconds to render the
graphs. My archive period is 5 minutes (300 seconds). When I added another
task to the Pi, it slowed down enough that weewx hung because the
Belchertown skin was trying to read the database at the same time that
weewx was trying to write archive data to the database.

I moved my weewx implementation to a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and the Belchertown
graph rendering dropped to about 45 seconds and my problems went away.

I suspect that's what's happening. to you.

2018-12-13 Thread steeple ian

[weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin for weewx now available!

2018-12-07 Thread Pat
I'm seeing this error now on a newly installed system. It didn't come up
before.

Let me run some tests and I'll release 0.8.1.

I'll keep you updated.

That's it, it works;)
my files were crappy (different units in the weewx.conf and skin.conf)
I also had a big problem with:
[[[Extras]]]
   belchertown_root_url = http://192.168.1.20/weewx/belchertown
It's now settled.
I put the updated files

In your weew.conf file (which you attached earlier), HTML_ROOT shoud be the
same under the [[Belchertown]] stanza and the [Highcharts_Belchertown]]
stanza. Yours are different. I think they should also be pointing to the
weewx/belchertown folder (though I'm not sure).

I don't know if that would fix it, but give it a try.

2018-12-06 Thread Philip Kutzenco
I think that normally the Apache server should be serving up the files
located in public_html/belchertown. On my weewx system, that is
/home/weewx/public_html/belchertown. Did you install weewx with setup.py or
apt-get. That will determine where that directory actually is (I used
setup.py).

What are the files in that directory? There should be an index.html file
(among all of the others) there.

Generally, WeeWX does not cache anything. Indeed, it's against the whole
architectural philosophy of WeeWX to cache values. Let the database do any
caching --- it's better at it.

The only exception is that the StdRESTful service keeps recent LOOP packets
to keep the Weather Underground's "Rapidfire" protocol happy.

In that case the data is coming from weewx directly and i'm not sure if it
caches anything since it's from the last archive interval.

Does the standard skin show the same thing for wind data?

Preference is to have all options in weewx.conf under the Belchertown
Extras section
.
Then (as I understand it), weewx joins skin.conf and the weewx.conf Extras
together with weewx.conf as a priority.

My suggestion is to put skin.conf back to the original state and then move
your options into weewx, and then restart weewx.

Hi Pat,

Which file takes priority, weewx.conf or skin.conf? By that I mean if you
have something set to 1 in skin.conf and something set to 0 in weewx.conf
which wins?

Or

Am I right in thinking skin.conf gets parsed every single run but
weewx.conf only gets parsed when you re-start weewx? I ask because I'm
scratching my head why certain changes are not picked up all the time.

Thanks

2018-12-03 Thread stellingorama
Just converted from CumulusMX to weewx with your Skin. Everything runs
fine, only two minor things I want to get changed:

   1. My weather station is a very basic FineOffset WH1080 with sensor for
UV/solar radiation. Is there a simple way to deactivate the solar radiation
   plot?
   2. Another thing is the time format that is in am/pm format but shows up
without am or pm indicators. Can this be set to 24 hour format?

My site: https://wetter.teamstelling.de/

Besides that brilliant piece of software and nice responsive skin!

I upgraded to 0.8 with no issues whatever.
No edits, no replacing files, very nice update.
Thanks Pat!

I’ll look into using the hooks in a little while, but for now, plain
vanilla install.

change that graph to show humidity as another option. Change your skin

Nope. It's HTML, JSON and JavaScript.

weewx parses the Python code, and creates the files.

problems using PHP with the ftp server i got through my ISP. But I will do
as instructed and let you know. Thanks!

Can you set debug = 1 in weewx.conf, restart weewx and then upload anything
from your syslog that shows errors?

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin for weewx now available!

2018-12-02 Thread Pat
Great news! The belchertown_root_url isn't documented yet because 0.8 isn't
out yet and I was trying to reduce confusion :)

I guess I should just launch 0.8 now! Which will be exactly what you just
installed, but I did fix an apparent temperature bug last night. I'll look
to release 0.8 today - I think it's baked long enough.

I just installed the Belchertown skin, but im having issues with the
index.html page. There doesn't seem to be one when its uploaded to the ftp
server im using. I can click on the Reports, Graphs, etc folders and then
the pages pull up, but there is no Home page? Is this a configuration
issue that im missing?

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin for weewx now available!

