-1.8 is outdated by now since we're in feature freeze for the next stable. So
you should really reproduce with 1.9 if you can since nothing will be fixed in
the 1.8 source any more.
Maybe if I attempted to start Wesnoth twice, and multiplay

I have both versions installed, I just play with 1.8.6 for multiplayer as it
is still quite empty in 1.9.10 yet. I could reproduce the problem, although
not a segfault, but this in a real game would be just as annoying as one. See