2018-12-02 Thread John Clark

OK, Here's what I did,

As before, everything works wonderfully except graphs and reports (both
locally and remotely) yet the CWOP, PWS, etc are updating fine. Below is
three loops on the syslog file. Another thing I did was to move the
remote files to another server (www.thechurchatmorley.org/weather) and
the main difference was that in the
http://www.thechurchatmorley.org/json/ directory there was only an
index.html file but I noticed a weather/belchertown directory with a
/json directory that was populated with the *.json files so I copied
them up one directory and suddenly I have graphs. Working with this
premise I looked in the belchertown config file and the top line is >>
belchertown_root_url = "" << so my question now is should there be
something in the quotes in the above "Belchertown URL" line? If so, then
what am I missing? /*

*/

/*(continued) SUCCESS! Once I filled in the "belchertown root" path all
works beautifully, as far as I am able to tell so far EVERYTHING works,
graphs, reports, earthquakes. I wish to thank everyone for all their
patience and help. I'm not sure I could have done it without it.*/

 I'm seeing in the Chrome
Console a blocked page to sedoparking. Do you know what this is?
Is this your web hosting provider?

The other directories look good, so maybe the /json/ folder is
missing and your provider is trying to send a 404 in a weird way?
Try putting an index.html with a "hello world" inside of it to see
*something* work in http://weather.w0avq.org/json/.
..

Admittedly, I don't have any experience with the ftpuploader - so
there very well could be a fault with that extension but I'm not
familiar with. Your NOAA reports aren't working either - so it
could be something with the ftpuploader. Can you set debug = 1 in
weewx.conf and see if it gives any clues?

PWS, WUnderground, and weathercloud seem to be correctly

something pointing the wrong direction. For instance,
year.json is locally generated just fine (apparently) and
uploaded just fine, but I cannot read it either locally or on
the website. This is particularly disquieting as I decided to
quit shaving my head and it is getting long enough to pull
out. Just in case it will help the website is

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin for weewx now available!

2018-12-01 Thread John Clark
Did as directed and so far all is wonderfully functional except the
graphs which are not available either through localhost or remotely, and
the monthly reports only show the current month no matter which one I
choose. I am convinced that I have one (or more) directories looking at
the wrong place, just haven't tracked it down yet. All info at CWOP,
PWS, WUnderground, and weathercloud seem to be correctly updated which
(to me) further states it is a local problem, something pointing the
wrong direction. For instance, year.json is locally generated just fine
(apparently) and uploaded just fine, but I cannot read it either locally
or on the website. This is particularly disquieting as I decided to quit
shaving my head and it is getting long enough to pull out. Just in case
it will help the website is weather.w0avq.org

Try this attached file. I tested it very quickly.

Stop weewx, place it in your user/bin folder, restart weewx.

I changed the query to try and ignore NULL values. Hopefully this helps?

Yes, all done with weewx stoped. But I find a way: delete rows with null
values (those 2) and don't run rebuild (the DELETE was done AFTER rebuild
command), so this way it's working.but I'm not sure why rebuild is
creating these 2 rows with null values :(

Thanks for the clarification Tom! I knew about NULL and "", but had assumed
that your wee_database checked for NULL, and not null string. Makes sense
now.

Jonis - did you stop weewx in between making the changes? Maybe that could
be causing the data to persist? Not really sure on this one.

For some reason, there is 2 records with null valuesbut even deleting
these, after running --rebuild-daily, both records still there (they are
re-create!)
I've tried to delete this both records from table 'archive' (using dateTime
as key), but still there after running rebuild!

Pat, just to clarify: there is a difference between a NULL value and a null
string. The former is equivalent to Python's None value, and are to be
expected throughout the databases. The latter is a string of zero length
and should not normally appear in the databases. The utility wee_database
checks only for zero-length strings.

2018-11-30 Thread Pat
Interesting. That command checks your archive table. So that seems fine.

The error is coming from the archive_day_outTemp table and specifically the
MAX column.

Any chance your archive_day_outTemp table has NULL values in MAX?

You can try this MySQL query to see: SELECT

* FROM `archive_day_outTemp` WHERE max

IS

NULL;

If it finds one, you can rebuild the daily summaries. Shouldn't harm
anything, but have a backup first of course.

wee_database --drop-daily

wee_database --rebuild-daily

you run into problem, restore your backup) Or wait for 0.8 to come out and

That error makes me think your database has a NULL value for the
temperature observation somewhere. Thankfully weewx has a utility that can
try to help.

Make a backup of your database

Run sudo wee_database --check-strings

Then if it found some, run sudo wee_database --fix-strings

Then rebuild the daily dummaries with sudo wee_database --rebuild-daily

Once completed, restart weewx and see if the error goes away.
